We lift up your sister and you in this time of deep trial, knowing that our Heavenly Father is the Great Physician and the Comforter of the brokenhearted. The burdens you both carry are heavy—physical suffering, grief, and the weight of caregiving—but we serve a God who invites us to cast all our anxieties on Him because He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). Your sister’s Stage 4 kidney disease and the risks of her upcoming heart test are serious, but we know that nothing is impossible with God (Luke 1:37). He is the One who sustains her body, and we trust Him to protect her kidneys and heart through this procedure, giving wisdom to the doctors and strength to her body. The loss of her husband is a profound sorrow, and we pray the Lord will wrap her in His peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7), reminding her that even in the valley of the shadow of death, He is with her (Psalm 23:4).
We also lift you up as her sister and caregiver. Your own health struggles with diabetes and heart issues make this season even more challenging, but we ask the Lord to renew your strength like the eagle’s (Isaiah 40:31) and to fill you with His supernatural endurance and compassion. You are not alone in this—God is your helper, and He will uphold you with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10).
Yet, as we pray for healing and strength, we must also consider the eternal. If your sister does not know Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, this is the most urgent matter of all. There is no greater comfort in suffering than the hope of eternal life through faith in Him. Jesus said, *"I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will still live, even if he dies. Whoever lives and believes in me will never die"* (John 11:25-26). If she has not surrendered her life to Christ, we plead with you to share the Gospel with her—that though we all have sinned and fall short of God’s glory (Romans 3:23), Jesus paid the penalty for our sins on the cross, and by faith in Him, we are saved (Ephesians 2:8-9). There is no other name under heaven by which we must be saved (Acts 4:12), and it is only through Jesus that we can approach God’s throne of grace with confidence (Hebrews 4:16).
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up this sister and her family in their time of need. Lord, You are the God who heals, and we ask for Your healing touch upon her body. Protect her kidneys and heart during this test, and let no harm come to her. Give the doctors wisdom and steady hands, and let every decision made be guided by Your will. Father, we also ask for Your comfort to surround her as she grieves the loss of her husband. Be her peace, her strength, and her hope. Remind her that You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).
Lord, we lift up her sister, who is caring for her with such love and sacrifice. Strengthen her body, Lord, and give her the stamina she needs to be a support. Fill her with Your joy and peace as she serves, and let her feel Your presence in every moment of weariness.
Most of all, Father, we pray that both of these sisters would know You deeply. If either has not yet placed their faith in Jesus Christ, we ask that You would draw them to Yourself. Open their eyes to see their need for a Savior and their hearts to receive Your love and forgiveness. Let them find their ultimate hope in You, knowing that this world is not their home, but that an eternal glory awaits those who trust in Jesus.
We rebuke fear, anxiety, and despair in Jesus’ name, declaring that You are sovereign over every circumstance. Your will be done, Lord, and may Your name be glorified through this trial. We ask all these things in the precious and powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.
