Please pray for God to provide me with a new job specifically one that will be honoring to Him even if it's starting a business. I am tired of ending up in jobs where I feel I am compromising my Christian values. Thank you.

We join you in lifting this burden to our Heavenly Father, and we thank you for desiring work that honors Him above all else. It is a good and godly desire to not want to compromise your Christian values for a paycheck, for we are called to live set apart and to do all for the glory of God. We understand the weariness that comes from ending up in places where you feel pressured to act against your conscience, and we pray God will lead you to a place where you can work with integrity and peace.

The Scripture reminds us, Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, Col 3:23, and Commit your works to Yahweh, and your plans shall be established, Prov 16:3. When we seek first God’s Kingdom, and his righteousness, all these things will be given to you as well, Matt 6:33. Our God also promises, My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus, Phil 4:19. He sees your diligence and your desire to honor Him, and He is faithful to provide.

We also notice your request speaks of God and Christian values but does not mention the name of Jesus Christ, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father. For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus, 1 Tim 2:5, and Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me, John 14:6. There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved, Acts 4:12. It is by trusting in Jesus Christ, His death and resurrection for our sins, that we are reconciled to God and can boldly bring our requests before Him. If you have not already, we encourage you to place your full trust in Jesus as your Lord and Savior.

Father, in the name of Jesus Christ we come before You on behalf of our brother or sister who is weary and seeking Your provision. Lord, You know the jobs that have caused compromise and heaviness of heart, and You know the deep desire to work in a way that honors You. We ask that You open the right door, whether it be a new job or the opportunity to start a business, according to Your perfect will. Grant wisdom as James 1:5 promises, that if any of us lacks wisdom we can ask of You and You give generously. Give clear direction, godly counsel, and discernment to recognize the opportunity You have prepared. Provide for every need and keep this dear one from being unequally yoked or pressured to sin for the sake of profit or position. Help them to work with excellence, honesty, and diligence as a testimony to Your goodness, and to trust in You with all their heart and not lean on their own understanding, Prov 3:5-6. Let this next season of work be a place of integrity, provision, and fruitfulness for Your kingdom. We ask this in the mighty and holy name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to commit your plans to the Lord daily in prayer, to seek wise counsel from mature believers, and to use your gifts diligently while you wait. God honors faithfulness and integrity, and He will not abandon those who seek to honor Him. Trust that He is preparing a place where you can provide for your needs while keeping a clear conscience before Him.

Thank you for letting us pray with you about work. Wanting work that honors God and not having to set aside your convictions to keep a paycheck is a deeply good desire, and we hear how weary you are from that tension.

One thing that helps many believers in this spot is to get very clear, before the next application, about what honoring Him looks like for you in daily work. It can help to write down the two or three lines you will not cross and the kinds of service or contribution that make work feel meaningful, then bring that list to a couple of trusted believers who know your gifts and can help you weigh a traditional job versus starting something on your own. Doing this in community often brings clarity that is hard to find alone, and it keeps career decisions connected to serving others, not just finding a position.

As you explore a business idea, one small next step could be talking with one Christian business owner or mentor this week about what starting well actually involves, costs, time and pressures, so you can pray with real information.

Father, we bring our friend to You and ask for Your provision and clear guidance in this job search. Give wisdom for each application and conversation, open the right door in Your timing, and guard their heart from discouragement. Provide for daily needs and help them walk faithfully wherever You place them. In Jesus name, amen.

We have heard your prayer and we thank God for the desire He has placed within you, to set Him first and to seek work that honors His name. This is a right and holy longing, for to the true man God is first, yea, all in all, and He must never be placed at the fag end while other things are put before Him.

You are weary of compromising, and you do well to be weary of it. As one of old said, I thank God that I did never for a single moment put so much as a hoof, or a hair's breadth of Christ's truth into compromise. May the Lord give you that same resolved spirit, to stand fast, whatever you lose, and turn not aside, whatever you might gain. Please God, you shall see prosperity yet, when you are resolved never to seek it except in God's own way.

Remember that He is the God of the hills and the God of the valleys. He is not only God in the high places of great success, but God also in the low valley of waiting and uncertainty. He is your God in the workshop and in the marketplace, in employment under another or in the labor of your own hands in business, if He should lead you there. The whole world is full of God to him who believes in God, and He will have communion with you wherever He places you.

You have declared your ways unto Him, and He has heard you. Now is the time to exercise faith upon a living God. Your God is not worth having if He cannot help you when you want help. He says, Prove Me now, and He delights to show Himself faithful to those who prove Him by simple trust and obedience.

We will pray for you.

Our Father and our God, the God of heaven and earth, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, through whom alone is salvation. We thank You for this Your child who desires to honor You in daily labor. You know weariness and the burden of having been in places where conscience has been wounded. Grant now clear guidance, open the door which no man can shut, and provide such work, whether in employment or in the establishing of a business, as shall be honest in Your sight and useful to men. Give wisdom to discern Your will, courage to refuse what would dishonor You, and faith to trust Your provision. Teach Your statutes day by day, and keep this Your servant near to Yourself, content to be in just such a place as You would put him, and confident that You who clothes the fields and feeds the sparrows will not forsake those who put You first. We have heard your request and we join with you in prayer before the Lord with thanksgiving for your desire to honor Him in your work.

We understand how wearying it is to feel torn between providing for your needs and keeping a clear conscience before Christ. Your longing to walk with integrity and to offer your daily labor to God is pleasing to Him, and we pray He will strengthen you as you wait on His provision.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we come to You in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son, our only hope of salvation. We ask You to provide for our brother or sister according to Your wisdom and goodness. Open the right door for work that allows faithfulness to You without compromise, whether that is a new position or the opportunity to start a business. Grant wisdom to see the right path, courage to stand for what is right, and peace while waiting for Your answer. Provide for daily needs, guard the heart from discouragement, and help all work to be done as unto You, with honesty, diligence and love for others. Guide each decision by Your Word and by Your Spirit, and let Christ be honored in every part of life and labor. We ask this in the name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to continue seeking first the kingdom of God, to seek counsel from faithful believers and wise counselors as you consider a new job or business, and to trust that God sees your faithfulness and will lead you. Thank you for sharing your heart and your desire to honor God in your work. That longing itself is precious to Him. Scripture describes Job as a man who was blameless and upright, who lived in reverence for God and turned away from evil. When you say you are tired of being in places where you feel pressed to compromise what you believe, you are expressing that same wisdom, for true wisdom is to reverence the Lord and true understanding is to depart from evil. God sees that desire.

There is a background to Job that he could not see at first. There is an accuser who stands before God day and night, and who had been watching Job closely. That enemy claimed Job only served God for the benefits he received, and asked permission to strip those benefits away, certain Job would then turn from God. What we learn there is important for you. The enemy's power is limited. He could not touch Job at all until God allowed it, because God had placed a hedge around him. Nothing touches the life of a child of God without passing through the loving permission of the Father, and even when it is painful, God has a purpose in it.

Job lost much and yet he fell down and worshiped, saying the Lord gave and the Lord has taken away, blessed be the name of the Lord. In all of that he did not curse God or blame Him wrongly. Later, in his deep distress, he cried out from his own pain and confusion, even wishing his life would end, and questioning why these things had come. Those cries were not statements of settled truth about God, but the honest struggle of a man trying to understand. Finally God spoke and asked, who is this that darkens counsel with words without knowledge. God is so much greater than we are. He does not owe us a full accounting of His ways, yet we can know with certainty that He is good, that He loves His people, and that He rules over all circumstances, even over nations and over the details of our daily work.

One of the friends who came to Job gave him advice that was actually good, though he meant it harshly. He said, seek God and commit your cause to Him, for He does great and unsearchable things, marvelous things without number. That is the counsel I would pass on to you. Commit this matter of employment to the Lord. Ask Him to open the door that is right, whether that is a new position somewhere else or the provision to start a business that can be conducted with integrity for His glory. God is fair and just, and He is sovereign over where you are placed. He allowed Job's trial early in the history of His people so that those who would come after could be comforted when it seems God has forsaken them, to know He is still working even then.

You may feel small before the greatness of God, as Job did, and wonder how you can stand before Him. There is One who stands between God and man, who lays His hand on both. Jesus Christ has made a way for us to come to God not in our own righteousness, for we have all sinned and fall short, but through faith which God counts as righteousness. Through Him you can bring your request with confidence.

So continue to trust Him and to refuse what is evil, even when it costs you. Do not turn your spirit against God in discouragement, but keep committing your way to Him.

We pray with you now. Father, we thank You for this heart that wants to honor You in daily labor. You know the weariness of being in places that press against conscience. We ask You to provide work that allows faithful obedience to You, whether a new job or the means to build a business that reflects Your character. Give wisdom in each step, open doors no man can shut, and close those that would lead away from You. Guard and guide, and let Your name be blessed in the provision You give. Help this dear one to know Your goodness and Your control over every circumstance, and to rest in Your love through Jesus Christ. Amen.
