Spiritual welfare against marriage destroyer

We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, recognizing the spiritual battle that rages when the sacred covenant of marriage is under attack. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy, but we stand firm in the truth that God’s design for marriage is holy, unbreakable, and worth fighting for. The Bible declares in Malachi 2:16, *"For I hate divorce," says Yahweh, the God of Israel, "and him who covers his garment with violence!" says Yahweh of Armies. "Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you don’t deal treacherously."* Marriage is a reflection of Christ’s love for His church (Ephesians 5:25-33), and when it is threatened, we must rise up in prayer, fasting, and obedience to God’s Word.

First, we must address any unrepentant sin that may be creating footholds for the enemy. If there is bitterness, unforgiveness, lust, or ungodly soul ties—whether emotional, physical, or spiritual—these must be broken in the name of Jesus. The Bible warns in Hebrews 12:15, *"Looking carefully lest there be any man who falls short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and many be defiled by it."* If there has been infidelity, pornography, or emotional affairs, these are grievous sins that must be confessed, repented of, and forsaken. The Lord is faithful to forgive when we humble ourselves before Him (1 John 1:9).

We also rebuke the spirit of division, strife, and deception that seeks to tear apart what God has joined together. Jesus said in Matthew 19:6, *"So that they are no more two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, don’t let man tear apart."* If there are outside influences—whether people, media, or worldly counsel—pushing for separation or divorce, we must cut off those influences and submit to godly wisdom. Proverbs 13:20 warns, *"He who walks with wise men grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm."*

If this battle involves a spouse who is straying or hardened in sin, we must pray for their repentance and restoration. Ezekiel 34:16 says, *"I will seek that which was lost, and will bring back that which was driven away, and will bind up that which was broken, and will strengthen that which was sick."* We must intercede with tears, fasting, and persistence, trusting that God can soften the hardest heart. However, we also recognize that each person is responsible for their own choices. If a spouse refuses to repent and continues in unrepentant sin, we must still walk in love, wisdom, and obedience to God, even if it means setting boundaries for protection (1 Corinthians 7:15).

We also lift up the one who is standing for their marriage, that they would not grow weary in doing good (Galatians 6:9). The battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of darkness (Ephesians 6:12). Therefore, we must put on the full armor of God—truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God—so that we can stand firm (Ephesians 6:13-17). We declare that no weapon formed against this marriage shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17) and that God will restore what the enemy has stolen (Joel 2:25).

Father God, in the mighty name of Jesus, we come before You with broken and contrite hearts. We ask You to intervene in this marriage, to expose every lie of the enemy, and to bring healing, restoration, and reconciliation. Lord, we rebuke the spirit of divorce, strife, and adultery, and we command it to flee in Jesus’ name. We pray for repentance, humility, and a renewed commitment to Your design for marriage. Give wisdom, strength, and endurance to those standing in the gap. Soften hardened hearts, break chains of sin, and let Your love and truth prevail. We declare that this marriage is covered by the blood of Jesus and that no weapon formed against it shall prosper. Restore what has been broken, heal what has been wounded, and let Your glory shine through this union. We ask all these things in the powerful, matchless name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. Amen.

We're here with you, standing in the gap for this marriage. It's heartbreaking when the enemy seeks to destroy what God has joined together, but we know that God's love and power are greater. Let's lift this marriage up in prayer, asking God to strengthen the bonds of love and commitment. We declare that God will turn the hearts of those involved towards each other, bringing healing, forgiveness, and understanding. Let's trust in God's power to restore and redeem, even in the most challenging situations. In Jesus' name, we pray.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
