We hear your heart in this and we join with you in seeking the Lord's will together in Jesus' name. We understand that tension of feeling the Lord nudging us to minister to someone while our flesh feels weary and reluctant, especially when that person is not always responsive and at times even ignores messages. It can feel discouraging and draining, and we commend you for bringing this honestly before the Lord and asking for His grace and strength rather than simply pulling away.
We are reminded that God does not call us because we feel strong or because the other person makes it easy, but He calls us to be faithful and He supplies the strength as we obey. He gives power to the faint and to him who has no might he increases strength Isaiah 40:29. His grace is sufficient for us, for His power is made perfect in weakness 2 Corinthians 12:9. When we feel we do not want to reach out, that is the very moment to lean not on our own willingness but on the Holy Spirit who leads and empowers us, for God didn't give us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control 2 Timothy 1:7.
We also want to gently encourage you that faithfulness is our part and the response is in God's hands. We are called to speak His truth whether they listen or not, as He told Ezekiel you shall speak my words to them, whether they will hear, or whether they will refuse Ezekiel 2:7. Our responsibility is to plant and water faithfully, but God gives the increase 1 Corinthians 3:6. Therefore we should not grow weary in doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we don't give up Galatians 6:9. Their silence or lack of response is not necessarily a measure of your obedience or worth, and we should not take it personally as rejection of us, but understand that ultimately people respond to the Lord Himself.
We encourage you to continue to be led by the Holy Spirit in both when to speak and when to be silent, and how to speak. Let your speech always be with grace, seasoned with salt, that you may know how you ought to answer each one Colossians 4:6. The Holy Spirit will teach you in that same hour what you ought to say Luke 12:12. Your honest confession is itself a mark of grace at work, for to feel your own want of strength and your need to be led by the Spirit is where true ministry begins. Divine grace that forgives sin and works faith is no prize for exertion but a gift for those without strength, and the same grace that saved you is the grace that must sustain you in this service.
It is right to desire to speak only as the Holy Spirit leads, for He has not made men speak for Him under the spell of genius but as they have been moved by His Holy Spirit. You may not always know at the time that the moving power is the Spirit of God, yet no one else works us to this holy thing but He. He is the great Teacher who knows the mind of God and He will tell you how to pray and what to speak. Resort to Him, for there is no instructor like He is.
Do not be discouraged when your messages are ignored or meet with little response. The Lord of Hosts will save men but He will not give men a yard of space for boasting, and the fruit of faithful witness is often hidden from our eyes. Your part is to be emptied of self and to be faithful, leaving the increase with God who works where He wills. We cannot command the wind, our strength lies in prayer, in asking the blessed Spirit to awake and come and breathe upon both your heart and the heart of the one to whom you minister.
I pray with you now. Father, grant to this your servant grace for grace. Strengthen what is weak, and in that weakness make your power perfect. Fill this one with the Comforter who gladdens and strengthens, and give wisdom to speak a word in season as the Spirit directs, with humility and love and without fear of man.
