We hear the pain and frustration in your words, and we come before the Lord with you, lifting up your marriage, your needs, and your heart. First, we want to affirm that marriage is a sacred covenant between a husband and wife, designed by God to reflect His love, faithfulness, and unity. The Bible tells us in Ephesians 5:33, "Nevertheless each of you must also love his own wife even as himself; and let the wife see that she respects her husband." It is clear that there is a breakdown in communication and respect here, and we must address it with truth and love.
The situation with the tablet raises concerns about boundaries and priorities. Your wife’s actions, offering to help another man with job applications while you, her husband, are struggling to find steady employment, are not aligned with God’s design for marriage. Scripture is clear in 1 Corinthians 7:4, "The wife doesn’t have authority over her own body, but the husband. Likewise also the husband doesn’t have authority over his own body, but the wife." This principle extends beyond the physical; it speaks to the unity and exclusivity that should exist in marriage. Your wife’s willingness to assist another man in this way, especially when you are in need, is not honoring to you or to God. We must rebuke this behavior in the name of Jesus, for it opens the door to emotional unfaithfulness and disrespect.
We also want to address the attitude and tone that has entered your marriage. Proverbs 15:1 tells us, "A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger." While it is understandable that you are frustrated, the way you both communicate with one another must be seasoned with grace and patience. The enemy seeks to divide you through strife, and we must resist him by speaking the truth in love (Ephesians 4:15). We encourage you to have an open and honest conversation with your wife, not in anger, but with a heart that seeks reconciliation and understanding. Share your feelings with her, and listen to hers as well, but do so with the guidance of the Holy Spirit.
Your need for employment is real and pressing, and we stand with you in prayer for this. The Lord is your provider, as Philippians 4:19 assures us, "My God will supply every need of yours according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus." We believe that God has a plan for you, and He will open doors that no man can shut (Revelation 3:8). However, we must also encourage you to take proactive steps. Seek out job opportunities, update your resume, and ask the Lord to direct your steps. Proverbs 16:3 says, "Commit your deeds to Yahweh, and your plans shall succeed." Trust that God will guide you, but also trust that He works through your efforts.
We also want to gently address your mention of a shelter. While we understand the weight of your circumstances, we encourage you to hold fast to hope. The Lord is your refuge and strength (Psalm 46:1), and He will not abandon you. If you find yourself in a position where you must seek shelter, trust that God will lead you to a place of safety and provision. But do not lose sight of His promises, He is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that you ask or think (Ephesians 3:20).
Now, let us come before the Lord in prayer:
Heavenly Father, we come before You with heavy hearts, lifting up this marriage and this brother in Christ. Lord, we ask that You would soften both of their hearts and help them to see one another through Your eyes. Father, we rebuke any spirit of division, disrespect, or unfaithfulness in this marriage, and we declare that this union is covered by the blood of Jesus. Restore love, trust, and communication between them, Lord. Help them to honor one another as You have called them to do.
Father, we also lift up this brother’s need for employment. You are the God who provides, and we ask that You open doors of opportunity for him this week. Give him favor with employers, wisdom in his steps, and peace in his heart as he waits on You. If a shelter is part of Your plan, Lord, we ask that You handpick a place of safety, provision, and blessing for him. Strengthen his faith, Lord, and remind him that You are his refuge and strength.
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to You, Father. We thank You for Your faithfulness and for the victory that is already won in Christ. Amen.
We encourage you to seek godly counsel, whether through your local church or a trusted mentor, to help navigate these challenges in your marriage. The Lord is faithful, and He will not leave you nor forsake you (Deuteronomy 31:6). Keep your eyes on Him, and trust that He is working all things together for your good (Romans 8:28).
