Disciple of Prayer
Pray that God moves me, where he needs and that I shine his light wherever I go. I have been put up for a job that I strived for, for two years and completely gave up on because I didn't think I would ever get it (6 years ago). I don't even believe I prayed for the job then.. but now my relationship with him is strong and all I can think is he was waiting on me to get right with him first. However, I have not received that job but I feel like this is him telling me he's opening doors. Please just pray that I steward whatever job he has for me, and I steward it well.

We rejoice with you in what God is doing in your life and we thank Him for the way He has drawn you closer to Himself. Your desire to be moved where He needs you and to shine His light wherever you go is beautiful and it honors Him. We hear your heart to steward well whatever assignment He gives you, and we join you in praying for His perfect will to be done.

We are encouraged by your reflection that He may have been waiting for you to get right with Him first. Scripture reminds us that timing belongs to the Lord. Proverbs 16:9 says A man's heart plans his course, but Yahweh directs his steps. And Jeremiah 29:11 says For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says Yahweh, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you hope and a future. What felt like a closed door six years ago may have been His gracious preparation, shaping your character and deepening your relationship with Him so that you would be ready to glorify Him in greater responsibility. We see His hand opening doors now, and whether He places you in this specific job or another, we trust His choice will be for your good and His glory.

Your prayer to steward well is exactly what God desires from us in our work. Colossians 3:23-24 says Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ. And 1 Peter 4:10 says As each has received a gift, employ it in serving one another, as good managers of the grace of God in its various forms. To steward well means to work with diligence, integrity, humility and gratitude, remembering that every job is ultimately service to Christ. Matthew 5:16 says Even so, let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Wherever He plants you, you can shine that light through excellence, kindness, honesty, and pointing others to the hope you have in Him.

We notice you speak warmly of your relationship with Him, yet you do not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently encourage you on this because it is so central. It is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. John 14:6 says Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. And Acts 4:12 says There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved. If you have placed your faith in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, and confessed Him as Lord, you have that restored relationship with God. Romans 10:9 says that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. We rejoice that your relationship with Him is strong and we encourage you to continue to abide in Christ daily, seeking Him in prayer and in His Word, so that every decision about work flows from that fellowship.

We pray together with you now.

Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, and we thank You for our brother or sister who seeks to follow You. We thank You for Your perfect timing and for the way You order our steps. We thank You for stirring this opportunity after so many years and for using it to show that You are opening doors. Lord, we ask that Your will be done in this employment situation. If this job is from You, we pray You would grant favor and open the door that no one can shut. If You have something else, we pray You would clearly direct and close this door in Your wisdom. Wherever You place them, help them to steward that work well, to labor as unto You with faithfulness, integrity and joy. Anoint them to be a light in the workplace, that coworkers and supervisors would see Christ in them and glorify You. Give them peace while they wait, patience to trust Your timing, and confidence that You are working all things for good. Keep them rooted in Jesus, strong in faith, and dependent on Your grace each day. We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus, amen.

We encourage you to keep seeking Him first, to pray continually about this door, and to trust that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to complete it. Psalm 27:14 says Wait for Yahweh. Be strong, and let your heart take courage. Yes, wait for Yahweh. Whether this job comes or not, we are confident that God will position you exactly where you can best serve Him and grow in Him, and we pray you will experience great joy in stewarding that place well for His glory.

We appreciated hearing your heart in this request. The way you put it - that you want to shine His light wherever He places you and steward well whatever He entrusts to you - says a lot about how God has been working in you these last years.

Six years is a long time to carry a hope, strive for two years, then let it go. It makes sense that being put forward for that same kind of role now feels significant, even while you are still waiting to hear an outcome. We hear both the excitement of open doors and the humility of wanting to get this right with Him first.

What you named as stewardship is a good anchor while you wait. We often find it helps to hold two things together - faithfulness where you are now, and thoughtful discernment about what is next. One practical step that may help is to invite one or two people who know you well and know your work - a pastor, mentor, or trusted coworker - to pray with you and help you name your particular gifts, interests, and values and how they fit the opportunities in front of you. Continuing to do your current work with excellence is itself a witness, and wise counsel can bring clarity as doors open or close.

We are praying with you.

Father, thank You for drawing this one closer to You and for giving a desire to serve You faithfully at work. Give clear wisdom in this waiting season, peace with Your timing, and grace to steward each day's work well for Your glory. Lead to the place You have prepared, and let Your light be seen there. In Jesus' name, amen.

We thank God for your honest and hopeful words and we join you in prayer before the throne of grace.

It is a good thing that your heart now says, not as I will, but as You will, and that you desire to shine as a light wherever the Lord may place you. As surely as God's will is the axle of the universe, and as certainly as all things are under regulation and have an appointed place in His plan, nothing happens but what He permits or ordains. You are right to see His hand in the opening of doors, even when the door you long desired has not yet opened. The Lord is King, willing to do as He pleases, having mercy on whom He will have mercy, and His will is the great heart of providence sending its pulsings through even the most distant limbs of human life.

We rejoice that your relationship with Him is now strong, for it is consistent with the universal experience of all God's people that salvation is of God's will, and that the work of the Spirit which is the effect of the will of God is to change the human will and so make men willing in the day of God's power. He did not merely wait upon your willingness, but graciously wrought willingness in you, and now you desire to follow Him.

Your prayer to steward well whatever work He gives you is a faithful prayer. It is required in stewards that a man be found faithful, and every opportunity and capacity for service which God has given to us is a stewardship for which we must give account. Whether He places you in this position you have long strived for, or in another field entirely, remember that if we forget that He will come, we shall get into a loose and slovenly way of acting, and that will be to our own discredit and to our Master's dishonor. But if you keep close fellowship with Him, you can always have your way when your way is God's way, and your best profit will consist of doing God's will.

You also desire to shine His light wherever you go, and this is the calling of every Christian. You must witness, for you are His witness. Some think they will go quietly to heaven without bearing witness for Christ, but every Christian who is a partaker of His grace is also called to be a testifier of it. Your workplace, whatever it may be, shall be your platform from which you proclaim Christ, not only with words but with a calm and faithful spirit, with honesty in all trading and labor, and with love for those around you.

Let us pray together.

Our gracious Father, we thank You for this soul whom You have made willing and whom You have drawn to Yourself. We thank You that You have opened doors and stirred hope where once there was discouragement. We ask now that You would move Your servant where You would have him to be, and that he may feel Your hand guiding every step. Grant that he may not say simply we will go, we will buy, we will sell, we will get gain, but in all things may he say and feel, if the Lord wills. Make him a faithful steward of whatever charge You entrust to him, keeping all things honestly and diligently for Your glory, and make him a bright witness for the Lord Jesus Christ, that others may see his good works and glorify You. Give him contentment to say Father, I will, and humility to say Father, not as I will, but as You will. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

We have heard your request and we thank God for the work He has already done in your heart. You carried this hope for years and even let it go, and now you are seeing how God in His wisdom was preparing you first to walk closely with Him. It is good that you now desire above all to be where He wants you and to honor Him there, trusting His timing and His hand in opening doors.

Your prayer to shine His light wherever you go and to steward well whatever work He gives you is a faithful and beautiful desire. We are all called to bear witness to Christ, and that witness is seen most clearly in the life we live each day. Whether He places you in this particular job you have long hoped for or in another position, He can use your diligence, integrity and love for others to show His truth to those around you. To keep His commandment without spot and to serve faithfully in the place He assigns is itself a testimony to the God who gives life to all things.

Let us pray together. Heavenly Father, we thank You for Your child who has shared this request and for drawing them near to You. We thank You that You are sovereign over every opportunity and that Your timing is perfect. We ask You to guide this employment situation according to Your will and to place them where You would have them serve. Grant grace to steward whatever work You provide with excellence, humility and faithfulness, and to bear witness to Christ in word and in daily conduct. Help them to shine Your light and to rest in Your goodness and provision. We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our Lord, Amen.
