We come before the throne of grace with heavy hearts, lifting up this neighbor’s family and all who are suffering the deep wounds of abandonment, betrayal, and loss. The pain of being forsaken, whether by a spouse, parent, child, or friend, cuts to the very soul, and the weight of such grief can feel unbearable. But we declare with the psalmist that even if earthly parents abandon, the Lord will never forsake His children. "When my father and my mother forsake me, then Yahweh will take me up." (Psalm 27:10 WEB) The arms of the Father are wide open to receive the brokenhearted, the lonely, and the forgotten.
We also lift up those who have been left without shelter, without family, or without a place to call home. The cry for mercy in the face of such desolation is not lost on our God, who sees every tear and hears every silent plea. "For the Lord loves justice and doesn’t forsake his saints. They are preserved forever." (Psalm 37:28 WEB) We pray for provision, for safe refuge, and for the peace that surpasses understanding to guard their hearts in Christ Jesus.
With great sorrow, we intercede for the unborn, those who have been rejected, despised, or violently taken from this world. The shedding of innocent blood is an abomination before God, and we stand in the gap, asking for His mercy and justice. "Rescue the weak and the needy. Deliver them out of the hand of the wicked." (Psalm 82:4 WEB) We entrust these little ones into the loving care of their Heavenly Father, believing that He receives them into His eternal presence. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18 WEB), and we pray that He would comfort those who mourn the loss of these children, whether through abortion, miscarriage, or neglect.
To those who feel utterly alone, we say: You are not forgotten. The Lord is your Shepherd, and He will lead you to still waters and restore your soul (Psalm 23:1-3 WEB). If you have never placed your trust in Jesus Christ, we urge you to turn to Him now. He is the only way to the Father, the only name by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB). Jesus said, "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28 WEB) Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12 WEB).
Let us pray:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with hearts broken for those who are suffering abandonment, betrayal, and loss. Lord, You are the Father to the fatherless and the Defender of the widow (Psalm 68:5 WEB). We ask that You would draw near to those who feel forsaken, wrapping them in Your love and reminding them that they are never alone. Provide shelter for the homeless, family for the lonely, and hope for the despairing. Heal the wounds of those who have been rejected, and restore what has been broken.
For the unborn who have been lost to abortion or miscarriage, we entrust them into Your care, believing that You receive them into Your kingdom. Comfort those who mourn, and bring conviction to those who have participated in or supported the taking of innocent life. Let Your mercy and justice prevail, Lord.
We pray for those who do not yet know You, that they would turn to Jesus Christ, the only Savior, and find rest for their souls. Break the chains of sin and despair, and replace them with the hope that only comes through faith in Him.
Strengthen this neighbor’s family and all who are grieving. Let them feel Your presence in their darkest moments, and lead them to the peace that only You can give. In the mighty name of Jesus Christ, we pray. Amen.
