Starting new meds, praying for peace and sanity

Shtariaway

Disciple of Prayer
I have borderline personality disorder and will be starting a mood stabilizer for help. I need prayer for Gods mighty hand so sustain me and prevent the meds from interfering negatively in my daily life. I have intense anxieties about taking this. Please pray for peace

We hear your heart, dear one, and we stand with you before the throne of grace, lifting your fears, your struggles, and your hope for healing to the Lord who sees you and loves you deeply. It takes great courage to seek help and to trust God even when the path feels uncertain. We want you to know that you are not alone, your Heavenly Father is near, and He holds your future in His hands.

The anxieties you feel about starting this medication are valid, but we encourage you to bring them before the Lord, casting every care upon Him, for He cares for you (1 Peter 5:7). The enemy would love to keep you bound in fear, but we rebuke that spirit of anxiety in the name of Jesus. God has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We declare that soundness of mind over you, may the Lord quiet the storms within and grant you His perfect peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7).

We also pray for wisdom for your doctors and for the medication to work as God intends, bringing balance and stability without harmful effects. The Lord is your sustainer, and He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20). We ask that He would guard your heart and mind, that the medication would not numb your spirit or dull your connection with Him, but rather that it would free you to walk more fully in the purpose He has for you.

Father God, we come before You now on behalf of our sister/brother in Christ. You know the depths of their struggle, the weight of their fears, and the longing of their heart for peace. We ask that You would go before them as they begin this new treatment. Sustain them by Your mighty hand, Lord. Calm their anxieties, steady their emotions, and fill them with Your unshakable peace. Let them feel Your presence in a tangible way, reminding them that they are never alone. We pray against any negative side effects and ask that You would bless this medication to bring healing, not harm. Strengthen their faith, Lord, and help them to trust You even when the path is unclear. May they experience Your love in deeper ways as they walk this journey, and may Your grace be their sufficiency in every moment. We ask all of this in the powerful name of Jesus, the Great Physician, who heals and restores. Amen.

We encourage you to hold fast to God’s promises, even on the days when doubt or fear creep in. Meditate on His Word, for it is life and health to your flesh (Proverbs 4:22). Surround yourself with believers who can pray with you and remind you of God’s faithfulness. And remember, your worth is not defined by your struggles, you are fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), and God is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).

If you have not yet surrendered your life to Jesus Christ, we gently invite you to consider doing so. It is only through Him that we have access to the Father and the hope of eternal life. Jesus said, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me” (John 14:6). If you would like to receive Him as your Lord and Savior, you can pray a simple prayer like this: “Lord Jesus, I believe You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sins and invite You into my heart and life. Be my Lord and Savior. In Your name, I pray. Amen.” If you prayed that prayer for the first time, we rejoice with you and encourage you to seek out a Bible-believing church where you can grow in your faith.

You are loved, you are seen, and you are held in the palm of God’s hand. Keep pressing into Him, He will never let you go.

We’re so grateful you reached out to share this step with us. It takes real courage to start a new medication, especially when anxiety is already so intense. Many of us understand that knot in the stomach before taking that first dose, the blend of hope and fear. We’re joining you in prayer right now, asking God to quiet your heart and give you a deep, settled peace.

One thing we’ve seen help others in similar moments is to approach the first days gently, one hour at a time. You don’t need to figure out the whole week or month. When worries about side effects or “what if” thoughts flood in, you can actively turn your mind toward Christ’s presence with you in that very moment. He is mindful of you, and you can talk to Him about everything you’re feeling, no filter needed. As you do, He can renew your thinking, giving you steadiness without you having to muster it on your own.

A practical step: stay in close, honest communication with your doctor during these early weeks. Let them know exactly what you’re experiencing, both physically and emotionally. You’re not alone in this; they are a partner in your care, and their guidance can help adjust things if needed. Also, let a trusted friend or family member know what you’re walking through, so someone nearby is praying and checking in.

We pray with you now:

Jesus, hold this dear person close. Calm the storm of anxiety and remind them that You are with them in every heartbeat. Sustain their body and mind as they begin this medication, and protect them from any harm. Give them moments of quiet and sanity that can only come from You. Let them know, deep down, that they are not abandoned. Guide their medical team and give wisdom all around. In Your name we pray, Amen.

The infinite God has thoughts of peace towards you, and these thoughts are not altered by the shifting shadows of your fears. You are trembling at the edge of a new path, but the Lord sees the end from the beginning, and His thoughts toward you are only known perfectly to Himself. Yet this much He has declared: they are thoughts of peace. He is at peace with you through the atoning blood of Jesus Christ, and He seeks your peace, He creates your peace, He sustains your peace. Even this very step into a new medicine is under His ordering, for He designs your highest good. Though your mind is troubled with intense anxieties, remember that the blood of Jesus whispers peace within, a peace that gleams with heavenly light even in the midnight of this world of care.

Fear not. This is not a suggestion but a command from the lips of your Redeemer, who says, “Fear not, I will help thee.” You feel yourself to be a worm, and in that very lowliness you are fit for His help, for He helps the helpless. His help is opportune; it comes at just the right time, not a moment too soon or too late. Do not fear that this medicine will interfere negatively; that is to forget that God’s thoughts of peace encompass every detail. The great peace which belongs to those who love God’s law is a restfulness of the heart even when strife rages within. If your will is brought to delight in God’s will, yes, even His will in leading you to this treatment, then the fangs of the serpent are extracted from your anxiety. The sorrow is sucked out of the sorrow by the lips of acquiescence.

You shall be kept in perfect peace, peace, peace, as the margin reads, for your mind is stayed on Him because you trust in Him. This is not a peace that depends on the absence of turmoil, but one that holds fast when sorrows surge around. Jesus Himself whispers to His poor servant, fallen as dead at His feet, “Fear not.” It is disobedience, then, to be afraid. Be a witness daily that faith in the blood of Jesus Christ really does give calm and peace to the mind. Let God’s mighty hand sustain you, not merely by preventing all discomfort, but by giving you Himself, for when you can truly say, “You are my God,” what more does a man need? What more can a human soul desire?

I am a brand plucked out of the fire, and so are you, dear one. And can He have taught you to trust in His name, and thus far have brought you, to put you to shame? No, never. He who has been your Teacher from your youth will not cast you off. Pray that simple prayer: “Help Thou me.” It is short, yet comprehensive, and it reaches the ear of the Lord of Sabaoth. The clouds may gather, but the skies shall send out a sound, and His arrows of light shall go abroad. Peace, perfect peace, is your portion. Trust Him for it now.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

The war that rages within the soul is the most grievous of all, far more dangerous than any conflict with foreign armies or strife among neighbors. When the body rises up against the spirit, when fears and passions mutiny, that is the battle which can truly wound us unto death. You feel this keenly, and your anxiety over the new medicine reveals the depth of that inward disturbance. Yet take heart: the very One who stilled the storm with a word is near to you now, and He leaves you His own peace, a peace not as the world gives.

Do not suppose that peace comes from the mere absence of outward trouble, or even from the calming of your nerves by a remedy. True peace is nothing less than the cutting off of the diseased thing, the quieting of the mutinous thoughts, so that heaven and earth may be united within you. The physician gives a potion to restore the body’s balance, but God alone can set the soul in order. Therefore commit yourself not to the medicine, but to the hand of Him who feeds you from your youth up. If a human benefactor promised to supply all your needs, you would cease from anxiety; how much more when the Lord of all provides? Cast off worldly care. The mood stabilizer is a tool in His providence; He who knows the number of hairs on your head will not let it harm you unless He wills it for a greater good.

Remember that peace is the mother of all good things, the foundation of joy. But this peace is found only where there is faith and love. Without faith, love is empty, and peace is but a truce with robbers. Cling therefore to the things of the Spirit. When the meddlesome reasonings of fear or the lusts of the flesh rise up, pray with the Psalmist: “I was at peace with them that hate peace.” Be at peace within, by submitting every thought to Christ, and nothing from without will be able to harm you.

I will pray with you that God’s mighty hand sustains you, that no adverse effect troubles your daily life, and that you may lead a quiet and peaceable life in all godliness and honesty. May the peace of God, which passes all understanding, guard your heart and mind in Christ Jesus. And may you, along with all the faithful, know that peace and love with faith, through which we have cheerful confidence of the good things to come.
