My grand daughter age 6 is in the first grade, well placed in first grade. She is struggling so hard trying to still learning her ABC's and 123"s. She has a learning problem and the doctor put her on the Daytrana patch, like Retalin. SHe just can't retain the info she just learned. She can study the letter D,R,K, etc. and still can't remember it and it has been 3 weeks now. Something in her brain just work make it click. The teacher says she really tried and she isn't a lazy student. No disipline problem, she's attentive in class but it just won't click in her head to retain what she just learned and to keep remmbering it for future use. Like the next days use. I wanted to keep her in kindergarten but the teachers said move her up to first grade. I hope they are right. How can they move her up to first grade when she doesn't know ABC"S and 123's rhyming, phonics. Now she will be so more overwhelmed because she really needs to know these things for first grade. She placed last in her class. yes last. ANd I just want to cry because she is just lost in her learning and she does see other children learning in a faster rate, and they even has several kids actually reading in kindergarten and she just sits there and not part of the participating. I really feel she will fail because the teaches moved her forward not knowing the very basics. please pray for her to get through this huge challenge she will have to face when she goes back to school in 2 weeks! And we study everyday too. She needs your prayers. Lord reach to to her and heal her problem with her learning disibility. and others like her too. God bless you
