It is written in Colossians 3:23-24, "And whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord, and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the reward of the inheritance; for you serve the Lord Christ." We understand the weight of this situation, for work is not merely a means of provision but a calling to serve God through our diligence and integrity.
First, we must address the foundation of this prayer. It is essential to approach God in the name of Jesus Christ, for there is no other name under heaven by which we may be saved (Acts 4:12). Jesus Himself said, "Most certainly I tell you, whatever you may ask of the Father in my name, he will give it to you" (John 16:23). If this prayer has not been offered in Jesus' name, we encourage you to do so, for it is through Him alone that we have access to the Father.
Now, let us examine the heart behind this request. While it is not wrong to seek job security or promotion, we must ensure that our motives align with God’s will. Are we seeking this promotion for His glory, or is there a desire for self-exaltation, pride, or material gain? The Lord searches the heart and tests the mind (Jeremiah 17:10), and He delights in those who walk in humility and righteousness. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise.
