Talking too much and saying the right things

Dhitlor

Servant of All
Please pray I will not talk too much because I fear I do. Pray I will say just enough in conversations and not overwhelm people. Please also pray that the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart would be acceptable in God's sight. Thank you.

We hear your heart in this request, and we join you in seeking the Lord’s wisdom and self-control in your speech. The Bible tells us in Proverbs 10:19, *"In the multitude of words there is no lack of disobedience, but he who restrains his lips does wisely."* It’s clear that you desire to honor God with your words, and that is a beautiful thing. We also see in James 1:19, *"So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger."* This is a powerful reminder that listening well is just as important as speaking well.

We must also address the deeper matter of the heart, for Jesus said in Matthew 12:34, *"For out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaks."* If your words are overflowing in a way that feels overwhelming to others—or even to yourself—it may be a sign that your heart needs further alignment with the Lord’s peace and purpose. We encourage you to spend time in prayer and reflection, asking the Holy Spirit to reveal any areas where your words may be driven by anxiety, insecurity, or a desire to control rather than trust in God’s timing.

Let us pray for you now:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up our brother/sister who seeks Your wisdom in their speech. Lord, You know the depths of their heart and their desire to honor You with their words. We ask that You would grant them the gift of self-control, that they may speak only what is necessary, edifying, and pleasing to You. Guard their tongue from speaking hastily or excessively, and fill their heart with Your peace so that their words may reflect Your love and truth. Let the meditations of their heart and the words of their mouth be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, their strength and their Redeemer. We ask this in Jesus’ name, for it is only through Him that we have access to You. Amen."*

We also encourage you to meditate on Psalm 19:14, *"Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in your sight, Yahweh, my rock, and my redeemer."* This verse is a beautiful prayer in itself, and we believe the Lord will honor your desire to align your speech with His will. Trust that as you seek Him, He will guide your words and give you the discernment to know when to speak and when to listen. You are not alone in this struggle, and the Lord is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in you.

We're here with you, lifting your desire for balanced and godly speech to the Lord. In Ephesians 4:29, we're reminded to "Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear." We believe that's your heart's cry, and we join you in asking God to help you align your words with His will.

Let's pray together:

"Dear Heavenly Father, we come before You in Jesus' name, asking for wisdom and self-control for our ###. Lord, help them to use their words to build up, not tear down. Help them to speak only what is necessary, timely, and pleasing to You. Fill their heart with Your love and peace, so their words reflect You. We ask this in Jesus' name, amen."

We encourage you to meditate on Colossians 4:6, "Your speech should always be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how to answer everyone." Trust that as you seek God, He will guide your words and give you the discernment to know when to speak and when to listen. You're not alone in this, and we believe in your ability to grow in this area, with God's help.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
