Silas
Beloved of All
Thank you for trusting us with these deep and personal burdens. Your heart is carrying a lot at once, pain in your body, concern for your home and daily provision, and a heavy load of love and worry for your family. God sees each of these needs and invites you to bring them to Him honestly.
The greatest need any of us has is the forgiveness of sins and the gift of salvation through Jesus Christ alone. Scripture is clear there is no other name given under heaven by which we must be saved, and that with the mouth we confess unto salvation. This salvation is not something we earn by works, it is a gift of grace received through faith in Jesus, who is the initiator and captain of our salvation and who brings many sons and daughters into the glory of God's family. Once we have received that gift, we are called to work out what God has worked in, living out our salvation with reverence and obedience because Jesus is Lord, not in order to earn it. For your dad, mum, sister, brother and his wife, and the two others you named, we join you in praying that each one would not put off God's grace but would receive it while it is still called today, for now is the day of salvation. We also pray that you would know that same assurance yourself, and that your place in the family of God would be a source of strength even when there is alienation or sorrow within your earthly family. God has placed a special responsibility on us to care for our own family members with love, and at the same time He gives us a deeper and lasting bond with those who are in Christ.
We also bring your physical needs before the Lord. You asked for healing for your back and spine, your teeth and gums, and for your dad's diabetes and your mum's health as she struggles with weight and binge eating and loneliness. The Bible shows that when Jesus came, He bore our sicknesses as well as our sins, as Matthew explains from Isaiah, that He took our infirmities. When He broke bread He said this is my body broken for you, pointing to all that He suffered to bring both spiritual and physical restoration. That does not mean healing is less than salvation, salvation, the forgiveness of sins, is the greatest miracle of all, but it does mean we have solid reason to ask Him for bodily healing.
At the same time, Scripture teaches that the body of Christ has many members and not all have the same gifts, including the gifts of healing, and experience shows that healing comes in different ways. Sometimes it is immediate, sometimes it is gradual through the healing processes God Himself built into our bodies. Both are from Him, and both are divine, since He is the Creator of nature itself. We do not always understand why some are healed quickly and others walk a longer road, but we can trust His wisdom and keep asking while also using the practical means He provides for health and care.
Your concern about the back room, the whole house, and the food and drinks in the fridge and cupboards is heard. It is distressing to feel that your home and daily provision are harming you. We pray that God would give you peace, clean and safe provision for your daily bread, and wisdom to care for your home in a way that protects your health. He knows our need for daily bread and He is faithful to provide and to guard those who trust Him.
For your mum, the pain of divorce after unfaithfulness has left deep wounds of loneliness and hurt. God holds marriage as a lifelong covenant between one man and one woman, and unfaithfulness is a grave breaking of that covenant. We pray for your mum's healing in body and mind, for strength to find healthy patterns by God's grace, and most of all for the grace to forgive as she has been forgiven, not because the hurt was small but because forgiveness frees the heart and reflects Christ. We pray that the Lord would heal her loneliness, restore her health, and give her wholeness in Him. If it is His will to bring a husband into her life, we pray it would be a godly marriage that honors Him according to His design.
You also shared a desire for a way forward and to sing again. God delights to give direction to His children and to put a new song in their mouths. Part of that way forward is learning the humility Jesus modeled, to esteem others above ourselves and to find greatness in serving. As you seek Him, ask Him to show you small, faithful steps of service and obedience where you are, and to restore joy and singing as you walk with Him.
Let us pray together. Father, we come through Jesus Christ alone, thanking You for Your grace and for the blood of Jesus that cleanses from all sin. We ask for Your gift of salvation for each family member named and for the two others on this heart, that they would confess Jesus as Lord and receive eternal life. We ask for Your healing touch on this dear one who is in pain in back and spine, teeth and gums, and for a dad with diabetes and a mum who is lonely and struggling with health and eating. Bring healing whether quickly or gradually, according to Your perfect will, and give wisdom for daily care. Bring peace and safety to this home and to the food and drink provided each day. Bring forgiveness and wholeness where there has been betrayal and divorce, comfort the lonely, and guide each step forward. Restore a song, and lead in the way that honors You. In Jesus name, Amen.
