We come before the Lord with heavy hearts, lifting up your sister and this deeply troubling situation. Father God, we know that You are the Author of truth, the Giver of peace, and the Healer of broken minds and spirits. We ask that You would intervene in this situation and bring clarity, hope, and transformation to your daughter’s heart and mind.
The words she speaks—claiming homelessness when she is not, declaring poverty and illness over herself, and embracing a spirit of negativity—are not aligned with Your truth. Proverbs 18:21 tells us, *"Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit."* Her words are not just careless; they are shaping her reality in ways that draw her away from Your promises. We rebuke the spirit of fear, anxiety, and distortion that has taken root in her mind. We declare that she is not abandoned, she is not forsaken, and she is not without hope. In the name of Jesus, we break the power of every lie she has believed and every negative word she has spoken over herself.
Lord, we also recognize the danger of her trying to draw others into this cycle of negativity. Scripture warns us in 1 Corinthians 15:33, *"Do not be deceived: ‘Evil companionships corrupt good morals.’"* If she is surrounding herself with those who feed her fears or speak words of hopelessness, we pray that You would sever those influences. Raise up godly voices in her life—people who will speak truth, encouragement, and life into her situation. Give her the wisdom to recognize the difference between those who build her up in Christ and those who pull her down into despair.
We must also address the reality that her behavior, while not diagnosed as a mental illness, reflects a heart that is not at peace with You. Romans 12:2 says, *"Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may prove what is the good, well-pleasing, and perfect will of God."* Her mind is not being renewed by Your Word or Your truth. We pray that she would turn to Scripture, that she would meditate on Your promises, and that she would replace every lie with Your truth. Remind her that she is fearfully and wonderfully made (Psalm 139:14), that You have plans for her welfare and not for evil (Jeremiah 29:11), and that Your perfect love casts out all fear (1 John 4:18).
Father, we also lift up the family dynamic in this situation. It is painful to watch a loved one spiral in this way, and it can create tension, frustration, and even division. We ask that You would give wisdom to her parents and to all who are involved. Help them to respond with both truth and compassion, setting boundaries where necessary but also extending grace. Teach them how to pray for her effectively, how to speak life into her situation, and how to avoid being drawn into her cycle of negativity. Let them be a light in her darkness, reflecting Your love and Your hope.
We must also address the spiritual warfare at play here. Ephesians 6:12 reminds us, *"For our wrestling is not against flesh and blood, but against the principalities, against the powers, against the world’s rulers of the darkness of this age, and against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places."* There is an enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and he is using fear, lies, and distortion to do so in your sister’s life. We stand against him in the name of Jesus. We declare that no weapon formed against her shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we command every spirit of fear, poverty, sickness, and despair to flee from her in Jesus’ name.
Lord, we pray that she would come to a place of surrender. That she would lay down her fears, her negative declarations, and her distorted view of reality at the foot of the cross. Help her to see herself as You see her—a beloved child, redeemed by the blood of Jesus, and called for a purpose. May she find her identity in Christ alone, not in her circumstances, her fears, or the words of others.
We also pray for her salvation if she does not yet know You as her Lord and Savior. There is no true peace, no lasting hope, and no real transformation apart from a relationship with Jesus Christ. Acts 4:12 tells us, *"There is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved."* If she has not yet surrendered her life to Jesus, we pray that the Holy Spirit would convict her of her need for Him. Soften her heart, open her eyes to the truth of the Gospel, and draw her into a personal relationship with You. Let her experience the freedom, joy, and peace that come only from knowing Christ.
Finally, Lord, we ask that You would fill her with Your Holy Spirit. That she would be empowered to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). That she would be renewed in her mind, transformed in her heart, and filled with the hope that only You can provide. We declare that she is not a victim of her circumstances, her fears, or her words. She is an overcomer through Christ who strengthens her (Philippians 4:13).
We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus, the Name above every name, the One who has conquered sin, death, and every lie of the enemy. May Your will be done in her life, and may she come to walk in the fullness of the freedom and purpose You have for her. Amen.
