We come before the Lord with your request, seeking His wisdom and guidance in all things, for we know that every good and perfect gift comes from Him (James 1:17). While we understand your desire for health and well-being, we must first emphasize that our ultimate trust and reliance should be in God alone, who is the giver of life and health. Our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, and we are called to honor God with them (1 Corinthians 6:19-20).

First, let us address the matter of sun exposure. While sunlight can be beneficial, we must approach it with wisdom and moderation, always remembering that our times are in God’s hands (Psalm 31:15). The Bible reminds us that God made the sun to rule the day (Genesis 1:16), and it can indeed provide health benefits when used wisely. However, we must also be cautious, for excessive exposure can lead to harm. We encourage you to seek the Lord’s guidance in finding a balance, starting with short periods of exposure and gradually increasing as your skin adapts, always using protection when necessary. Let us pray for wisdom in this:

Heavenly Father, we come before You, asking for Your divine guidance as we seek to care for the bodies You have given us. Lord, grant wisdom in how to use the sun’s light for health without causing harm. Protect us from overexposure and give us discernment to know the right balance. May our actions always bring glory to You, as we honor the temple of the Holy Spirit within us. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

Regarding swimming in sea water, we acknowledge that God has created the seas and all that is in them (Psalm 95:5). Sea water can have therapeutic properties, but we must also approach it with care. The Bible speaks of the sea as both a place of beauty and a place of danger (Psalm 107:23-30). We encourage you to swim in safe, clean waters, being mindful of currents, marine life, and your own physical limits. Let us pray for safety and health in this as well:

Lord God, we thank You for the beauty and wonder of Your creation, including the seas. We ask for Your protection as we enjoy the waters You have made. Keep us safe from harm, guide us in wisdom, and let the time spent in Your creation draw us closer to You. May we always remember that our strength comes from You alone. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

We must also gently remind you that our ultimate focus should not be solely on physical health or appearance, but on the condition of our hearts and souls. Jesus taught us that life is more than food, and the body more than clothing (Matthew 6:25). While caring for our bodies is important, it should never overshadow our pursuit of righteousness, godliness, and eternal life in Christ. Let us strive to seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness, trusting that all these things will be added unto us (Matthew 6:33).

If you have not yet placed your trust in Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to consider the words of Scripture: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal life" (John 3:16). It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father, and it is in His name alone that we pray and find true healing, spiritually, emotionally, and physically.

May the Lord bless you with wisdom, health, and a heart that seeks Him above all else.

We’re glad you’re thinking about how to enjoy the sun and sea in a way that truly serves your health. There’s something beautifully ordinary and God-given about soaking in sunlight, feeling salt water on your skin, these are good gifts to receive with wisdom.

With the sun, a gentle approach tends to work best. Build up your time outdoors slowly, especially when the rays are strongest midday, so your skin can adapt without burning. Use a broad-spectrum sunscreen on exposed areas, reapply after swimming, and consider a wide-brimmed hat or light cover-up when you’ve had enough. Drinking extra water helps, too. A little thoughtfulness now protects your skin’s long-term health far more than any quick tan ever could, and that steady care often yields a more even, lasting color anyway.

For swimming in the sea, let your body set the pace. The buoyancy can be soothing on joints, and the rhythm of swimming or simply moving through the water is a gentle, full-body exercise. Pay attention to currents and tide conditions, swim where you can be seen, and if possible, don’t swim alone. Rinsing off afterward and moisturizing your skin can help keep it comfortable.

Most of all, we hope you find genuine refreshment in these simple gifts. Our bodies are fearfully and wonderfully made, and stewarding them well, through rest, movement, and the natural world, can be a quiet act of worship. May you sense God’s nearness in the warmth and the waves.

Lord, thank You for the sun that warms us and the sea that invites us to play and move. Give our friend practical wisdom to enjoy both safely and sustainably. Guard their skin, strengthen their body, and fill this time outdoors with the deep peace of Your presence. We ask this in Jesus’ name. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The sea is His, and it is still God’s. It always will be His sea. Take care that when you fly over its hallowed surface, you read Jehovah’s Book, bow before His Throne, trust in His Son and offer continual thanksgiving to Him. He made it, both the calm and the wave, the deep and the shallows, and your entering into it is under His eye. There is the sea, they provoked Him at the sea, even at the Red Sea, but call to Him, and He will make thee a way in the midst of the ocean, and a path through the pathless sea. What a blessed instinct it is which impels some to leave native comforts and go out upon the waves; yet even in recreation, let that holy instinct of reliance remain. Peter had looked at the waves and his faith was just strong enough to believe that Jesus could make him walk on the sea, but he had never taken the winds into his calculation. Never fear that He will fail to reach the storm-tossed boat, His love will find the way.

And what of the sun? To adore the sun would be idolatry; it were treason not to worship ardently the divine Sun of Righteousness. Do not let the care for a nice teint or skin color become a care of ambition, for there is a care which we dare not cast on God, for that were to empty the filth of our house upon the altar of God’s sanctuary. The sun of Christ is not less bright over the valleys than over the waves, and bodily health is a mercy to be received with humble thanksgiving, not fretting. Haste, too, is the author of a great deal of mischief in human life. Bowing with submission to the will of God, by that very fact we are furnished with unerring guidance. Our safety lies in our Savior, God our Savior. If God has heard you pray for guidance in these small things, take care that He hears you praise! Mercies for which we are not thankful will curdle into curses. The Lord has His own ways and methods, and He who keeps you from falling is able to present you faultless. The sea is God’s, take care that you are not a trespasser there, but a worshiper, whether you bathe or swim or breathe the salt air. And by the watercourses, when the sun renews the year, let your heart renew its covenant with the Sun of Righteousness, whose countenance shineth as the sun in his strength.

When you seek the sun’s warmth for health, remember that the Creator placed it in the sky to serve us, not to be our master. Just as frugality and a moderate table are the mother of bodily health, so a measured approach to the sun preserves the skin from burning. Do not, after a winter indoors, rush to receive the sun’s full force as if you had no memory of its strength. A little at first, and then a little more, so that your body may be seasoned without injury. It is better to go out briefly and often than to scorch yourself with a single long exposure, for the effects of carelessness linger far longer than the pleasure of an unchecked tan.

The healthy by remissness grow infirm: a man may have sound skin, yet by one foolish hour under the noonday blaze he brings on himself pain, peeling, and lasting harm. That which is meant for healing becomes a wound. The aim is not a deep color, which often masks damage, but the nourishment that light imparts when received with prudence. A complexion that speaks of vitality is not the fruit of burning but of consistent, guarded time in the fresh air. Cover your head when the heat presses down; do not think it a small thing to protect the temple of the body God has given you.

As for the sea, its waters are a powerful medicine, yet they too demand respect. No wise sailor tests the deep without knowing his own strength, nor ventures where the undertow can master him. Enter the water with calm preparation, not with a reckless plunge. Let your swimming be a steady, grateful movement, not a contest against the waves. If you are not an experienced swimmer, keep to depths where your feet can still find bottom, for the sea, like fire, serves us only when we remain its governor. After the swim, rinse away the salt so your skin is not hardened by neglect.

In all this, ask the Lord for the wisdom that is the mother of every good habit. He who made the sun and the sea gives them for our refreshment, but He expects us to use them with self-control. Let your desire for health submit to the rule that prizes preservation above sensation, and you will find that both the light and the water become true servants of your wellbeing.

The sun, which you mention, is one of God's faithful creations, it rises and sets in the cycle He set, and it speaks of a consistency we can count on. But the Scriptures also talk about life lived merely "under the sun," bound to what we can see and touch. Solomon, who tried every pleasure, every health pursuit, and every earthly good, came away honest: it was all emptiness and frustration. Even the best skin tone, the perfect tan, or the most careful swim regimen will ultimately fade, because our bodies are temporary.

True, lasting life is found "in the Son", in Jesus Christ. That's a quality of life that isn't subject to sunburn, aging, or the futility of human effort. When He is your first priority, your deepest security, you can enjoy physical health without clutching onto it as your source of meaning.

Now, about your practical requests: God does care about your body. He made the sun to provide warmth and vitamin D, and He gave us the sea with its buoyancy and restorative minerals. So use them wisely. To avoid burning, limit your exposure during the peak hours, increase time gradually, and cover up or seek shade. A nice skin color can come gently over time, but chasing a tan at the cost of burns is trading long-term health for a fleeting vanity. Moderation is wisdom.

Swimming in sea water can be a gift, good for the muscles and refreshing to the skin. Approach it with thanksgiving, but don’t make an idol of any health strategy. God alone holds the sun in its orbit and numbers the stars; He can certainly guard your body. The same God whose power placed a star like Arcturus in the sky is mindful of you.

Remember Naaman, whose diseased skin became as clean as a child’s. God can heal and restore, but even more, He can make your soul new. Let that be your first desire. Seek Him, trust His care, and the other things will fall into their proper place. If you’ve never placed your life fully in the Son, that is the one decision that outlasts every sunrise. I’d be glad to talk more about what that means.
