Silas
Beloved of All
Your honest cry about being weak has been heard and I am praying for you. To feel that you have no strength left is not a failure in your faith. It is actually the very place where God loves to meet us.
Scripture is clear that His strength is made perfect in our weakness. The apostle Paul knew this well. He prayed three times for a painful weakness to be taken away, and the Lord answered him, My grace is sufficient for you, for My strength is made perfect in weakness. Paul then learned a new way to look at his struggle. He stopped only asking for deliverance and began to find joy in knowing that when he was weak, he could then experience the power of Christ resting upon him. When we are weak and know it, we are more ready to lean on Him, and His strength is imparted to us.
The Lord also promises to give power to the faint and to increase strength to those who have no might. While the outward person may feel worn down and going downhill, God renews the inward person day by day. That is the work He does in seasons of suffering. Suffering causes the roots to go deep. It builds a depth of character and richness in the inner life that cannot be formed any other way. It is not that God delights in your pain, but He uses it to refine you and to make you strong in Him.
There is a beautiful picture in the Psalms of the blessed person whose strength is in the Lord. When that person passes through the valley of weeping, God enables him to turn that very valley into a place of springs and wells. He goes from strength to strength, because his help is not in himself but in the Lord who is his light, his salvation, his shield and his strength. He will give you strength and He will bless you with peace as you wait upon Him and trust Him.
Your present suffering, though very real and heavy now, is not worthy to be compared with the eternal weight of glory God is preparing. These light afflictions for a moment are working something eternal in you. And as God comforts and strengthens you now, He will also make your life a source of comfort to others who will walk through similar valleys.
So I pray for you now that you will experience His sufficient grace in this exact place of weakness. May you know the Lord as the strength of your life, so you need not fear. May your mouth be filled with His praise all day long as you go in the strength of the Lord God. May He lift you up, keep you, and cause His power to be perfected in you as you rest and trust in Him.
