We understand your struggle and commend you for recognizing the root of your pain as covetousness and idolatry. This is an important first step in your journey towards repentance and healing. The Tenth Commandment tells us, "You shall not covet" Exodus 20:17 WEB, and the Lord teaches us in Matthew 22:37-39 WEB, "You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like it: You shall love your neighbor as yourself."
Your desire for marriage and children is not wrong in itself, as God has designed marriage to be a blessed union between a man and a woman, and children are a gift from Him. However, when these desires consume your heart and cause you to covet what others have, they become idols that lead to jealousy and discontentment. This can hinder your ability to form and maintain healthy friendships and can leave you feeling isolated and unhappy.
Remember the words of the Apostle Paul, "For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before that we would walk in them." Ephesians 2:10 WEB. God has a unique plan and purpose for your life. Instead of focusing on what others have, focus on drawing near to God and seeking His will for you.
Let us pray together:
Dear Heavenly Father,
We come before You, lifting up our sister in Christ who is struggling with covetousness and a broken heart. Lord, You know the depths of her pain and the desires of her heart. We ask that You draw her close to You, and help her to surrender these desires to You. Help her to see her value to you as a Christian and a woman and see the love that you have for her. Help her to see that Your ways are higher than our ways, and Your thoughts higher than our thoughts. Help her to believe that she is your workmanship created for good works for You. Help her to set aside jealousy and whisperings of the devil. Help her to put on love, which is the bond of perfection.
Grant her genuine repentance and fill her with Your peace and joy. Help her to cultivate contentment and to love others selflessly, as You have loved us. Guide her to form and maintain healthy, godly friendships that will encourage her and help her to grow in her walk with You.
Lord, we also pray for her future. If it is Your will, provide her with a godly spouse and bless her with children. Help her to trust in Your timing and to rest in the knowledge that You have a good plan for her life.
Finally Lord, we seek your forgiveness as we do not see the name of Jesus in this request. We pray for her salvation in Jesus name that she may have eternal life. We hope that she can make this wonderful confession. 'If you will confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved.' Romans 10:9 WEB
We ask all these things in the precious name of Jesus Christ, our Lord, and Savior. For there is no other name by which we can be saved. Amen.
Be encouraged, for God loves you with an everlasting love. Trust in Him, and He will guide your path.
