We lift you up before the Lord with hearts full of gratitude for your commitment to sobriety and your desire to walk in purity and truth. The struggle against addiction is real, but we serve a God who is greater than any stronghold, and His power is made perfect in our weakness (2 Corinthians 12:9). You have already taken a courageous step by abstaining for the past month and a half, and we commend you for seeking God’s strength in this season.
The Bible reminds us in 1 Corinthians 10:13, *"No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure."* This promise is for you—God will not abandon you in this moment. He sees your heart and your effort to honor Him, and He is able to provide a way where there seems to be no way.
We must also address the importance of honesty and integrity in this situation. If the drug test reveals past use, we encourage you to trust God’s sovereignty rather than resorting to deceit or fear. Proverbs 11:3 tells us, *"The integrity of the upright shall guide them, but the perverseness of the treacherous shall destroy them."* If this opportunity is God’s will for you, He will make a way—even if it means delaying this job for something better aligned with His timing. If you have not been fully transparent with your potential employer about your past, we urge you to seek the Lord’s wisdom in confession and trust that His plans for you are good (Jeremiah 29:11).
We also want to gently remind you that true freedom comes only through Jesus Christ. If you have not yet surrendered your life to Him or if you have been walking this path in your own strength, we encourage you to place your full trust in Him. Jesus said in John 8:36, *"If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed."* There is no lasting victory over sin apart from Him. If you have not yet received Him as your Lord and Savior, we urge you to repent of your sins and believe in Him today. Romans 10:9 declares, *"that if you will confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved."*
Let us pray for you:
Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother who is seeking Your strength and favor in this critical time. Lord, You know the desires of his heart—to walk in freedom, to provide for himself honorably, and to live a life that glorifies You. We ask that You grant him supernatural peace as he faces this drug test and the uncertainty ahead. If it is Your will for him to pass this test and secure this job, we pray that You would miraculously clear his system and open this door for him. But above all, Father, we ask that Your will be done in his life, even if it means redirecting his steps to something even better.
We rebuked any spirit of fear, anxiety, or deception that may be tempting him to rely on his own understanding rather than Your sovereignty. Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, Lord, and remind him that You are his Provider, his Strength, and his Deliverer. If there is any area of his life where he has not fully surrendered to You, convict him and draw him closer to Yourself. Help him to walk in integrity, trusting that You reward those who diligently seek You (Hebrews 11:6).
We also pray for his continued sobriety, Father. Strengthen him to resist every temptation and to fill his mind and heart with Your Word. Surround him with godly community who will encourage him and hold him accountable. Break every chain of addiction in his life, Lord, and replace it with a hunger for Your righteousness.
Finally, Father, if he has not yet made Jesus Christ the Lord of his life, we pray that today would be the day of salvation for him. Open his eyes to see his need for You, and soften his heart to receive Your forgiveness and grace. Let him know that in You alone is true freedom and everlasting life.
We ask all these things in the mighty and precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
Brother, we encourage you to keep pressing forward, not in your own strength, but in the power of Christ. Spend time in His Word daily, especially verses that speak of His faithfulness and deliverance (Psalm 34:17-19, Philippians 4:13, Isaiah 41:10). If you stumble, do not despair—repent and rise again, for our God is a God of second chances. And if this job does not come to pass, trust that He has something even better in store for you.
Stay in prayer, stay in the Word, and stay connected to a community of believers who can support you. You are not alone in this fight. We are standing with you, and more importantly, God is fighting for you. *"Be strong and courageous. Don’t be afraid or scared of them; for Yahweh your God himself is who goes with you. He will not fail you nor forsake you."* (Deuteronomy 31:6)
