Spiritual warfare

Tzuriel Nahem Athryn

Disciple of Prayer
I am facing intense spiritual warfare. Over my family and others. Asking prayer support Lord will quide what and about whom to pray. I know I stand in his stregth and in him I have all I need. In Jesus blood and name I am saved, santified and made child of God. And in his name and blood I hold on whit dear life.

We hear your heart and we stand with you in this battle, for we know this warfare is real and intense, especially when it presses against our family and those we love. We praise God that you are standing in His strength and holding fast to the blood and name of Jesus, for that is exactly where our victory lies. You have declared the truth that in Him you are saved, sanctified, and made a child of God, and we agree with you and cling to that truth together.

Scripture reminds us that our struggle is not merely what we see. Ephesians 6:12 says For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world's rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. Yet we are not left defenseless or without hope. Ephesians 6:10-11 tells us Finally, be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of his might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. And 1 John 4:4 assures us You are of God, little children, and have overcome them, because greater is he who is in you than he who is in the world.

We encourage you to continue to put on that full armor daily with prayer and the Word, to remain watchful and sober, and to resist the enemy by submitting fully to God. James 4:7 says Be subject therefore to God. But resist the devil, and he will flee from you. The weapons we have are not of the flesh but mighty before God. 2 Corinthians 10:4 says for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds. Those weapons are prayer, the Word of God, the blood of the Lamb, worship, obedience, and the fellowship of believers. Revelation 12:11 declares They overcame him because of the Lamb's blood, and because of the word of their testimony.

We also hear your request for the Lord to guide you what and about whom to pray, and we believe He will. James 1:5 says But if any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him. And Romans 8:26 reminds us that the Spirit himself helps us in our weakness and intercedes for us when we do not know how to pray as we ought. Trust the Holy Spirit to bring to your mind those to lift up and the very words to pray.

We pray together now for you and your family.

Father, in the mighty name of Jesus Christ we come before Your throne of grace and we lift up this dear child of Yours and their family to You. We thank You that they are Yours, bought with the precious blood of Jesus, sanctified and seated with Christ. We ask that You cover them and their household under the shadow of Your wings, for Psalm 91:1 says He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty. Put a hedge of protection around them that the enemy cannot cross. We rebuke every assignment of the enemy against this family and against all those You place on their heart, and we command every spirit of oppression, confusion, fear, division and darkness to flee in Jesus name, for at His name every knee must bow. Fill this home with Your peace that passes all understanding, with unity, truth and light. Grant wisdom and discernment to know how to pray, whom to pray for, and when to stand silent and when to speak Your Word with authority. Strengthen them to stand firm, to be steadfast, and to remember that no weapon formed against them shall prosper because You are their shield and defender. Renew their strength daily as they hold fast to Jesus with dear life, and let them see Your deliverance and victory manifested. We ask this in the powerful and saving name of Jesus Christ, our only hope and our sure victory, Amen.

We encourage you to keep holding fast to Jesus, to stay rooted in Scripture, to pray continually, to fast as the Lord leads, and to remain in fellowship with other believers who can stand with you and help bear this burden. Do not be afraid, for the Lord is with you and the battle belongs to Him. We continue to stand with you in prayer, trusting that He who began a good work in you will be faithful to guard and keep you and your loved ones.

We thank you for reaching out and letting us pray with you. We can hear both the weight you are carrying for your family and others, and the firm way you are clinging to Jesus, his blood and his name, as your strength and your place as a child of God. That holding on with dear life is exactly where we are meant to be when the battle feels intense.

It makes sense that you are asking the Lord to show you what to pray and for whom. When so many needs press in, it can feel hard to know where to start. We have found it helps to remember God does not ask you to sort it all out at once. He is the one who sees each person and each need fully, and He gently guides as we stay close to Him in prayer.

One simple practice that may help in the days ahead is to take a few quiet minutes each day, ask the Lord to bring to mind one person or one situation for that day, write that name down, and lift that one to Him in Jesus name. Then rest, trusting Him with the rest. If you can, invite one or two trusted believers to pray with you regularly, so you are not carrying this alone and others can stand with you.

Father, we lift our friend to You and thank You that they are Yours through Jesus. Cover their family and those on their heart with Your protection and peace. Give clear guidance day by day for how to pray, quiet fear, and strengthen their trust as they hold fast to You. Keep them close in Your care. In Jesus name, amen.

There is great comfort in what you have written, for you do not stand upon your own strength but upon His, and you hold fast with dear life to that which alone can hold you, the blood and name of the Lord Jesus Christ. In Him you are saved, sanctified, and made a child of God, and this is no small thing in the hour of warfare. The enemy would have you look to your own frame and feeling, but your hope is well placed when it is placed upon Christ alone.

You speak of intense spiritual warfare over your family and others, and you ask for prayer that the Lord will guide you what and about whom to pray. This is a wise and humble desire. True prayer is not a proud telling of God what He must do, but a pleading with the Most High, spreading our case before Him and pressing our suit with all the arguments His own Word supplies. Imitate Jacob in his humility of spirit. Come not with self conceit which tears the wheels from prayer, but come as a servant reminding his Master of His promise, saying, Remember the Word unto Thy servant. That is the prayer the Holy Spirit Himself has taught us, to remind our heavenly Father of His promises and to ask Him to fulfill them. Get the promise and then offer the prayer, and the prayer will be answered as sure as God is God.

Remember also that the Lord never sent any one of His soldiers to warfare at His own charges. When He sends you to the front, you may cry to Him, Lord, grant me fresh supplies, send on the ammunition, give me grace and guidance, and He will not fail you. Your prayer, Quicken me in Thy way, deals with the believers frequent need, and it is an index of life that you can pray it at all. The quickening Spirit already dwells in you or you could not desire to be quickened. Ask Him then to quicken you in private prayer, in public prayer, in family devotion, in reading the Scriptures and in contemplation of Divine love.

And as to your burden for your family and for others, know that intercessory prayer is the sweetest prayer God ever hears, for the prayer of Christ Himself is of this character, and in all the incense which our Great High Priest now puts into the censer there is not a single grain that is for Himself. When God gives any man much grace, it is with the design that he may use it for the rest of the family. It is an honor to be permitted to pray for the saints, and it is exceedingly prevalent. It has stayed plagues and turned sinners from the error of their ways. Therefore we will not sin against the Lord by ceasing to pray for you and for yours. Though the answer may tarry, mighty prayer will yet prevail if it has but time, so we will persevere in importunity.

We will join you now in pleading. O Lord, remember Thy Word unto Thy servant. Thou hast said that the blood of Jesus cleanses and that those who are in Him are children of God. Fulfill Thy Word in this tried one. Keep this family from the evil, as our Lord prayed, Father, keep them. Quicken Thy servant in Thy way when the warfare is intense and the heart is weary. Give clear guidance what to pray and for whom to pray, and let not prayer be restrained before Thee but let it be inwrought in the very warp and woof of the soul. Let the adversary be driven back, not by our strength, but by the strength of Him in whom we have all we need. In the name and blood of Jesus we ask it, who ever lives to make intercession for us. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your request for prayer has been heard and we join with you before the Lord in this battle. We thank God for your clear confession that you are saved and sanctified and made a child of God through the blood and name of Jesus Christ alone, and that you hold fast to Him with dear life. That is the true ground of our hope and our strength.

Scripture teaches that we are in a real warfare, and it is a good warfare to be fought with faithfulness. This war is not against flesh and blood, but against the devil and incorporeal powers. For that reason the armor is not made of steel but of truth and righteousness and faith and love of wisdom. The Commander in this war is God Himself, who stands by ever ready to help and who remains unconquerable. He has built His Church upon the confession of Christ and fortified it so that no danger can prevail over it, and He has furnished His soldiers with strong arms. What is needed from us is a sober and watchful mind, strong arms, continual vigilance, and readiness to stand in battle array.

Prayer is a great weapon in this warfare. As you go out each day into the market place and the affairs of daily life, which are themselves a fight and a storm with many rocks, you need favorable winds and you need to be armed. If at the morning dawn we make God favorable to us by prayer and supplication, we go forth with security, and even if an enemy should appear we can laugh him to scorn because God is favorable to us. For this reason we need prayer early and by night, learning to walk through each day without shipwreck.

It is good that you have asked for the prayers of others. It is a good thing to enjoy the prayer of the saints, and we gladly offer ours for you. At the same time, remain on the alert yourself, for the help of others profits us most when we ourselves are awake and watchful. Do not think you have no need of prayer, for even the strongest need it continually. Keep holding fast to Christ, keep putting on the armor He provides, and keep praying with perseverance.

We pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we thank You that this dear one is redeemed by the blood of Jesus and called Your child. In the name of Jesus we ask for Your protection over this family and over all those for whom concern is felt. Grant wisdom and guidance to know what to pray and for whom to pray, and lead by Your Holy Spirit into prayers that agree with Your will. Clothe Your servant with truth and righteousness and faith, strengthen the inner person, keep watch over the home, and drive back every work of the enemy. Make Your presence known as the unconquerable Commander who fights for His people, and fill the heart with peace and courage to war a good warfare. Keep this one steadfast in Christ until the victory is fully seen. In the name of Jesus Christ our Lord we ask this, Amen.

Continue to stand in His strength, for in Him you have all you need. Keep His word before you, pray without ceasing, and trust that He who has begun a good work will guard you and your family. We will continue to remember you in prayer.

Your honesty about the battle you are facing is deeply valued and your confidence in Jesus is exactly where it needs to be. You have said it well, that in His strength you have all you need, and that in His blood and name you are saved, sanctified and made a child of God. Holding on to Him with dear life is the right place to stand, because that relationship is the foundation for everything else in prayer.

Scripture shows us that there is a real spiritual warfare going on around us, a conflict between the angelic spirits who serve God and the fallen angels who joined in rebellion with Satan. We cannot imagine the extent of it. When Daniel set his heart to seek the Lord with fasting and prayer, the answer was delayed for twenty one days because the messenger sent from God was opposed by spiritual powers of darkness until Michael came to help. Much of that warfare is unseen to us, yet we often feel the residual effects in unsettled emotions, heaviness, or confusion, and we do not always understand why we feel that way.

For that kind of warfare we need spiritual weapons, because the weapons of our warfare are not carnal. The Word of God, faith, and prayer are the weapons God has provided. Prayer in this sense becomes a spiritual force in a spiritual battle. By prayer you take authority and you bring the victory of Christ into the situation. That is why we are called to remain in the realm of the Spirit and to use what God has given us.

Prayer itself depends on relationship. That is why Jesus taught His disciples to begin with Our Father. If He is your Father through faith in Christ, you have confidence to come to Him. If someone is not yet His child, the one prayer God desires to hear is, God be merciful to me a sinner, which establishes that relationship and opens the way to all other prayer. And the purpose of prayer is not to get our own will done but to see His will done. Prayer moves in a cycle. It begins with God and His purposes and desires which He makes known to our hearts, we then speak those purposes back to Him as prayer, and He accomplishes them. For this reason Jesus taught us to pray, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Prayer also opens the door for God to do what He has long desired to do, without violating the power of choice He has given us.

You asked that the Lord would guide you about what and about whom to pray, and He will do that. Praying with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit is a great help in this. Often prayer is not a long formal speech but a quiet lifting of the heart, a brief cry for guidance, for strength, for help in the moment. The Holy Spirit ministers during prayer, bringing assurance and comfort and bringing to remembrance the people and needs you are to lift up. Trust Him to guide you in that way. And remember that it is not the length of a prayer that makes it valid. The prayers recorded in Scripture are often very short. What matters is that it is effectual and fervent and from the heart, for the effectual fervent prayer of a righteous person avails much, as we see in the example of Elijah. So continue in prayer and watch with thanksgiving, laboring fervently as you bring your family and others before the Lord.

Prayer also works together with responsible action. When Nehemiah faced mockery and threats while rebuilding the wall, he prayed to God and he also set a watch day and night. He did not use prayer as an excuse to do nothing, and we should not either. Pray and also do what is wise and responsible before the Lord in caring for your family and standing guard over what God has entrusted to you.

Be encouraged that God hears and that He is faithful and righteous to answer. You are not alone in this battle, and we are joining with you in prayer, agreeing together that the Lord will give you clear guidance, strengthen and guard your family, and make His victory known in every place where the enemy is opposing you. May He fill you with His peace as you keep holding fast to Jesus.
