Stress

We join with you in bringing this burden of stress before the Lord, and we ask Him to lift it and replace it with His perfect peace. We know how heavy stress can feel when it touches every part of life, and we are grateful you have turned to the Lord for help, for He invites us to cast every care on Him.

The Scripture reminds us, In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus. Phil 4:6-7 We also read, casting all your worries on him, because he cares for you. 1 Pet 5:7 And Jesus Himself says, Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart; and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light. Matt 11:28-30 We are encouraged too that when we cast our burden on Yahweh, he will sustain us, he will never allow the righteous to be moved. Psalm 55:22 And the Lord promises, Don't you be afraid, for I am with you. Don't be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness. Isa 41:10

We notice your request did not mention the name of Jesus, and we want to gently remind you that it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and find true rest for our souls. Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me. John 14:6 There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved. Acts 4:12 If you have not already done so, we encourage you to put your trust in Jesus Christ, believing that He died for your sins and rose again, confessing Him as Lord, for that is how we enter into the peace and presence of God and receive the help we need in every trial.

We pray together for you now. Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ, lifting up this dear one who is weighed down by stress. Lord, You see every pressure, every worry, every sleepless thought, and You know the source of each burden. We ask You to remove what is not of You and to give wisdom and strength for what must be carried. Pour out Your peace that surpasses all understanding to guard heart and mind in Christ Jesus. Teach us to bring everything to You in prayer with thanksgiving, to rest in Your care, and to walk in Your gentle yoke. Help us to trust You more than our circumstances, to seek You daily in Your Word, to rest well, and to lean on the fellowship of believers You have placed around us. Lead us away from trying to carry these burdens alone and draw us close to Your sustaining grace. We ask this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.

We encourage you to continue to bring your stresses to the Lord moment by moment, to spend time in Scripture and prayer, and to share your burdens with trusted Christian community who can support you and pray with you. As you cast your cares on Him each day, we trust you will experience more of His strength and His rest.

We hear how wearing it is to live under stress that never seems to lift. Wanting the Lord to remove every stress is an honest prayer, and we are glad you brought it to Him.

Sometimes stress is our whole system telling us we have been carrying too much for too long without enough rest or support. It does not mean you are failing. It often means you need space to breathe, to be honest about what is weighing on you, and to let others help carry it with you.

One simple next step that helps many people is to name what feels heaviest right now. Not every stress at once, but the one or two pressures that sit most heavily today. Bring those specifically to the Lord in a short, plain prayer, and consider sharing them with one trusted person, like a pastor, a friend or a counselor, who can pray with you and help you think through practical support.

We are praying for you and standing with you as you seek God's peace and direction.

Father, we bring our friend to You right now. You see every pressure and worry they carry. We ask for Your calm to settle their heart and mind, for wisdom for each decision before them, and for rest for their body and soul. Guide them to the help and support they need, and remind them day by day that You are near. In Jesus' name, amen.

Rest in the LORD is the word which meets your cry, and oh, what sweet precepts these are, easier to read and to hear than they are to practice, yet if grace is given, blessedly easy to practice. Surely if it is easy to rest anywhere, it must be easy to rest in the Lord.

You ask the Lord to remove every stress, and He hears the weary ones who come to Him. Our Lord Jesus says, Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. This is not a rest promised only after death, nor after a long probation, but a present rest, given there and then when we come to Him by faith. It is not said, I will give you partial rest, but rest, perfect and complete in itself, in the blood and righteousness of Jesus.

We cannot enjoy true peace as long as sin remains upon the conscience, nor as long as the mind is stayed upon its own cares. The promise is, Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee, because he trusteth in thee. That peace is peace, peace, doubled for assurance, and it is kept for you by Him who cannot lie.

To do the will of Jesus, this is rest. To be sure that what you are doing is what Jesus would have you do is peace. And when duties press and throng about you, the way of rest is not to tell yourself about your trouble and let anxiety feed upon itself, for that very anxiety unfits you to meet the difficulty. It is to come as a fluttered dove driven by stress of weather into the bosom of Jesus, that port of peace which cannot reject you.

So we pray for you now, that the Lord who is the strength of His people in the time of trouble would lift this burden of stress from you. May He turn your mind to stay itself upon Christ, to trust His infinite mercy treasured up in the once pierced heart of the Well Beloved, and to learn of Him who is meek and lowly. May He give you that rest which is His gift, and therefore genuine and precious, not counterfeit, rest of mind and fixedness of belief, rest of conscience through atonement, and rest of heart in doing His will. May the Spirit of the Lord cause you to rest, to recline upon the soft couch of His promise, and to delight yourself in the abundance of peace even in this dark world of care, till you enter into that perfect rest which remains for the people of God.

We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ our only salvation and our peace. Amen.
