Help me to apologise to my daughter inlaw I lost my temper after I was told to move three times around a soccer game that my granddaughter didnt want family to watch yet there were other players families watching. In Jesus precious name I pray.Amen

We join you in bringing this before the Lord and we appreciate your humble heart in wanting to make things right with your daughter in law. It takes humility to admit when we have lost our temper and to seek to apologize, and God honors that humility.

We understand how frustrating it must have felt to be told to move three times during your granddaughter's soccer game, especially when other families were watching and you simply wanted to support your granddaughter. Yet even when we feel slighted or embarrassed, Scripture calls us to be slow to anger and to respond with gentleness. James 1:19-20 says So, then, my beloved brothers, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, and slow to anger, for the anger of man doesn’t produce the righteousness of God. And Ephesians 4:31-32 reminds us Let all bitterness, wrath, anger, outcry, and slander, be put away from you, with all malice. And be kind to one another, tender hearted, forgiving each other, just as God also in Christ forgave you.

Losing our temper, even when provoked, can wound those we love and stir up further hurt. Proverbs 15:1 teaches A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger. We encourage you to go to your daughter in law privately and humbly, without making excuses or shifting blame, simply owning that you lost your temper and asking for her forgiveness. A sincere apology that takes full responsibility opens the door for healing. It would also be good to honor her and your granddaughter by respecting the boundaries they set, even if you do not fully understand them, trusting that they had reasons for asking family not to watch at that time.

We also lift up your granddaughter and the whole family, that peace would be restored and that your desire to support and love them would be clearly seen through a spirit of grace and self control.

We pray together for you now. Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus, thanking You for this dear one's repentant heart. We ask You to forgive where anger took hold, and to wash away any hurt caused by harsh words or actions. Fill our dear sister or brother with Your peace and with a spirit of humility and gentleness. Give wisdom and the right words to offer a sincere apology to their daughter in law, words that bring healing and not further strife. Soften the heart of the daughter in law to receive the apology with grace, and help both to forgive as You have forgiven us, as Colossians 3:12-13 says Put on therefore, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, a heart of compassion, kindness, lowliness, humility, and perseverance bearing with one another, and forgiving each other, if any man has a complaint against any even as Christ forgave you, so you also do. Restore unity in this family, help them to be peacemakers, for Matthew 5:9 says Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God. Let this situation become a testimony of Your grace and love at work. We ask all this in Jesus’ name, Amen.

We appreciate your honesty in wanting to make this right with your daughter-in-law. Being asked to move three times is frustrating, especially when other families were allowed to stay and you were trying to honor your granddaughter's wishes at the same time. It makes sense that feelings built up, and we hear your regret that it came out as anger toward her.

Wanting to apologize quickly is a good and humble instinct. When you reach out, it often helps to keep it brief, private, and focused on your part. A simple, direct apology in person or by phone when you are both calm can mean a lot, naming what happened without adding reasons that sound like excuses, saying you are sorry for losing your temper, and asking for her forgiveness. Then give her space to respond and really listen to how it affected her, even if she needs time.

We know you care deeply about your family and about keeping peace for your granddaughter. An apology doesn't guarantee everything feels better right away, but it is the right step toward healing and shows love in action.

Father, we lift this family to You and ask for Your peace over these relationships. We pray You would give humility and calm words for this apology, and soft hearts to hear one another. Guide this grandmother and her daughter-in-law toward understanding and gentle restoration in the days ahead. In Jesus' precious name, Amen.

Your desire to seek peace and to make a humble apology is itself a gracious work of the Spirit in your heart, and it is pleasing to the Lord who loves reconciliation.

There is forgiveness with God, that He may be feared. Psalm 130:4. How significant is that word, but, for though sin and temper and hasty words bring us into the depths, there is forgiveness with Him. It is not a stinted forgiveness, nor forgiveness up to a certain point, but according to the riches of His grace through the blood of Christ. He has no buts in His forgiveness. When we make a clean breast in confession, He gives a clean breast by absolution, for Jesus Christ has borne our punishment and honored the law in our stead.

You have felt the sting of being moved three times around the ground, and the added sorrow that your granddaughter did not wish family to watch while other families looked on. Such things can try the spirit, and in a moment of provocation the temper may rise. Yet the Lord shows us a more excellent way. Even as Christ forgave you, so also do you. Colossians 3:13. Admire the way in which Christ forgives, how loving He was when you sought His mercy, and then copy that pattern for yourself. Forgiveness is not a degrading thing. Revenge is paltry, but forgiveness is great minded and gloriously ennobling.

Go then, and that without delay, to your daughter in law. Speak plainly and meekly, without excuse, owning that you lost your temper and grieved her. Say from the heart, I was wrong to speak and act in anger, will you forgive me. It is a joint stock business of mutual forgiveness among Christians, and you will find that a soft answer and a humble confession will often open the heart that has been wounded.

May the dove like Spirit brood over you both and create love in your bosoms. Seek not only to be forgiven but to forgive freely any hurt you have felt in return, that peace may be restored in the family and that your granddaughter may see in her elders the grace of Christ.

We will pray for you. O Lord our God, with whom there is forgiveness, look upon this wounded relationship. Grant to this dear one a meek and lowly spirit, give words seasoned with grace, and give to the daughter in law a ready heart to forgive even as Christ has forgiven us. Let this trial be overruled for good, for the knitting together of this family in love, and for the glory of Thy name. Restore fellowship and let peace reign in that home, through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
