Student refusing to come to school

Anonymous

Beloved of All
I have a student who has been goof in class, she is always smiling does a great job following the directions, loves helping other friends, today office staff came to our class because she through a fit in the office refusing to go to school, she asked if her favorite classmate can take her back to the class, I was heartbroken and so sad to the point it made me rethink my career, I think it’s the evil spirit in action, I also have been having increase in absences snd I clearly think it has to do with some spiritual attack because mt class has been great so far, please pray for this and also pray for families, students that they are happy with school class and teacher, Also pray for ant defiance to be removed in Jesus name I pray amen

We hear your heart in this and we are standing with you in prayer, for you are carrying a heavy burden for this little one and for your whole class. It is a beautiful thing that you notice the goodness in this student, her smile, her obedience, her helpful spirit, and it is understandable that seeing her in distress would shake you. We want to encourage you not to let this moment cause you to rethink the calling God has placed on your life to teach and shepherd these children.

You are right to discern that there is a spiritual reality behind what we see. For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. At the same time we know that children can also wrestle with anxiety, fear, tiredness, and struggles at home that come out in strong emotions at school. Both can be true, and God gives us wisdom to address both with prayer and with gentle, practical love.

We see your heart to pray against defiance and spiritual attack, and we join you in that. The weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds 2 Corinthians 10:4. We also take comfort that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7. The enemy would love to use discouragement and increased absences to make you feel defeated, but we remember not to grow weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up Galatians 6:9.

We are praying for you, for this precious student, and for every family and child in your class.

Heavenly Father, we come before You together in the name of Jesus Christ, our only mediator and hope. We thank You for this teacher and for the love You have placed in her heart for these children. We lift up this little girl to You, Lord. You know her by name and You see her when she is joyful and helpful and when she is overwhelmed and refusing. We ask that You calm her heart, remove any spirit of fear, defiance, and confusion, and fill her with Your peace that surpasses all understanding Philippians 4:7. We pray that You would protect her mind and spirit and let her feel safe, loved, and happy to come to school. We pray for her family, that You would strengthen them and give them wisdom to guide her in Your way, for we know to train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it Proverbs 22:6.

Father we also lift up every student and family in this class who have been absent or struggling. We ask that You draw each home close to You, that joy and unity would reign, and that any scheme of the enemy to bring division, discouragement, or oppression would be broken in Jesus name. We pray for our sister who teaches them, that You would renew her strength and remind her that You are with her. We claim Your promise to not be afraid, for You are with us, to not be dismayed, for You are our God, You will strengthen us and help us Isaiah 41:10. Cast all your worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7. Help her to cast this burden on You today.

We ask that You would let this classroom be a place of light, order, love, and learning, where every child feels they belong and where Your presence dwells. Let this trial produce perseverance and maturity, for we count it all joy when we fall into various temptations, knowing that the testing of our faith produces endurance James 1:2-3. We thank You that You are working all things together for good for those who love You Romans 8:28. We pray all of this in the mighty and matchless name of Jesus Christ, amen.

We were so moved reading your note. To know a student as smiling, helpful and eager to follow directions and then see her overwhelmed and refusing to come to school would leave anyone shaken. Of course that moment stayed with you and made you wonder about your work. It shows how deeply you care for these children.

One difficult morning does not undo the good you have built with your class this year. Children can have big, confusing feelings about school even when they love their teacher, and those feelings often have many layers at once. You do not have to carry this alone or figure out every reason by yourself.

It can help to sit down soon with the office staff and your school counselor or administrator while the details are fresh, to hear what happened before she came to the office and to make a simple, shared plan for how to welcome her back calmly next time. Keeping a brief note of patterns around absences can also give you and the team clearer next steps, and a short, caring check in with families often opens doors more than we expect. And please let a trusted colleague or mentor know how heavy you are feeling, so you have support as you support your students.

Father, we bring this teacher and this class before You. Give this little girl peace and a sense of safety at school, give her teacher wisdom and renewed strength, and draw each family and student toward joy and trust in the classroom. Remove what breeds defiance and replace it with calm and cooperation. Guide every next conversation with grace. In Jesus name, amen.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your burden has been carried before the throne of grace and we have prayed with you in this trial.

We understand the heaviness that has come upon you. To see a child who is ordinarily smiling and helpful and obedient in your class become distressed and unwilling to come to school is a wound to a faithful teacher's heart. And when weariness comes so that you rethink your calling, the Lord sees it. Remember that you are a steward, and as it is written, Give an account of thy stewardship. Your labor among these little ones is not unnoticed by the Master, who will at last call you to account not for numbers but for faithfulness. The smallest seed of truth, like a grain of mustard seed, when sown by a teacher who feels unfit to teach, may yet grow by the blessing of God into great fruit.

You speak of a spiritual attack and of defiance. We do wrestle against spiritual wickedness, and we ought to pray earnestly against every evil influence. Yet remember also that God Himself is the great Teacher of children. As David said, Thou hast taught me from my youth. He is a condescending Teacher, patient and kind, and a wise Teacher who draws pupils to Himself. Even with Christ for a Teacher the disciples did not learn without the teaching of the Holy Spirit, who guides us into all truth. Go to that same Spirit, the great Teacher, and ask His sacred influence upon your classroom, upon that dear child, and upon your own heart, that you may not grow weary in well doing, for in due season we shall reap if we faint not.

We have prayed, and we continue to pray, that the Lord who is the effectual Teacher would quiet the heart of this little one, remove all defiance and fear, and make her glad to learn. We have asked Him to put His hand upon every family represented in your class, that parents and children may know His peace and be helped to love learning and to honor those set over them. We have prayed for you, that the Lord would renew your strength, lift your discouragement, and give you words and thoughts suitable for your little auditory, so that you may speak a word in season to the youthful ear. May He guard your class from indifference and keep life and fire in your service for His glory.

O Lord our God, Thou great Teacher of children, look upon this classroom. Bless this child who is troubled in spirit, calm her fears, soften every defiant heart, and draw each little one to love what is good. Bless the families, give them peace toward the school and toward the teacher, and let the children be taught of Thee from their youth. Strengthen Thy servant who teaches, lest she be weary. Fill her with Thy Holy Spirit, guide her into all truth, and let her see fruit unto eternal life, for Jesus sake. Amen.

Father in heaven, we come to you in the name of Jesus Christ, our only Savior. We lift up this teacher to you. Strengthen her heart when she feels discouraged and questions her calling. Remind her that you see her labor and that you are the one who sustains her. Give her renewed hope, rest, and joy in the work you have given her.

We lift up this young student who refused to come to school. You know her heart. We ask that you calm any fear, anger, or confusion in her, and fill her with peace. Help her to feel safe and loved at school and at home. Give wisdom to the teacher and staff to respond with grace and firmness that helps her grow.

We pray for the whole class and for every family. Lord, draw each home toward peace and goodwill. Help families to be encouraged and to work together with the teacher for the good of the children. Where there is defiance or a spirit of resistance, we ask you to soften hearts and replace it with a willing and gentle spirit. Protect these children from every evil influence and let your peace rule over the classroom.

We ask for your help with the absences as well. Provide for every need in these families that keeps children away, and restore consistent attendance and a love for learning.

We ask all of this in the name of Jesus, trusting that you hear and that you are at work for the good of these children and for your glory. Amen.
