Struggling with anxiety

I struggle with anxiety and it's crippling my every day life. Can't sleep. For the last two days it's been finances and home safety worries with little cause. Please pray I find peace. God has blessed me so much and I'm so happy that I know Christ is my Savior.

We are deeply moved by your heartfelt request and rejoice with you in the knowledge that Christ is your Savior—what a precious and eternal blessing that is! Your faith in Him is the very foundation upon which we can stand against the storms of anxiety, for He has already overcome the world (John 16:33). It is clear that you love the Lord, and we want to remind you that His perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18). Though your struggles with anxiety feel overwhelming right now, we urge you to cling to the truth that God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control (2 Timothy 1:7). The worries you describe—finances and home safety—are real concerns, but they are not meant to master you. Jesus Himself teaches us in Matthew 6:25-34 not to be anxious about our lives, for our Heavenly Father knows what we need. He cares for the birds of the air and the lilies of the field, and how much more does He care for you, His beloved child?

The fact that these anxieties are disrupting your sleep is a sign that the enemy is seeking to steal your peace, but we must remember that Satan is the father of lies (John 8:44). He wants you to fixate on "what ifs" rather than on the "I AM" who holds all things together. We encourage you to take every thought captive to obey Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). When anxiety creeps in, combat it with Scripture. Meditate on Philippians 4:6-7: *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Notice how this verse ties prayer, thanksgiving, and peace together. You’ve already begun this by acknowledging God’s blessings in your life—that is a powerful weapon against anxiety!

We also want to gently ask: Are you spending time in God’s Word daily? Are you praying *specific* prayers against these fears, or are you allowing them to spiral in your mind? Sometimes, anxiety thrives in the silence of our own thoughts, but when we speak God’s truth aloud, we break its power. Psalm 56:3 says, *"When I am afraid, I will trust in you."* Trust is an active choice, not a passive feeling. You can choose to trust Him even when your emotions lag behind.

Let us also consider whether there are practical steps you can take to steward your peace. Are there financial or safety measures you can implement to honor God with wisdom, even as you trust Him with the outcomes? Proverbs 16:3 encourages us to *"Commit your deeds to the Lord, and your plans shall succeed."* This doesn’t mean you’ll never face hardship, but it does mean you can walk in confidence that God is with you.

Now, let us pray for you:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our sibling in Christ, who is battling the heavy burden of anxiety. Lord, You see the sleepless nights, the racing thoughts, and the weight of fear that feels so real. But we declare that Your Word is more real, and Your promises are unshakable. We ask You to flood their heart with Your peace—the peace that surpasses all understanding. Remind them that they are not defined by their anxiety but by their identity in Christ. You have not abandoned them; You are their Shepherd, and they shall not want (Psalm 23:1).

Father, we rebuke the spirit of fear that is tormenting them. Satan has no authority here, for greater is He who is in them than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We command every anxious thought to be silenced in the name of Jesus. Replace it with the truth of Your love, Your provision, and Your sovereignty. Help them to cast all their anxieties on You, because You care for them (1 Peter 5:7).

Lord, we pray for practical grace too. If there are steps they need to take to walk in wisdom—whether in finances, safety, or health—give them clarity and discipline. But even as they act, let them rest in the knowledge that their security is ultimately in You. When they lie down to sleep, may Your Word be their meditation, and may Your angels encamp around them (Psalm 34:7).

We thank You that this battle is not theirs to fight alone. You are with them, and we, their brothers and sisters in Christ, stand with them too. Strengthen their faith, Lord. Let them wake each morning with a song of praise on their lips, knowing that this is the day You have made (Psalm 118:24). We ask all this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Prince of Peace. Amen.

Finally, we want to leave you with this encouragement: Anxiety is not a sign of weak faith—even the apostle Paul faced "thorns in the flesh" (2 Corinthians 12:7). But God’s grace is sufficient for you. Keep fighting the good fight, not in your own strength, but in His. And remember, we are cheering you on, believing that God will bring you into a place of unshakable peace as you fix your eyes on Him. If this struggle persists, we also encourage you to seek godly counsel—whether from a pastor, a mature believer, or a biblical counselor—who can walk with you in this season. You are not alone!

We're right there with you, friend, feeling your sleepless nights and the weight of your worries. It's tough, we know, but remember, Jesus is right here with us, saying, "Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28). Let's claim that promise together.

We're not just praying for you; we're also reminding you that God has given us His Spirit, not a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-discipline (2 Timothy 1:7). That means we can face our anxieties with courage, love others even in our struggles, and have the self-control to make wise decisions.

Let's also remember that God cares for us deeply. He's not surprised by your worries, and He's not distant. He's right there, ready to help you sort through your finances and home safety concerns. Let's pray for wisdom and trust Him with the outcomes.

And hey, let's not forget to praise Him even in the midst of this storm. There's power in thanking Him for His blessings, even when we're feeling anxious. It shifts our focus from our problems to our Provider.

So, let's keep fighting, friend. We're in this together, and we believe that God is going to bring you into a place of unshakable peace. Keep looking to Him, and let's keep praying for each other. You're not alone; we're right here with you.

We want to thank you for allowing us the honor of lifting you up in prayer during this season of overwhelming anxiety. Your heart for the Lord shines through even in this struggle, and we are so encouraged by your faith in Christ as your Savior—what a beautiful testimony of His goodness in your life.

These past days, we have continued to pray that God would wrap you in His perfect peace that surpasses all understanding, guarding your heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7). We’ve asked the Lord to quiet the storm of fear with His still, small voice, reminding you that He is your Provider, Protector, and ever-present Help. We’ve also prayed for rest—deep, restoring sleep that refreshes both body and soul—as you cast every care upon Him, knowing He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7).

If the Lord has begun to ease this burden or given you moments of His peace, we’d love to rejoice with you in a praise report. Even small victories are worth celebrating! But if the weight of anxiety still feels heavy, please don’t hesitate to share an update so we can keep standing with you in prayer. You are not alone in this, and we are here to walk alongside you, trusting God to carry what you cannot.

May you feel His presence tangibly today, reminding you that His grace is sufficient, and His strength is made perfect in your weakness. We’re believing for His comfort to flood your heart as you seek Him. In Jesus’ name.
