Disciple of Prayer
Still praying with a heavy heart that we’ll reconcile. I surrender all this to you Lord Jesus. I feel somehow peaceful in this whole process, but at the same time I feel incomplete. I’m waiting in you, and it seems to be getting easier even though I don’t know how. I feel guilty that I’m not frantic or trying to call or text her and just stand steady and silent. I worry that it means maybe she’s done, or maybe I’m done. I know it’s only been two weeks of no communication but it feels like an eternity. Lord I give it all up to you. Your ways are not mine. You’ve given me the strength to continue, great family and friends to lean on in this process. I draw nearer to you praying and going to church sometimes twice a day to sit in your presence. But I feel like there’s a part of me that’s missing. 7 years and now silence. I know there are things that are beyond my control. I know my mother in law is in her ear, there are finances, and my step son who needs his mom. I just pray she finds her way to you oh Lord. I definitely still feel the sadness, even though I still feel your spirit inside me. Help me to not feel guilty over this feeling. Help me to become the man you call me to be. And should there be a path to reconciliation please help us find it and return with a break in the cycle so that we may live a fuller more intimate connected marriage. I trust my life wants and desires in your hands Lord. I pray in Jesus name. Amen

We hear the deep ache in your heart as you surrender your marriage to the Lord, and we stand with you in prayer, lifting your wife, your stepson, and your entire family before the throne of grace. Your willingness to wait in silence, to resist the urge to frantically pursue, and to draw nearer to God in worship, even twice a day, is a powerful testimony of faith. The peace you feel, though mingled with sorrow, is a gift from the Holy Spirit, a reminder that He is holding you even when circumstances feel uncertain. Do not let guilt over this peace weigh you down; it is not indifference but trust in God’s sovereignty.

The Bible tells us in Lamentations 3:25-26, "The Lord is good to those who wait for him, to the soul who seeks him. It is good that one should wait quietly for the salvation of the Lord." Your quiet waiting is not passivity, it is active trust. And though the silence feels like an eternity, remember that God is at work even in the unseen. Psalm 37:7 says, "Rest in the Lord, and wait patiently for him." You are doing exactly that, and it is pleasing to Him.

We must also acknowledge the spiritual battle at hand. The enemy seeks to divide marriages, to sow discord through outside influences (like your mother-in-law’s involvement), and to make you doubt God’s promises. But we rebuke every lie that whispers, "She’s done" or "You’re done." Marriage is a covenant before God, and He hates divorce (Malachi 2:16). We pray that He would soften your wife’s heart, break any ungodly soul ties, and silence the voices that do not align with His will for your marriage.

Finances, stepfamily dynamics, and past hurts can feel overwhelming, but God is not intimidated by them. Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We pray for provision, wisdom, and healing in every area of your marriage. And for your stepson, may he feel the love of Christ through you, even in this season of separation.

You are right to feel incomplete; marriage is designed to reflect Christ and the Church (Ephesians 5:31-32), and when that union is fractured, it leaves a void. But God is using this time to refine you into the man He has called you to be. We pray that you would grow in patience, humility, and dependence on Him. If reconciliation is His will, He will make a way where there seems to be no way. And if He restores your marriage, may it be stronger, more intimate, and free from the cycles of the past.

We also lift up your wife, asking the Lord to draw her back to Himself. May she experience His love in a fresh way and be convicted of any sin or unforgiveness in her heart. If there has been unfaithfulness, addiction, or emotional detachment, we pray for repentance and healing. If pride or bitterness has taken root, may the Holy Spirit uproot it.

Father God, we come before You on behalf of this marriage. You see the pain, the longing, and the faithfulness of this husband who waits on You. We ask that You would move mightily in this situation. Break every chain of division, silence every voice that does not align with Your will, and restore what has been broken. If reconciliation is Your plan, make it clear and undeniable. If not, give this man the strength to accept Your will and find his completeness in You alone.

Lord, we declare that this marriage is under Your protection. We rebuke the spirit of divorce and declare that what God has joined together, no man, or mother-in-law, or circumstance, shall separate (Matthew 19:6). We pray for a supernatural breakthrough, for open hearts, and for a renewed commitment to Your design for marriage.

And to you, brother, we say: Your feelings of incompleteness are valid, but they do not define your future. God is your portion (Psalm 73:26), and He will satisfy you even in this trial. Keep seeking Him, keep trusting Him, and keep standing on His promises. The God who parted the Red Sea can surely part the silence in your marriage.

We pray all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the Author and Perfecter of our faith. Amen.

We hear you. Surrender and sadness are not enemies. You have placed your marriage in God’s hands, and that has opened room for a quiet peace, yet you still feel the hollow ache of seven years suddenly silent. That is not a sign of weak faith or something to feel guilty about. It is a human heart grieving a real loss while clinging to God. Both the steadiness and the tears can coexist, and neither one means you are done or that she is done. Two weeks of no contact can feel like an eternity, but in the healing of a fractured relationship, a season of stillness can actually be a gift, a time when God works in ways we cannot see, including in your own heart.

The guilt you mention over not being frantic, not calling or texting, is understandable but unnecessary. You are not abandoning your wife; you are trusting God to move where you cannot. That quiet restraint may be the most loving thing you can offer right now. Keep leaning into church, prayer, and the good family and friends God has given you. Those supports matter. If you haven’t yet, consider sitting down with a pastor or a Christian counselor who can walk with you through the tangled worries about finances, your mother-in-law’s influence, and your stepson’s needs, without you carrying it all alone. You do not have to figure this out by yourself.

As you wait, let your focus rest not on manufacturing a particular outcome but on becoming the man God is shaping you to be in this very season. That is never wasted, regardless of how the marriage story unfolds. We are praying with you that if a door to reconciliation opens, it will bring a genuine break in the cycle and a deeper, more intimate connection.

Jesus, thank You for the peace You have already given this man. Ease the guilt that weighs on him, and hold his sadness tenderly. Watch over his wife, soften her heart toward You, and untangle the pressures surrounding them. Give them both clarity and protection. And if it is Your will, restore this marriage in a way that unmistakably displays Your redemption. In Your name, Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your peace in this surrender is not the peace of callousness, but the peace of a man who has at last unclenched his hands from the helm. Do not mistake this for indifference. A ship in the storm, when the captain has done all prudent things, does well to lash the wheel and trust the anchors. The guilt you feel over your silence is a snare. That frantic reaching for the phone, that desperate texting, would be the rashness a man trusts in, not the trust God honors. To handle a matter wisely is to find good, and the true way to handle a matter wisely is to trust God. You are not being idle; you are acting in all prudence by standing steady and silent before Him. The noise of anxiety would only drown the voice you need to hear.

You speak of a part of you missing, and it is well you feel it. Seven years joined as one flesh, and now the silence, this is a wound, and wounds ache. But do not let this ache drive you to the cisterns that hold no water. Your mother-in-law’s words, the finances, the needs of your stepson, these are the visible stones in the path, and you see them clearly. Yet behind them all beats the living heart of a God who is not distant, a God with a great, warm, loving heart, who is active and working in this very business. The restlessness that tempts you to interfere is the old nature trying to build its own kingdom. Submit yourself to God as your King. Let Him take care of those things you cannot control; they are all under His hand, like a map covered by a human palm.

You pray she finds her way to the Lord, and this is your chiefest plea, not merely the return of comfort. Good. For if a reconciliation were forged on any other ground than upon the Rock of Ages, you would but plaster over a wall that must fall again. The cycle you mourn can only be broken by the Creator’s hand. But here is the hard and honest question the Spirit puts to you now, in the waiting: Is there any iniquity in your own heart unconfessed? The man saved on honest principles stands erect and fears no accuser. Search yourself. Is there some private drain of sin you have excused? Is there any bitterness taking root that you disguise as righteous sorrow? He does not try to make his sins appear less heinous than they are. If guilt lies heavy on you, confess it fully, and then look to the blood that cleanses from all sin. You cannot stand in the gap for your household while cherishing a secret wedge of sin in your own life.

Do not misunderstand God’s waiting. He waits to be gracious, high up and lifted up, but that waiting is not an endorsement of wrongdoing. He is a God ready to pardon, yes, but He will not bless a path that defies His order. Your longing for a fuller, more intimate marriage is holy, a dim echo of Christ and His church. But that can never be built upon the sand of convenience or any arrangement that sets aside His commands. Trust His power to do what is right in His time, not to achieve what might merely soothe your loneliness. If He restores, it will be on the terms of His mercy and truth meeting together in your lives. If He does not, His grace remains sufficient for the path of lonely obedience.

Bury your expectation in the tomb of His will. Make God your only pillar, for every other prop will rot. The sadness you feel is not a sin; it is the hurt of love. But do not let it sour into a doubt of His goodness. "My soul, wait thou only upon God; for my expectation is from him." When you go to that quiet house of worship, sometimes twice a day, and sit in His presence, do not merely do as God’s people do while your heart wanders. Let the broken spirit and contrite heart be your sacrifice, for that He will not despise. In that silent waiting, you are not merely hoping for her return, but learning to trust simply and entirely in Him, whether the fig tree blossoms or not. Let that trust be your final word, for you trust not in a dead idea, but in the living God, and that trust can never be put to shame.
