teenager committed suicide

Beloved of All
A teenager committed suicide, and this weekend the funeral will take place. Please pray for his family and friends (and i believe he had a girlfriend too), and pray for the service, that the Holy Spirit might comfort everyone present. And pray that God will make such a horrible thing which the Enemy meant for evil work together for good (Romans 8:28, Genesis 50:20)

We are deeply grieved by the loss of this young life and the unimaginable pain this family and community are enduring. Suicide is a tragic consequence of the enemy’s lies, despair, and the brokenness of this fallen world. Yet even in this darkness, we stand on the promise that God can bring good out of evil, that His comfort is near to the brokenhearted, and that His love is stronger than death. We lift this family, the girlfriend, friends, and all who mourn before the throne of grace, asking the Holy Spirit to move powerfully in their hearts during this funeral service and beyond.

Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, knowing that You collect every tear and hold the broken pieces of shattered lives. We ask You to wrap Your arms of love around this grieving family, the girlfriend, and every friend who is wrestling with confusion, anger, and sorrow. Comfort them with Your presence, Lord, and let them feel the reality of Your nearness in ways they’ve never known before. May the funeral service be a place where Your peace, which surpasses all understanding, guards their hearts and minds in Christ Jesus. Let the truth of Your Word be a balm to their wounds, and may the hope of eternal life in You bring light to their darkness.

We declare that the enemy meant this for evil, but You, O God, can turn it for good. We pray that this tragedy would awaken hearts to the preciousness of life, the reality of spiritual warfare, and the desperate need for the saving grace of Jesus Christ. May those who do not know You be drawn to the cross, where Your Son bore our sorrows and conquered death. Let this family’s pain become a testimony of Your faithfulness, and may their mourning be turned into a ministry of compassion and hope for others walking through similar valleys.

We also lift up the young people who are struggling in silence, feeling hopeless or overwhelmed. Lord, reveal Yourself to them as the God who sees, who hears, and who saves. Break the chains of depression, anxiety, and despair, and replace them with the peace that only You can give. Surround them with godly mentors, friends, and counselors who can speak life into their situations and point them to the truth of Your Word.

For those who may be tempted to follow this path of despair, we rebuke the lies of the enemy in Jesus’ name. We declare that their lives have purpose, that their pain is not the end of their story, and that You are able to redeem even the deepest wounds. Your Word says, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy. I came that they may have life and have it abundantly" (John 10:10 WEB). Let this truth take root in their hearts.

We pray for the church to rise up in love and action. May believers in this community be a tangible expression of Your grace, offering support, prayer, and practical help to this family and to one another. Let this tragedy not be in vain, but may it stir a revival of faith, unity, and compassion among Your people.

Above all, we trust in Your sovereignty, Lord. You are the God who turns ashes into beauty, mourning into joy, and despair into hope. We ask that You would be glorified even in this heartbreaking situation, and that Your name would be lifted high as the only source of true comfort and eternal life. Strengthen this family with Your love, and let them experience the reality of Your promise: "Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted" (Matthew 5:4 WEB).

In the mighty name of Jesus, the One who conquered sin and death, we pray. Amen.

As you prepare for this weekend’s funeral, know that we are holding everyone up in prayer. That service will be heavy, and we ask the Holy Spirit to be uncommonly near, in the songs, the silence, and the tears. In the days after, the grief will keep catching people off guard, especially because suicide leaves so many tangled feelings: shock, guilt, anger, and the ache of unanswered questions. Just being there for his family, his girlfriend, and his friends can be a lifeline. A meal left at the door, a text that simply says “I’m remembering him today,” or a quiet walk beside someone can say more than any sermon. They don’t need perfect words; they need faithful, patient presence, and that can extend for months, not just days.

Lord, we don’t understand why this happened, and we won’t pretend we do. But we ask you to wrap your arms around everyone who loved this young man. Hold them through the funeral, through the sleepless nights, and through the long quiet that follows. Let them grieve without shame, and give them people who will stay close. In the middle of this horror, we trust you to somehow, in your mercy, bring glimmers of good that no one can yet imagine. We lean on you now. In Jesus’ name, amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

How the old Serpent delights to strike at the young, to snatch away life before it seems well begun. Here is a wound that bleeds with peculiar sorrow, a youth cut off by his own hand. The Enemy meant it for evil, and the weight of that evil presses sorely upon hearts that loved him. We dare not speak lightly of such a calamity. It is a horror, a darkness, an anguish that only the God of all comfort can address. Yet even here, even now, we are not left without a word from Him who holds the keys of death and Hades.

The promise in Romans 8:28 is for them that love God, for them who are the called according to His purpose. I dare not scatter this precious comfort as though it were common property for every passer-by; it belongs to the household of faith. But to those crushed by this sorrow who are indeed lovers of God, grappling with a grief so tangled and bitter, the promise stands fast. All things. Not only the gentle springs and the soft sunbeams of providence, but the tempests, the earthquakes, the very eruptions of hell’s malice, all things work together for good. You cannot trace the pattern now. The threads are all in a knot, and the colors seem to run only to bruise the eye. But the Master-weaver knows His design.

Do not try to untie this knot by mere reason. You will never find the bottom of this deep sea of sorrow with the short line of human understanding. What God permits, He permits with a grand, though mysterious, purpose. What the Enemy flung into the field as a poisonous tare, the Divine Husbandman can, in the final harvest, overrule for the nourishing of His own glory and the ultimate blessing of His people. That good may not be seen in this life, in this small sphere, but the comfort of the Scriptures points us to hope. Hope that lifts the curtain and sees a conformity to Christ’s image being worked out, even through the furnace of absolute desolation. "That we, through the patience and comfort of the Scriptures might have hope."

Let this comfort soak down into the raw wounds of those who mourn. The Holy Spirit is the Comforter, the one who comes alongside to bear the burden. His work is not a mere patching up of a broken heart with pretty words; it is a supernatural infusion of peace. Pray that the funeral service is not a stage for hollow platitudes, but an arena where the sovereign love of God in Christ Jesus is set forth plainly, cruelly, sweetly. For love’s grandest commendation was in the death of another, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. There is no abyss of human agony that the love of God in Christ is not deeper still. He has descended lower than our lowest fall, and His love can lift those who are cast down into this very pit.

But you ask with fear, “What of the boy? Is there a boundary to this love where such a death is concerned?” I will not make the evangelist’s pulpit into the judgment seat. I know this: nothing present, nothing to come, no act of mind or hand, shall be able to separate a soul once truly given to Christ from the love of God which is in Him. The greatest sins of a saint cannot un-child him. And I cast myself with all my weight upon the truth that the Judge of all the earth will do right. Do not drown in speculation. Flee to the revealed, to the solid rock of a sovereignty that is always wisdom, and a goodness that is always mercy. For the living, the ground at the foot of the cross is level. Let every mourner look to Jesus, who has abolished death and brought life and immortality to light. Only there, in that bleeding, dying, rising love, will this bitter tangle be endured and at last understood.

The news of this young soul taken so violently rends the heart. I am constrained by grief to cry out, "O that my head were waters and mine eyes a fountain of tears!" For the calamity is beyond comfort, and we are undone. Yet I must not leave you without the balm that faith supplies. The Evil One indeed meant this for evil, seeking to steal and destroy, but our God is able to weave even such horror into a design of good for those who love Him.

Let us pour out tears, for the female sex is full of feeling and inclined to pity, and such sorrow is natural. Mary stood weeping at the tomb, and the Lord did not rebuke her tears but drew her through them to the joy of His Resurrection. So weep for the one who is gone, as though sending him on a journey to another land. But let not your grief be immoderate; do not wail as those who have no hope. For if he repented and looked to Christ, however imperfectly, we entrust him to the mercy of the Father, who knows our frame and remembers that we are dust.

The disciples, seeing the grave clothes, departed to their homes astonished, yet Mary stayed weeping and beheld angels. So too, in your sorrow, linger at the tomb of your hope, and you shall see comfort. The very intensity of this trial can become, by grace, a source of consolation and salvation. For as the sufferings of Christ abound in us, so our consolation also abounds through Christ. Whether we are afflicted, it is for your comfort and salvation, and our hope for you is steadfast. You share in the sufferings, therefore you shall also share in the comfort.

Do not seek the whole answer here. The promise of life is in Jesus Christ, and hope that is seen is not hope. We await a city where grief and mourning flee away. Meanwhile, honor the departed not with extravagant lamentation, but with almsdeeds, with hymns and psalms, and with a life that reflects the resurrection. Let the mutual faith of the church be a bright flame kindled together: you, comforting one another, and I, though absent, receiving comfort from your steadfastness.

Your Heavenly Father knows what you need. Cast this anguish upon Him. And though we do not pray against those who wound us, we humbly ask that the Holy Spirit, the Comforter, would make His presence known at that funeral service, that every heart may be lifted to the cross where death itself was slain, and to the empty tomb where hope was born anew. Let us hold fast our confession, for He who promised is faithful.
