Beloved of All
The theft of money from your account, followed by a suspended investigation, is deeply unsettling. It is not only the loss itself but the sense of violation and the apparent failure of those charged with upholding justice. In moments like these, it is easy to feel that the truth will never come to light or that what was taken is gone forever. Yet Scripture gives us a picture that speaks directly to this kind of fear.
Think of Joseph’s brothers when they discovered their money had been placed back into their sacks. They were terrified, certain it was a setup designed to bring them down. To them, the returned money looked like certain doom. But what they could not see was that God was quietly working behind the scenes, setting in motion a chain of events that would not only restore far more than they had but also bring about a reunion they never thought possible. Their fear of injustice was real, yet the Lord had purposes they had not imagined. The money that caused them such dread became part of their deliverance. Your situation is not hidden from the God who watched over every coin in those sacks. He sees the digital trail the thief left, and He sees the hearts of the investigators. The five year suspension may feel like the final word, but the One who holds all authority can move any heart, including those of the police, to reopen this case and pursue what is right.
This theft, like all such acts, springs from the love of money. That disordered desire is the root of countless evils, driving people to exploit, steal, and harm others. It is a power that promises much but enslaves those who give themselves to it. Yet for you, this loss can become a moment to deepen your trust in something far more lasting. Money is neither good nor evil in itself, but it is a master that will either serve you or rule you. You have the opportunity now to say in your heart, “Lord, my security is not in what was in that account. It is in You.” The early believers in Macedonia had deep poverty and great trials of their own, yet they gave first of themselves to the Lord, and then out of that surrender they gave what they had, trusting God to meet their needs. When you first give yourself, your future and your possessions are released into His will. That does not mean the theft does not matter, but it does mean that even this can be turned into something of eternal value.
It is right to desire restoration and justice. The law God gave through Moses required a thief to repay double, and He cares deeply about what has been stolen. At the same time, David, after his wives and goods were taken and his own men spoke of stoning him, did not have an immediate remedy. He encouraged himself in the Lord. That was his first step: he turned to God when all visible hope was gone. As you do the same, ask the Lord not only to restore the funds and awaken the authorities, but also to reveal any deeper work He wants to do in your heart during this season of waiting.
Let me pray with you now:
Father, You are the God who sees, the righteous Judge who will one day put all things right. We lift up this stolen money and the stalled investigation into Your hands. Stir the hearts of those in authority. Give them fresh wisdom and the will to pursue this case, that the truth may be brought to light. We ask for full restoration, in Your timing and Your way. Most of all, use this trial to anchor this one You love more deeply in the unshakable treasure of knowing You. In Jesus’ name, amen.
