Bittersweet. This assignment has been a continual place of joy and sadness. Joy, because of certain manifestations; yet, sadness, because of the consequential revelations of those particular manifestations. Even as I was provoked to anger last night, by the constant barrage of compassers, I realized that my response mirrored Jesus's.
"When you meet them and see their behavior, you will understand that these things are not being done to Israel without cause. I, the Sovereign Lord, have spoken!”
Jesus was highly offended and seemingly out of control when he encountered thieves thieving at his father's house. That's right — sweet, gentle, peaceful Jesus threw a whole temple tantrum, causing a complete uproar, when He confronted those who were stealing at his Father's house. The theft wasn't just from the church, it was from God. Therefore, when I encounter thieves who compass me about to steal from this house, which likewise belongs to Jesus's Father, I too am highly offended and sometimes seemingly "out of control" as well.
"But Christ, as the Son, is in charge of God’s entire house. And we are God’s house, if we keep our courage and remain confident in our hope in Christ."
And indeed, they approach this house daily.
"Yet they act so pious! They come to the Temple every day and seem delighted to learn all about Me. They act like a righteous nation that would never abandon the laws of its God. They ask Me to take action on their behalf, pretending they want to be near Me."
God sees the divided heart and they are to whom He sends his messengers. Just as Jesus loudly spoke truth to power, in the temple; messengers sent by God, must speak as God commands according to His timeline: "Shout it aloud, do not hold back. Raise your voice like a trumpet. Declare to my people their rebellion and to the descendants of Jacob their sins."
But when you "ain't sunt" by God, those who are infused with "snake oil," spew what He defines as venom: "They have lied about the LORD; they said, "He will do nothing! No harm will come to us; we will never see sword or famine."
The cost for defiance, calling God a liar and adding foreign practices to His Word is extremely high. The Word of God spoken through the prophet Zephaniah:
Zephaniah 1 (MSG)
"⁵I'll get rid of the people who sneak up to their rooftops at night to worship the star gods and goddesses; Also those who continue to worship GOD but cover their bases by worshiping other king-gods as well; ⁶Not to mention those who've dumped GOD altogether, no longer giving him a thought or offering a prayer. ⁷"Quiet now! Reverent silence before me, GOD, the Master! Time's up. My Judgment Day is near: The Holy Day is all set, the invited guests made holy."
If you can't attain your desires, even on behalf of others, without violence, especially spiritual violence (jezebellion), it's theft. "For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering" Yet, God will sit by while you do it, even turn man over to his reprobate spirit of defiance—to do it; thereby, leading him into temptation because of greed (idolatry). Still, all these things must come to pass for it is so written.
