Disciple of Prayer
Home from Afghan, now my wife wants a divorce.

My name is ### and I just returned from Afghanistan last week, within two days of being home my wife ### said she wanted a divorce. I have been constantly gone for the last three years and we have had our problems because of it, and I knew things were bad, but this was my last deployment and I was looking forward to being able to reconcile, forgive and move forward in our marriage and lives together. I asked her to not make any decisions without some time to readjust, nope, I asked her to go to counseling so we could get professional help, so far nothing, even discussed a separation to give her space, and still it feels like she just wants nothing to do with me. She says “I wish you realized all this last year,” and things like “she deserves to be happy and so do I,” but that's as far as the conversation usually gets. We are both Christians and I have been praying for my marriage for some time, it feels like she is bitter at God for letting her be hurt and feel pain, at this point I am mentally, physically, emotionally, and almost spiritually on empty. I don't know how many more break downs I can take, I have been begging God for something, and thankfully my parents have had good advice, I am just so emotionally damaged and not even used to being home yet, that it's hard not to panic and be angry, in the same way that I think ### has become angry. The one bit of hope I see in her is she says she still loves me, but that alone to her is not enough to try, there needs to be a “connection” I totally agree but don't see why she won't work for our marriage. I tried to explain that it would take time to work through the hurt before the anger wouldn't overshadow us to the point of feeling numb, thus the “lack of a connection” but I don't think she wants to hear reason, just minimize pain. In her mind it's easier to run than to open herself to the chance of more pain, or put forth the effort for our marriage. The last thing I can accept is a divorce, we have a beautiful daughter, and so much in common, I just don't know what to do or how to cope at this point.

I need to see God at work and so does my wife, I know God has a plan for us, but at this point we are both at a loss, I can't believe that this is what God wants for our family, and I refuse to give up! But if the other is convinced not to try, what do I do? I know we are being attacked, both physically and definitely spiritually. Every time I feel like I can take a breath or there is a glimmer of hope, there is something that shatters me. I know this is a direct attack from hell, and I am praying hard, I just feel so alone in the world. PLEASE pray for strength in both my wife and I, to hear, understand, and obey God in what He is trying to tell us, and has in store for us. And for the devil and all that follow him to be rebuked from our marriage and lives. I claim God's blessing and victory over my marriage in Jesus' blood and name. AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you all for your prayers!

Our God of peace, you have taught us that in returning and rest we shall be saved, in quietness and in confidence shall be our strength: By the might of your Spirit answer this request, we pray of you, so we may be still and know that you are God; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.

I am praying for your marriage I know what that pain is like I am also standing for my marriage with my husband and it has been tough but God is making things better God is still in control keep praying even when you feel like giving up and walking away that's when you pray the most ### don't give up on your wife try to make her remember the good times you ha together also be aware that you are not fighting with your wife you are fighting against the spirits that are on her I am praying for you

I am praying for you. My husband returned from Afghanistan and left me. He developed a drinking problem and his life fell apart after that. It's been two years since he left me and I haven't stopped loving him. I pray everyday he will find his way back to me. I will be praying for you and your family!

Thank you all, I don't know how to express my thanks to you all, and to God for giving me hope in life each day!

Dear Heavenly Father:

We come to you lifting up this ###'s needs. You know their heart Lord; you know their situation. We ask that you please grant them their request in Jesus Name, and by your will. We ask that in the absence of what cannot be understood that you would grant peace beyond understanding. Send them help from the people around them, and also help from those you wish for them to meet. Oh Father, thank you for sending them love and comfort, peace and joy, that you may grant them full measure of favor and prosperity In Jesus Precious Name we pray, Amen.
