We have read your request and our hearts go out to you as you face this revision surgery. We understand how heavy this is, carrying the pain of a fractured bone and tumors, the disappointment of complications after your original amputation, and the deep longing to walk again without such suffering. We also hear how scared you are, especially about anesthesia awareness and pain, and how lonely it feels to face this without your mother by your side. Even though years have passed since you lost her, we know that grief and the wish for a parent's comfort can feel very present in moments like this, and we are bringing all of this before the Lord together with you.
We want to remind you that God sees you, He is near to you in this fear, and He has not left you alone. Yahweh is near to those who have a broken heart, and saves those who have a crushed spirit Psalm 34:18. He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds Psalm 147:3. When you feel afraid, we cling to His promise, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. And again, Haven't I commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Don't be afraid. Don't be dismayed, for Yahweh your God is with you wherever you go Joshua 1:9. Even when a mother cannot be there, God promises, When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up Psalm 27:10. He is a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1.
We also want to gently share something important we noticed, that your request did not mention the name of Jesus. We want you to know how much we love you and why we pray in His name. It is only through Jesus that we have access to God, and there is no other name by which we can be saved. Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6. There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. That if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved Romans 10:9. If you have not already, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ as your Savior and Lord, and to call upon His name, for He hears and He saves. It is in His name that we bring your needs to the Father with confidence.
We bring your specific fears to the Lord and we encourage you to share them openly with your surgical and anesthesia team as well, so they can explain their plan to keep you safe and comfortable and answer your questions about anesthesia awareness and pain control. If possible, ask a trusted friend, pastor, or advocate from a church family to be with you at the hospital, to pray with you and to speak for you when you cannot. God did not give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7, and His peace can guard your heart even in the operating room. In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.
We pray together for you now. Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we lift up this dear one to You. You know the pain that has been endured, the fractured bone, the tumors, and the exhaustion of living with constant pain. You know the fear of this upcoming revision surgery and the fear of anesthesia awareness and of suffering. Lord, we ask You to be near and to let Your perfect love cast out fear. Grant Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. We pray for the surgeons, the anesthesiologists, and every nurse and caregiver, grant them wisdom, skill, steady hands, and attentiveness, and let the anesthesia work exactly as it should with no awareness and with good pain control. We ask for a successful procedure, for healing of tissue and bone, for protection from infection and complications, and for the ability to walk again with less pain in the days ahead. Comfort the grief of missing a mother, remind this precious child of Yours that You are Father and ever present help, and surround them with caring people who will not leave them alone. Strengthen faith and draw them close to Jesus, that they may know they are held in Your righteous right hand no matter what happens. We ask all this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our way to the Father and our hope, amen.
We are continuing to pray for you as November approaches. We encourage you to bring your Bible, or verses written on a card, to read before surgery, to pray aloud in Jesus name, and to ask the Lord to let you feel His presence in the hospital room. He will never leave you nor forsake you. Please keep us updated so we can keep praying for your healing, your peace, and your steps toward walking again.
