Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for an end to spiritual warfare that has targeted me since I was young. Please also pray for an end to vivid, disturbing dreams that I constantly have - which sometimes are related to the warfare and sometimes are not. Please also pray for me because I'm so overwhelmed and every five seconds, there's something else going on in my life between spiritual warfare attacking me and someone always wanting something from me - I just want to be left alone. Please pray for me to have a better schedule and to stop ending my nights so late. Please pray that God would lead me to new jobs - and possibly the ability to have at least two jobs, one primary and an extra one. I am considering staying now at the jobs I currently have. Please pray for wisdom for me about this and that all issues I have with these jobs would get better for me and my coworkers. Please pray for me to be set free from maladaptive daydreaming and inappropriate sexual thoughts which I keep giving in to especially while falling asleep - and which the enemy seems to be directly increasing temptation toward. The sexual thoughts are really becoming a serious problem in my life and I'm so ashamed. God set me free from sexual sin before. I'm so sad to be falling into it again. 💔 I think because I'm struggling with depression right now, I'm using those thoughts as an outlet. Please pray. Pray that the African American community would be set free from false teachings. Pray for my entire family as we all seem to have the flu - pray that no one caring for me in my sickness would be made sicker while trying to care for me. My dad who was the first one to get sick but was getting better now seems to be coughing a lot again. Please pray for three of my cats - two who were scratching themselves too hard and accidentally caused wounds and the other who was making a strange noise with his mouth the other night but seems fine now. Pray that all my cats would be and stay healthy. I have no money for a vet and don't even know of a good one in our area. We love our pets so much. Please pray that I would stay disciplined in eating according to a diet I have to eat on due to a medical condition. Please also pray for a close friend who has fibromyalgia, alpha thalassemia, blood pressure problems, prostate concerns and asthma. Thank you.

We hear your cry for help, and we stand with you in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the only name by which we can be saved and through whom we have access to the Father. You are not alone in this battle, and we join you in fervent prayer, declaring God’s power over every attack of the enemy. The Word of God tells us, "For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places" (Ephesians 6:12 WEB). We take authority over every spirit of oppression, torment, and harassment that has plagued you since childhood, and we command them to flee in Jesus’ name.

We rebuke the vivid and disturbing dreams that have stolen your peace, for the Lord gives His beloved sleep (Psalm 127:2 WEB). We pray that your mind would be guarded by the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, and that you would rest in the assurance that He neither slumbers nor sleeps (Psalm 121:4 WEB). The enemy seeks to wear you down with constant demands and distractions, but we declare that God will give you strength and wisdom to establish boundaries and order in your life. "Come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest" (Matthew 11:28 WEB). We pray for a godly schedule that honors the Lord and allows you to steward your time and energy well. May the Lord open doors for new opportunities, whether in your current jobs or elsewhere, and grant you favor with your coworkers and employers. "Commit your way to the Lord. Trust also in him, and he will do this" (Psalm 37:5 WEB).

We must address the struggle with sexual sin with both truth and compassion. The enemy is indeed using temptation to ensnare you, but we declare that you are not powerless. "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it" (1 Corinthians 10:13 WEB). We rebuke the spirit of lust and shame, and we pray for your deliverance from maladaptive daydreaming and inappropriate thoughts. Confess this sin to the Lord, for "if we confess our sins, he is faithful and righteous to forgive us the sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9 WEB). Do not allow shame to keep you from running to Jesus, for He alone can break these chains. We encourage you to seek accountability with a trusted believer, guard your mind by filling it with Scripture, and flee from temptation as Joseph did (Genesis 39:12 WEB). The Lord has set you free before, and He will do it again.

We lift up the African American community, praying that the eyes of many would be opened to the truth of God’s Word. May false teachings be exposed, and may hearts turn to the gospel of Jesus Christ, which is the power of God for salvation (Romans 1:16 WEB). We also pray for your family’s healing from the flu. "Is anyone among you sick? Let him call for the elders of the assembly, and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord" (James 5:14 WEB). We ask the Lord to restore your father’s health and protect those caring for you from becoming ill. For your beloved cats, we pray for healing and protection. "Are not five sparrows sold for two assaria coins? Not one of them is forgotten by God" (Luke 12:6 WEB). The Lord cares for even the smallest creatures, and we trust Him to watch over them. May He provide a way for their care, whether through wisdom to find a vet or supernatural healing.

We pray for your discipline in following your medical diet, that the Lord would strengthen your will and give you creative ideas to make it sustainable. For your friend battling multiple health issues, we ask for God’s healing touch and comfort. "He heals the broken in heart, and binds up their wounds" (Psalm 147:3 WEB). May the Lord grant him relief and peace.

Let us pray together now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up our brother/sister to You, asking for Your divine intervention in every area of their life. Lord, we break the power of spiritual warfare that has targeted them, and we declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17 WEB). We command every spirit of torment, fear, and oppression to flee, and we ask You to fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding.

Father, we pray for their dreams and their mind. Guard their thoughts, Lord, and let them dwell on whatever is true, honorable, just, pure, lovely, and of good report (Philippians 4:8 WEB). Deliver them from the sexual sin that has ensnared them, and cleanse them from all unrighteousness. We ask for a spirit of self-control and discipline to rise up within them, and for accountability to be established in their life. Lord, set them free from maladaptive daydreaming and inappropriate thoughts, and let their mind be renewed by Your Word.

We ask for Your wisdom and guidance regarding their jobs. Open the right doors, Lord, and close the ones that are not for them. Grant them favor with their coworkers and employers, and let their work be a testimony to Your glory. Provide for their financial needs, and give them the strength to manage their time wisely.

Heal their family from the flu, Lord, and protect those caring for them. Touch their father and restore him to full health. We also pray for their cats, asking for Your healing hand to be upon them. Provide a way for their care, Lord, and let Your peace reign in their home.

Strengthen them to follow their medical diet, and grant healing to their friend battling illness. Pour out Your comfort and grace upon them all.

Lord, we ask that You would draw them closer to You during this time. Let them find their rest and identity in You alone. We declare that the enemy’s plans will not prevail, and that You will turn their mourning into dancing (Psalm 30:11 WEB). May they experience Your presence in a tangible way, and may their life be a testament to Your faithfulness.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your goodness and Your power to bring breakthrough. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

It’s clear you’ve been carrying a crushing load for a very long time, the warfare that started when you were young, the dreams that won’t let you rest, and the relentless feeling that someone always needs something from you. When the body and mind are that worn down, it’s not surprising that the depression you mentioned finds an opening, or that old escapes resurface even when you hate them. You named something true: when we’re hurting, we often reach for whatever dulls the pain, and the enemy knows exactly how to exploit that weariness.

We’d gently encourage two practical things. First, this level of battle and shame is too heavy to carry alone, and secrecy gives the enemy too much room. If you can bring what you’re struggling with to a pastor or a wise, discreet Christian you trust, even just naming it aloud can begin to break the cycle. Second, when those thoughts press in as you’re falling asleep, try deliberately turning your mind somewhere else, not just fighting the thought, but replacing it. Quietly repeat a very short prayer or a line from a hymn until sleep comes. Something like “Jesus, be my rest” or “Create in me a clean heart, O God.” It’s a simple way of handing the moment back to Him instead of letting the enemy run with it. And because you’re so overwhelmed by demands, even guarding a few minutes of true silence each day, where nobody wants anything from you, is not selfish; it’s survival.

Lord Jesus, we bring this heavy pile of burdens to You. You see the warfare that has stalked this one since childhood and the dreams that steal sleep. We ask You to silence the enemy’s voice and cover their nights in Your peace. Break the power of temptation that feeds on exhaustion and depression, and pull them back from the shame cycle that leaves them feeling defeated. We lift up the job situation, please give wisdom about staying or moving, and smooth the tensions at work. Heal their family from the flu, especially their dad, and heal the cats as well. Sustain their friend through the many health struggles he faces. And we pray that You would send a fresh wave of clarity and truth through the African American church, freeing many from teachings that keep them from the real Jesus. Thank You that You never flinch at our mess and that You are stronger than anything that comes at us. Amen.

When sin is put away, God has no cause of warfare against his creature: Christ has put our sins away, and therefore there is a virtual substantial peace established between God and our souls. Yet you taste the bitterness of that warfare renewed, and your dreams and turmoil witness to the conflict. Know this: just where the sin has been Satan marks, and then he sends a suggestion. He strikes at the site of former deliverance, and if we believe this accusation against God, it is not long before we begin to sin. Let the Christian know that his God is with him, and temptation will have little power.

You cry out over the shameful return of those thoughts, the maladaptive wanderings, the undeniable pull as you fall asleep. That is the poisoned arrow shot after a great sin, and even after great deliverance, to make you doubt and despair. Above all, let us beware of that sin which, like a trailing garment, might entangle our feet and trip us up, for if we fall, our opponent will certainly win the prize! Look well to that sin to which you are the most liable. The man who prays “Lead us not into temptation,” and then goes into it, is a liar before God! You must not nurse those thoughts nor welcome them as an outlet. Flee, rather, to prayer in that very moment, for neglect prayer, and you will soon discover that all your spiritual powers wax weak; but be much in supplication, and he that is mighty on his knees, is mighty everywhere.

Jesus Christ has come into the world to save His people from their sins! None know freedom from sin but those who trust the atoning blood. Deliverance from sin is solely by the power of God! “It is not of him that wills, nor of him that runs, but of God that shows mercy.” Sinner, do not doubt your deliverance, for God has said it, “I have found a ransom.” If you know anything of sorrow for sin, you are the very man or woman to understand the joy of sin being put away! And it will be all done for you if you will but look to Jesus, if you will simply trust Him.

When the believer’s ways are enlarged, he delights to run in the statutes of the Lord; obedience is freedom to the Lord’s servant. Do you long for a quiet heart, a well-ordered schedule, and wisdom for your duties? Lay hold of this: He that is mighty on his knees is mighty everywhere. Pray constantly, then, “Lead us not into temptation,” and watch against every suggestion that would draw you back into the snare. For your family, your beloved animals, your friend, and all your burdens, grace knits together again the ties which sin has loosed. Lean your whole weight upon the ransom found in Christ.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

Your tears show you know the danger you are in, but grief alone cannot save you. You say the enemy presses hard against you with vile thoughts and shameful fantasies. This is no surprise, for the Christian life is exactly what the Apostle called a good warfare. There is a bad warfare too, serving a tyrant of uncleanness and iniquity. You have served under both, and now you must choose. You ask for freedom from these sexual imaginations, yet you admit you keep giving in to them, using them as an outlet for your depression. What is this but a man who strips for battle and then complains he feels the blows? You cannot be wrestling and feasting at once. The present state is contest, warfare, tribulation, straits, and trials. The season for rest is not now. If you think of ease, why did you strip and prepare to fight? The evil one increases temptation precisely as sleep approaches because he knows the will is drowsy. That is the hour to stand firm and cry out to your Commander, not to wallow in filth like a man lost to shame who makes his mind a sewer of unclean images. God delivered you from this pit once before, and He will deliver you again, not from the lion's mouth only, but from every evil work. Do not mistake the nature of that deliverance. He does not make the enemy retreat without battle. He stands by, ever ready to help, abiding unconquerable, but He expects you to lift the weapon. Your body is not evil; it may be made an arm of righteousness. But you treat it as an instrument of fornication and then lament the wound. The shame you feel is a mercy if it drives you to repentance, but if you merely loathe yourself while returning to the slime, your sorrow is fruitless.

Your other trials press in from every side: sickness in your household, care for your beloved creatures, the endless demands of others, the weariness of a disordered schedule, the weight of employment decisions. You cry out that you just want to be left alone. This is the voice of a soldier who has forgotten he is on the field. From my own instance you may learn that it is impossible for man, in his warfare with the wicked, not to be exposed to tribulation. One cannot be in combat and live luxuriously. The late nights, the constant pressure, the maladaptive daydreaming by which you flee from reality into an imaginary world, all these are symptoms of a soul that seeks rest before the battle is over. Let us put off imaginings, let us get clear of the dreams of this life present, let us lay aside its deep slumber, and be clad in virtue for garments. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. You ask for a better schedule. Establish one yourself with the discipline of a soldier. Set a time for sleep and keep it, not surrendering your bed to fantasies. Set a time for prayer and keep it, bringing the very temptations that plague you into the light before God. The enemy works in darkness; drag his schemes into the open.

Concerning your employment, you ask for wisdom. Seek it from God who gives liberally, but understand this: you frame the request as if two jobs will solve your trouble, yet you already buckle under the demands of the present ones. Do not multiply burdens until you have learned to bear the first with fortitude. Ask rather for grace to serve as unto Christ in your current station, and for the good of your coworkers. The issues that trouble you there may be the very arena in which God would train you in patience and love. As for your dear father and those cats you cherish so tenderly, lift them to the One who cares for all His creatures. He who delivers from the lion's mouth watches over the sparrow's fall and the cough of an aging man. You have no wealth for a physician for your beasts, but you have access to the throne of grace. That is not a small thing. Your friend also, bound with so many afflictions of the flesh, let him be borne up by prayer. These physical ills are not outside the warfare but part of it, for the enemy would use every ache to wear down hope. But we have not yet resisted unto blood, striving against sin.

Regarding the request for the African American community to be set free from false teachings, this is a holy desire. False doctrine is a snare that comes from the same enemy who assails you in the night. Pray that God would raise up faithful teachers who wield the truth without compromise. But as you intercede for such a great matter, do not neglect the field directly before your feet. The discipline of your diet, the guarding of your eyes and mind, the ordering of your hours, the care of your sick ones, the faithful performance of work, these are the skirmishes by which the larger war is won.

You have not borne a temptation intending slaughter. The afflictions you describe, though they feel overwhelming, are moderate when weighed against the glory to come. You need aid from Him in your warfare that you may pass through them, and until you have passed, bear them. The Commander is standing by. You have put on Christ in baptism and received the Spirit of adoption. Do not live as a slave. The dreams that disturb your rest, whether born of the enemy's malice or the body's disorder, will flee before the name of the Lord when you learn to make that name your constant invocation. Do not grant the tempter an audience in the moments before sleep. Fill the mind with psalms, with the remembrance of death and judgment, with the sweetness of the promises. If you do this, the filthy suggestions will find no welcome, and the vivid terrors will subside. You are sad to be falling again into old sins. That sadness is right, but let it be the godly sorrow that works repentance, not the sullen gloom that prepares for another fall. Shake off this deep slumber now. The day is upon us. Rise and dress yourself in the armor of light.
