Surgery

Servant of All
My husband is having arm surgery Wednesday. I am asking go for a smooth surgery, easy recovery. and good results.

We come before the Lord with hearts full of concern and faith as we lift up your husband’s upcoming surgery. Father God, You are the Great Physician, the One who heals and restores. We ask that You guide the hands of the surgeons, nurses, and all medical staff involved in this procedure. Grant them wisdom, precision, and steady hands as they work. We pray for a smooth surgery, free from complications, and that Your peace would fill the operating room, calming any anxiety or fear.

Lord, we also ask for an easy and swift recovery for your beloved child. Strengthen his body, ease any pain, and restore him to full health according to Your will. May the results of this surgery be good and bring lasting relief and function to his arm. We trust in Your promise that by Your stripes, we are healed (Isaiah 53:5), and we claim that healing in faith today.

We pray for you as well, dear sister in Christ. This time of waiting and caregiving can be challenging, but we ask that You fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Give her strength, patience, and trust in You as she supports her husband through this process. Remind her that You are with them both, holding them in Your loving hands.

Father, we also want to encourage you both to lean on the Lord during this time. Cast all your anxieties on Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). Surround your family with the support of your church community, friends, and loved ones who can pray alongside you and offer practical help. May this trial draw you both closer to God and to one another, deepening your faith and trust in His perfect plan.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, who alone has the power to heal and restore. Amen.

We’re praying alongside you for Wednesday, for a steady hand for the surgeon, your husband’s body to respond well to anesthesia and the procedure, and a recovery that brings back strength and range of motion sooner than expected. It means a lot that you asked us to carry this with you.

One thing that often eases the wait is calling the surgical team’s office and asking what the first few days at home will need: any special sling care, ice routines, or restrictions. Knowing that ahead helps you both rest mentally. And if anyone from your church or neighborhood has offered to bring a meal or run an errand, this is a sweet time to let them walk alongside you in a concrete way, it lets them share the load.

We also want you to rest in the steadiness of God’s presence, not because there’s a guarantee of a perfect outcome, but because nothing in that operating room catches Him by surprise. He is as close to you in the waiting room as He is to your husband under the bright lights.

Lord Jesus, we entrust this husband to You right now. Give the surgeon wisdom and focus beyond his training; let every cut and repair go exactly as needed. Grant an uncomplicated recovery, with pain well managed and healing that comes on schedule. Hold this wife in Your peace as she waits, and let them both taste Your goodness through the hands of nurses and the kindness of friends. In Your name we pray, Amen.

This arm surgery is set before the Lord, and the very leaves of the tree which are for the healing of the nations are within reach. Bind a promise round that arm, for how strong it makes each sinew, how forceful for the battle of life. The least thing about Christ is healing, and abundance of healing power flows from Him who is the great conduit Head. When your own strength fails, your strength shall be to sit still while God arises and becomes your arm every morning, your salvation in the time of trouble.

Calvary is the place for the healing balm. The work of Jesus, the heavenly Physician, is not so much to point out weakness as to apply the remedy. He is not like a hurried army surgeon, but He comes gently and sympathizingly. He sees with a mind deeply sympathetic and a heart quick to relieve.

The touch of Christ is the healing point. There is healing in the fact itself, that He took our flesh and thus touches us. Lay hold of this as you enter the surgeon’s hands. The surgeons are instruments; Christ Himself is the healer, and He links healing with hearing His Word.

As you have brought this need before the Lord, you have placed it where forgiveness and healing are in happy conjunction. Acknowledge that a smooth course and good results belong to Him, and do not say, "I will," as if the matter rested on an arm of flesh, for that is monstrous. Rather, both of you trust quietly, saying, "If the Lord wills," and watch for His hand. Do not wonder if recovery should be slow, for restoration is often a long process.

As strength returns little by little, let each increase of strength be seen as a new claim on your affection for the Lord. The desire to serve and the life that glorifies Him always arise out of healing. So it shall be. The Lord reveal His arm and you both will believe the report.

Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your care for your husband’s body is natural, but let it not outweigh the care for your soul. You ask for smoothness and ease, yet what if a harder path becomes the mercy that teaches him to lean upon God? The Lord often heals by first revealing a deeper sickness. For as it is written, that cloud of desire thickens over the eye and blinds, so too can a longing for mere physical comfort blind us to the healing of the inner man. Do not make an idol of a quick recovery, as if temporal ease were the highest good. Pray rather that through this affliction, however it unfolds, his spiritual sight may be cleansed and that both of you may cling more tightly to Christ, the true Saviour of the body.

You are bound to your husband as the Church is to Christ, a mystery of one flesh. So your foremost duty now is not anxiety over his arm, but a gentle and quiet spirit, which in God’s sight is very precious. A wife’s meekness and propriety do more to soothe a man’s soul than ten thousand fretting words. Let your conduct during this trial be one of steadfast faith, not nursing a secret reproach if results are not what you envisioned. What if he, seeing your peace that passes understanding, is himself won to deeper holiness without a word? That would be a good result indeed, far exceeding a merely mended limb.

Approach the throne of grace, then, with a sober plea: that the surgery be guided, the hand steady, but above all that in this your earthly husband may be sanctified and your union together made a fragrant offering to the Lord. Ask to be delivered from the snare of calling a devout wish what is truly a loving demand for earthly comfort, lest you unwittingly drive his heart away from the recompense of suffering. He is the head, and his body is in the Lord’s hands; your role is not to command the outcome, but to submit your whole household to the Great Physician who knows whether it is better to restore swiftly or to perfect through patience. Make this your prayer: that whether in health or in lingering recovery, he may be presented blameless before the Lord, and you with him.

It is a frightening yet precious moment when someone we love is placed into the hands of a surgeon. The temptation in these hours is to put all our hope in the skill of the doctor and the steadiness of the scalpel. Scripture warns us plainly: Cursed is the man who trusts in man and makes flesh his arm. Right now, your husband’s physical arm is in need of repair, but the deeper question is where the trust of your hearts will rest. Human hands are capable of remarkable things, yet they are ultimately just instruments. The true outcome rests in God's hands alone.

Often God allows these moments of vulnerability to uproot our confidence in human systems. Just as He sometimes tears down before He builds, He may use a health crisis to gently dismantle our reliance on the strength of the flesh, only to build a firmer dependence upon Him. Do not look at the surgeon as the ultimate source of healing. Pray instead that you will both see this procedure not merely as a repair of tissue and bone, but as a moment where God draws you close, plants a new awareness of His presence, and builds a deeper trust in your spirits. The path might feel tender, and recovery requires patience, but the Lord watches over those who lean on Him.

How do you know but what God’s hand is in all of this, to bring you to just this point, this time, this hour? It is exciting to commit these details to the Lord. We ask Him for a smooth surgery and a quick recovery, yes, but we ask it knowing that He is working for a far greater good than physical comfort. He is establishing His faithfulness in your lives. Do not be like a withered shrub in the desert, drying up when the heat comes. Be planted by the water, roots stretching down into the stream of His provision, staying green and fruitful even while you wait.

May the surgery go smoothly with no complications. May the recovery be rapid and complete. But more than that, may you both find that the Lord Himself is your strength. Cast this burden onto Jesus, because He cares for you, and He is far more reliable than the arm of flesh. I will be praying for peace in that hospital room and for a testimony of healing that brings glory to God.
