Spiritual warfare

Good and Faithful Servant
Please pray for an end to spiritual warfare that has targeted me since I was young. Please also pray for an end to vivid, disturbing dreams that I constantly have - which sometimes are related to the warfare and sometimes are not. Please also pray for me because I'm so overwhelmed and every five seconds, there's something else going on in my life between spiritual warfare attacking me and someone always wanting something from me - I just want to be left alone. Please pray for me to have a better schedule and to stop ending my nights so late. Please pray that God would lead me to new jobs - and possibly the ability to have at least two jobs, one primary and an extra one. I am considering staying now at the jobs I currently have. Please pray for wisdom for me about this and that all issues I have with these jobs would get better for me and my coworkers. Please pray for me to be set free from maladaptive daydreaming and inappropriate sexual thoughts which I keep giving in to especially while falling asleep - and which the enemy seems to be directly increasing temptation toward. The sexual thoughts are really becoming a serious problem in my life and I'm so ashamed. God set me free from sexual sin before. I'm so sad to be falling into it again. 💔 I think because I'm struggling with depression right now, I'm using those thoughts as an outlet. Please pray. Pray that the African American community would be set free from false teachings. Pray for my entire family as we all seem to have the flu - pray that no one caring for me in my sickness would be made sicker while trying to care for me. My dad who was the first one to get sick but was getting better now seems to be coughing a lot again. Please pray for three of my cats - two who were scratching themselves too hard and accidentally caused wounds and the other who was making a strange noise with his mouth the other night but seems fine now. Pray that all my cats would be and stay healthy. I have no money for a vet and don't even know of a good one in our area. We love our pets so much. Please pray that I would stay disciplined in eating according to a diet I have to eat on due to a medical condition. Thank you.

We hear the weight of your struggles, and our hearts ache with yours as we stand together in prayer and faith. The spiritual warfare you’ve endured since childhood is not of God, and we boldly declare that the enemy has no authority over you. The vivid and disturbing dreams, the relentless attacks, and the overwhelming exhaustion are not your portion. The Lord says in 2 Corinthians 10:4-5, "For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds, throwing down imaginations and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God, and bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ." We take every thought captive now, in Jesus’ name, and command every assignment of the enemy against you to cease.

The sexual sin you’re battling is a heavy burden, and we want you to know that shame is not from God. Romans 8:1 reminds us, "There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who don’t walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit." But we must also address this sin directly, for the enemy seeks to ensnare and destroy. 1 Corinthians 6:18-20 warns, "Flee sexual immorality! ‘Every sin that a man does is outside the body,’ but he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body. Or don’t you know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit who is in you, whom you have from God? You are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Therefore glorify God in your body and in your spirit, which are God’s." We rebuke the spirit of lust and temptation over your life and pray for the Holy Spirit to fill you with self-control and purity. You are not alone in this battle, and God’s grace is sufficient to break every chain. Confess this sin, turn from it, and seek accountability with a trusted believer who can walk with you in victory.

The depression you’re facing is real, and we do not dismiss it, but we also know that God is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18). The enemy wants to use this season to isolate you, but we declare that you will not be overcome. The Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). We pray for joy to replace sorrow, for peace to guard your heart and mind (Philippians 4:7), and for the Holy Spirit to comfort you in ways only He can. You mentioned using these thoughts as an outlet, let us encourage you to replace that outlet with godly ones. Fill your mind with Scripture, worship, and prayer. Psalm 119:9 asks, "How can a young man keep his way pure? By living according to your word." Memorize verses that speak to your identity in Christ and His power over sin. Spend time in His presence, for in His presence is fullness of joy (Psalm 16:11).

The overwhelming demands on your time and energy are draining, and we pray for God to grant you wisdom in managing your schedule. Ecclesiastes 3:1 reminds us, "For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven." Seek the Lord’s guidance in prioritizing your time and setting boundaries. Saying "no" is not a sin, it is wisdom. Proverbs 15:23 says, "Joy comes to a man with the reply of his mouth. How good is a word at the right time!" We pray for God to open doors for new job opportunities that align with His will for your life. Whether you stay at your current jobs or move on, we ask for favor with your coworkers and supervisors, and for God to resolve every issue you’re facing at work. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, "Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight."

The flu affecting your family is a heavy burden, especially as you care for one another. We pray for complete healing and restoration for each of you. Isaiah 53:5 reminds us, "But he was pierced for our transgressions. He was crushed for our iniquities. The punishment that brought our peace was on him; and by his wounds we are healed." We declare healing over your father’s cough and over every symptom in your family. We also pray for your cats, our Father cares for even the sparrows, and He certainly cares for the pets you love. Matthew 10:29 says, "Aren’t two sparrows sold for an assarion coin? Not one of them falls to the ground apart from your Father’s will." We ask for healing for the wounds and for God to guide you to a trustworthy vet if needed.

Your medical condition and the discipline required to maintain your diet are not easy, but we pray for strength and consistency. 1 Corinthians 10:13 assures us, "No temptation has taken you except what is common to man. God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted above what you are able, but will with the temptation also make the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it." Lean on the Lord for strength in this area, and ask Him to help you see this discipline as an act of worship to Him.

Lastly, we lift up the African American community and pray for a revelation of God’s truth. False teachings have no place in the body of Christ, and we pray for discernment, wisdom, and a hunger for the pure Word of God. Ephesians 4:14-15 says, "that we may no longer be children, tossed back and forth and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the trickery of men, in craftiness, after the wiles of error; but speaking truth in love, we may grow up in all things into him who is the head, Christ." We pray for pastors and leaders to rise up with boldness and clarity, teaching the unadulterated Gospel.

Now, let us pray together:

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, our Savior and Deliverer. We lift up our dear brother/sister to You, knowing that You see every struggle, every tear, and every battle they are facing. Lord, we ask for Your divine intervention in the spiritual warfare that has plagued them for so long. We break every chain, every assignment, and every stronghold the enemy has set against them. We declare that no weapon formed against them will prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we command every spirit of fear, torment, and oppression to flee in Jesus’ name.

Father, we ask for Your peace to guard their heart and mind. Replace the vivid and disturbing dreams with dreams from You, dreams of hope, purpose, and encouragement. Give them restful sleep, free from the enemy’s attacks. Lord, we pray for a supernatural shift in their schedule. Grant them wisdom to prioritize their time, strength to set boundaries, and the courage to say no when necessary. Open doors for new job opportunities that align with Your will, and bring favor in their current workplaces. Heal every strained relationship and resolve every issue they are facing at work.

We come against the spirit of lust and sexual sin that has been a snare to them. Lord, we ask for Your forgiveness and cleansing. Wash them with the blood of Jesus and set them free from every temptation. Fill them with Your Holy Spirit, granting them self-control and purity. Break the cycle of shame and guilt, and replace it with the assurance of Your love and grace. Help them to flee from temptation and to fill their minds with Your Word. Surround them with godly accountability and encouragement.

Father, we pray for their depression and ask for Your joy to be their strength. Comfort them in their sorrow and lift the heaviness from their heart. Remind them that You are near, and that in Your presence is fullness of joy. Heal their family from the flu and restore each one to full health. Protect those who are caring for them, and prevent any further spread of illness. We also pray for their beloved cats, bring healing to their wounds and keep them healthy. Provide a trustworthy vet if needed, and meet every need according to Your riches in glory.

Lord, we ask for discipline and strength as they adhere to their medical diet. Help them to see this as an act of worship and stewardship over the body You have given them. Grant them the grace to resist temptation and the wisdom to make choices that honor You.

We pray for the African American community, Father. Bring a revival of truth and a hunger for Your Word. Expose and dismantle every false teaching, and raise up leaders who will boldly proclaim the Gospel. Unite Your people in love and purpose, and let Your light shine brightly in every community.

Finally, Lord, we ask for Your presence to be tangible in their life. Remind them that they are never alone, and that You are fighting for them. Strengthen their faith, deepen their trust in You, and fill them with hope for the future. We declare that this season of struggle will not define them, but rather, it will refine them and draw them closer to You.

We thank You, Father, for hearing our prayer. We trust in Your faithfulness and Your power to bring breakthrough. May Your will be done in every area of their life, and may Your name be glorified. In Jesus’ mighty name we pray, Amen.

That is such a heavy load to carry, and we can hear the exhaustion in your words. When the attacks have been coming since childhood and the dreams never let up, it’s no wonder you feel overwhelmed, and when depression sets in, old patterns of coping can feel automatic, even shameful. But falling back into a struggle doesn’t erase the freedom God gave you before; it just means you need fresh strength and support right now.

We want to encourage you not to face this alone. Is there a mature Christian you trust, a pastor, a prayer partner, or a counselor, you could speak to honestly about the depression and the sexual thoughts? Bringing those into the light with someone who will pray with you and walk alongside you can break the isolation the enemy exploits. And if you haven’t already, it would be wise to see a doctor about the depression, not as a substitute for prayer but alongside it. Our bodies and minds are connected, and sometimes help comes through both spiritual and medical means.

It’s not unusual for our minds to wander toward old comforts as we’re drifting off to sleep. That doesn’t make you a failure, it makes you human and tired. In those moments, a simple prayer like “Jesus, I belong to you; guard my heart and mind” can quietly turn your attention back to him. The enemy may increase temptation when you’re weakest, but Christ’s power doesn’t depend on our perfect resistance. We can rest in that.

Let’s pray: Lord Jesus, we lift this dear friend to you. Surround them with your peace. Silence the voices of the enemy and give them restful sleep, free from tormenting dreams. Break the power of every wrong thought and renew their mind. Heal the depression and give wisdom about work, schedule, and health. Touch their family and beloved cats with your healing. Help them stay disciplined in eating. We trust your mercy to sustain them, moment by moment. Amen.

May God in Jesus' name answer your prayer request according to God's perfect love, wisdom, will, timing, grace, and mercy. God is so in love with you. Be Encouraged!

Psalm 37:4: Delight yourself in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart.
Matthew 6:33: But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.

Heal Me Lord Jesus Spirit, Soul, And Body

You cry out from the midst of a great battle, and I hear the anguish of a soul long beset by the adversary. From youth the arrows have flown, and now in weariness you seek a reprieve. But know this: the Lord’s deliverances are not for those who have never known the sting of warfare, but for those who have tasted its bitterness. He has not given you over unto death, though sorely chastened; your present trouble is not the wrath of a judge, but the rod of a Father who would cure your sin by making you feel its sorrow. This very shame over wandering thoughts and unclean imaginations is a proof the Spirit has not utterly withdrawn. When conscience smites you as David’s heart smote him, fall upon your knees at once. Confess the fault; hide nothing. Have you not found Him ready to restore? Has He not lifted up the light of His countenance upon you before? He will do it again, for He has found a ransom, the precious blood of Christ, who bore both sin and its punishment, though He knew no stain. There is no deliverance from guilt or from the power of sin apart from that sacrifice. Look to Him anew upon the cross, and as you look, you will hate the sin that pierced Him. The serpent’s brood must be crushed in the nest; tenderness toward these thoughts is your undoing. They seem but spider’s webs at first, yet they thicken into iron bands. But if you are Christ’s, you are dead to the condemning power of sin, and by His grace you may be dead to its charm. Another passion must suck up your life, a love for the Redeemer who washes you thoroughly from iniquity. When the temptation surges as you lie down, cry out for supernatural aid; none but the Holy Spirit can quench these fiery darts. And do not parley with the sin by allowing your mind to feed upon it, even under the guise of dreariness or depression. Maladaptive daydreaming and lust are no harmless outlets; they are thieves of peace and open doors to the enemy. Make no provision for the flesh, but rise and speak to the Lord, or recite His promises aloud until the cloud breaks.

As for the weariness of spirit and the unrelenting demands of others, I counsel you not to faint. Even our blessed Master sought solitary places, yet He always returned to labor. Your schedule must bow to wisdom; to end your nights so late is to give advantage to the adversary, for he works in weariness. Commit your daily path to God and learn to say no to men that you may say yes to your own soul’s health. In the matter of your employ, pray for a clear mind, and then act with prudence. If you can remain where God has placed you, do so with contentment; if He opens another door, step through it in faith. He who feeds the sparrows will not let you lack. For your dear family, your feline companions, and your own frame, cast all these cares upon Him, for He careth for you. The sickness in your household and the wounds of your beasts are small things to His omnipotence; entreat Him who healeth all diseases and who marks even a sparrow’s fall. The discipline of diet for your body’s affliction is a small cross; bear it as unto the Lord, remembering that the body is for Him and He for the body.

Finally, you plead for your people after the flesh, that they be loosed from false teaching. Pray on; the arrows of the Lord’s deliverance are shot by human instrumentality, and your intercessions join the battle. But let your own soul first be anchored in truth, that you may be a witness. And when He shall have lifted you up and given you songs in the night, then declare His works. Say, “I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.” The memory of this present bitterness shall be swallowed up in praise, and you will sing with the saints of old, recounting the righteous vengeance of Calvary that became your peace. Go now to the throne of grace; stay not away because of shame, for the Son has opened a new and living way. Plead the ransom, and then rise to sin no more, for another has taken your condemnation, and His Spirit will arm you against the foe.

You describe a soul besieged as if by an army in the night, and you cry out for peace. Yet the peace you seek will not be found by fleeing the battle, but by waking from the dream. For what are these vivid terrors and unclean thoughts but the shadows of a mind still too fond of the phantoms of this passing life? You say the enemy increases the temptation as you fall asleep, and you give in. That is exactly the hour when the soul ought to be most armored. Instead of letting the imagination run wild, fill it with prayer, with the Psalms, with the remembrance of death and judgment. When the body lies down, let the tongue recite, "Lord Jesus Christ, have mercy on me." Fight fire with fire, the evil thoughts with holy ones, until the drowsy thief finds no entrance.

You speak of maladaptive daydreaming and sexual sin as an outlet for depression. Listen: this is not a release but a self-chosen madness. What comfort does it bring? An illusion that vanishes as quickly as it came, leaving behind only shame and a heavier chain. Those who indulge the palate make their belly a god, but you make your mind a sewer, letting thoughts run through it that corrupt everything holy. Do you not see that these pleasures, like all the rewards of this world, are nothing but a night-time dream? A man may dream he is a consul, but the dawn proves it empty. So too, the gratification of a moment becomes the torment of the waking hour. Cast it off. When the temptation stirs, rise up and pray, or even physically turn to a different posture. The body must be disciplined; let your diet for medical reasons become a training in temperance for your soul as well.

As for the overwhelming crush of duties, jobs, and the constant demands of others, do not be surprised. The saints of whom the world was not worthy wandered in sheepskins and goatskins, destitute and afflicted. Not in payment for sins, but as a mark of God's chosen ones. Your present turmoil is not a sign of abandonment but the very arena where the crown is woven. Entrust your schedule, your job decisions, your sick family and even the poor cats to the care of Him who numbers every hair. He who gave His Son for you will He not also provide for these lesser things? But you must also do your part: stop ending your nights late. The body is a servant, not a tyrant; if you let it rob sleep, it will rebel in darkness of spirit. Set a rule and keep it.

For the struggle against false teaching in any community, remember that error is dissolved only by the true light. Where Christ is preached as the very brightness of the Father, there darkness cannot remain. Pray indeed, but let your own life shine first. A clear conscience is the mightiest refutation of heresy.

You ask for prayer, and a whole church will intercede. But the most effectual prayer begins in your own heart, with fasting and tears. Now, while it is still night, shake off the deep slumber. The swallow of grace is twittering; the Day is at hand. Leave the dreams of sin and anxiety, clothe yourself in vigilance as a garment, and step into the works of the day which never ends.

The weight you are carrying right now is heavy, and I want you to know that what you are describing, the warfare, the shame, the exhaustion, is not something you face alone. Your honesty about the sexual thoughts and the depression beneath them is not a mark of failure but an opening for genuine help. The enemy would like nothing more than to isolate you in guilt and convince you that no real change is possible. But the truth is far stronger than that lie.

Temptation itself is not sin. Even Jesus was tempted by the devil, yet He never gave in. The distress you feel when those images or scenarios flood your mind at night, the enemy pushing for a quick, fleshly escape, that is the moment of testing. The battle is decided not by the presence of the thought, but by what you do with it. When you entertain it, when you let the desire conceive, it gives birth to sin. And sin, when it is full-grown, brings a kind of death into your life, spiritual numbness, deeper shame, a sense of being cut off. You know that cycle. You have tasted freedom before, and that memory of being set free makes the return of this struggle all the more painful.

But here is what must be anchored in your heart: you are not doomed to be ruled by this. The promise stands that sin will not have dominion over you, because you are not under law but under grace. That does not mean you have permission to sin just because grace overflows. It means you have the power to refuse. In Christ, your old self was crucified with Him. That is a fact you have to reckon with, to account yourself dead to sin and alive to God. The flesh still has its desires, and the temptation will still knock, but you do not have to answer. You can say, “I am crucified with Christ; I am no longer a slave to that. I yield myself to God as someone brought from death to life.”

The shame you feel is real, but do not let it drive you into hiding. He who tries to cover his sin will not prosper, but whoever confesses and forsakes it finds mercy. Jesus already bore that sin on the cross. He took the full judgment for it so that you could walk in cleansing. When you confess it, right there in the darkness or wherever you are, His blood puts away the sin itself, not just covers it. The enemy wants you to wallow in failure; the Spirit invites you to get back up in the righteousness of Christ.

You mentioned that depression is using these thoughts as an outlet. That connection is significant. When life feels overwhelming, the flesh reaches for immediate comfort, even if it is destructive. But temporary relief through sin only deepens the emptiness. Bring that weariness to the Lord. Ask Him to lead your schedule, to grant you moments of true rest, and to fill the ache with Himself rather than counterfeit comforts. The late nights, the job pressures, the constant demands from others, all of that feeds a soul-exhaustion that makes it harder to fight. Wisdom about your jobs, provision for your needs, and even the small disciplines like your diet are not separate from your spiritual battle. They are part of learning to walk in the Spirit and not in the flesh.

Likewise, the spiritual warfare you have known since childhood, the vivid and disturbing dreams, the maladaptive daydreaming, these are not random. Scripture tells us that sin crouches at the door, desiring to have us, just as Satan desired to sift Peter. But Jesus prayed for Peter that his faith would not fail, and He intercedes for you now. He wants to rule over your life in a way that sets you free from every other master. You are not just fighting for better behavior; you are standing in a victory already won. Where sin abounded, grace did much more abound, not to let sin stay, but to dethrone it.

I will be praying in earnest for you: for the enemy’s assault to be silenced, for your nights to become places of peace rather than torment, for wisdom about your work, for your family’s health and your cats’ well-being, and for a steady discipline in caring for your body. Praying also for your community to be set free from deceptive teachings that lead away from the simplicity of the gospel. But most of all, praying you will know in your bones that you are not a helpless victim. Yield your body to God. Offer your members as instruments of righteousness. And when you stumble, remember that you have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. Let all bondage go, and let deliverance flow.
