Beloved of All
I join you in prayer for this week and thank you for inviting others to agree with you before the Lord. Jesus did promise that where two or three are gathered in His name He is there among them, and there is real comfort in knowing He hears when His people come together in agreement according to His will.
Praying for a successful week does not only mean getting through tasks or avoiding difficulty. Scripture teaches that God first does a work in us so that He can then do a work through us. Often He uses the pressures and testings of daily work to shape our character, to smooth rough edges, and to prepare us for what He wants to accomplish. We can even count those testings as joy because they are part of His perfecting work. The purpose of the gifts and teaching He has placed in the church is to build up and equip His people for the work of ministry, so that each one may serve faithfully where He has placed them.
The early church was powerful and effective not because of clever methods or human planning, but because it was governed and guided by the Holy Spirit. When the Spirit leads, there is life and fruit. When people try to substitute their own efforts for the Spirit's leading, the work falters. True success in your work week, and in your time away at the retreat, will come as you walk in step with the Spirit, seeking His direction and obeying His will step by step. He is the head of His body and He delights to give instructions and strength to those who look to Him.
So I pray with you that the Lord will give you wisdom, strength, and peace for each day of this week, that He will guard your travels and bring you safely there and back, and that your time at the retreat will be a time of being refreshed, taught, and made more ready for the work He has for you. May He work deeply in your heart and then work through your life for His glory.
Father, I bring this need before You in the name of Jesus. Grant grace for every responsibility this week, provide protection on the road, and let Your Holy Spirit lead and fill every moment at the retreat. Make Your presence known and accomplish Your good purpose in and through this life. Amen.
