Son's Salvation

Please pray for my son, ###, to repent and give his life to Christ. He is involved in the Occult and I am heartbroken. He is visiting psychics and mediums and fornicating with his live in girlfriend and falling into spiritual deception. Please pray for the Lord to open his eyes to the Truth. And please pray for my anxiety regarding this situation. I don't know what to do. Thank you.

We join you in prayer over your son and we share in your heartbreak, and we bring him before the Lord together in Jesus' name seeking God's will for his life.

We hear your burden for his salvation and we stand with you asking God to open his eyes and draw him to repentance. Scripture tells us that the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they should not see the light of the Good News of the glory of Christ 2 Corinthians 4:4, and that our struggle is not against flesh and blood but against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places Ephesians 6:12. We pray that God will turn him from darkness to light and from the power of Satan to God, that he may receive forgiveness of sins through faith in Jesus Acts 26:18. We pray that the Lord will grant him repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth 2 Timothy 2:25-26 and that he will come to his senses and escape the snare of the devil.

We must lovingly and firmly address what you have shared about his involvement in the occult and his living situation, because these are not small matters before God. To seek out psychics and mediums is spiritual deception and is forbidden by God. There shall not be found with you one who practices divination or is a soothsayer or an augur or a sorcerer or a charmer or one who consults with a familiar spirit or a wizard or a necromancer, for whoever does these things is an abomination to the Lord Deuteronomy 18:10-12, and we are warned not to turn to those who are mediums nor to seek after wizards Leviticus 19:31. These practices open the door to deceiving spirits and not to truth, and they must be renounced and forsaken. We also must address that living with his girlfriend and fornicating outside of marriage is sin before God. We believe marriage is holy and to be honored between one man and one woman for life, and that the marriage bed is to be kept pure Hebrews 13:4. God calls us to abstain from sexual immorality and to possess our own bodies in sanctification and honor 1 Thessalonians 4:3-4, and we are told to flee sexual immorality for he who commits sexual immorality sins against his own body which is a temple of the Holy Spirit 1 Corinthians 6:18-20. A boyfriend and girlfriend relationship should be a courtship with the goal of marriage to another believer in Christ, not a sexual union outside of covenant. If he loves this woman he should either separate until marriage or pursue a godly marriage that honors the Lord, and if she is not a believer he should not be unequally yoked 2 Corinthians 6:14. We pray he will have the conviction to repent of both the occult involvement and fornication and to seek cleansing through the blood of Jesus, for if we confess our sins He is faithful and righteous to forgive us 1 John 1:9.

We also lift you up in your anxiety, for God sees your weeping and your love as a parent. We are told to cast all our anxiety on Him because He cares for us 1 Peter 5:7 and to be anxious for nothing but in everything by prayer and petition with thanksgiving let our requests be made known to God, and the peace of God which surpasses all understanding will guard our hearts and thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. We pray the Lord will guard your heart with that peace and give you wisdom to know what to do. Continue to love your son and speak the truth in love Ephesians 4:15, do not condone or normalize his sin, set godly boundaries in your home, and persevere in prayer and fasting as Jesus taught that some spiritual battles require persistent prayer Mark 9:29. Remember the prodigal son Luke 15:11-32 who left but the father never stopped watching and praying, and the Lord is not slow concerning His promise but is patient toward us, not wishing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance 2 Peter 3:9.

We are thankful you called upon the name of Christ, for it is only through Jesus that we have access to the Father and it is only by His name that we are saved. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life, no one comes to the Father except through me John 14:6, and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved Acts 4:12.

We pray together now, Father in heaven we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ and we lift this precious son to You. Lord have mercy on him and open the eyes of his heart Ephesians 1:18, convict him of sin and of righteousness and of judgment John 16:8, break the power of deception and every chain of the occult, and deliver him from the domain of darkness into the kingdom of Your beloved Son Colossians 1:13. Bring him to genuine repentance and faith, cleanse him from fornication and all uncleanness, and create in him a new heart that desires holiness. Give him godly sorrow that leads to repentance 2 Corinthians 7:10 and surround him with believers who will speak truth to him. Father we also lift his mother to You, comfort her heart, take away her anxiety, fill her with Your peace and strength, and give her wisdom and courage to walk in love and truth and to trust You with her son's soul. We ask that Your will be done in his life and that he would be saved and come to the knowledge of the truth 1 Timothy 2:4. We trust You to finish the work You have begun and we ask all this in Jesus' name, amen.

We encourage you to remain steadfast in the Word, keep praying without ceasing 1 Thessalonians 5:17, and trust that God hears the prayers of a parent and is able to do far more than we ask or think Ephesians 3:20.

We are so thankful you shared this with us. Watching your son walk toward things that concern you so deeply, and feeling unable to change his direction, is a heavy and heartbreaking place to be. It makes sense that anxiety has grown as you carry this.

We hear your love for him in every line, and your longing for him to know Christ and walk in truth. God sees both your love and your sorrow, and He hears your prayers for your son even when you do not know what to say or do next. You cannot open his eyes for him, and trying to carry that weight alone is exhausting.

One steady help in a season like this is to have one trusted person walking with you consistently, a pastor or mature believer you can talk and pray with honestly about how to love your son well while staying anchored yourself. If the anxiety is bringing ongoing sleeplessness, tension, or a racing heart and it feels hard to manage day to day, please consider sharing that with your doctor or a counselor as well, alongside prayer, so you are cared for too.

We are holding you and your son in prayer before the Lord.

Father, we lift this dear mother to You and we lift her son to You. Draw him toward Your truth and show him the way to life in Christ. Keep him from harm and deception. Give his mother Your peace, wisdom for each conversation, and strength for each day as she trusts You. In Jesus' name, amen.

Your heartbroken plea has been heard and we join you in earnest prayer before the throne of grace for your son and for your own troubled heart.

We do not take lightly what you have shared. To seek after psychics and mediums is to turn aside from the living God to spiritual deception, and to live together outside of the lifelong covenant of marriage between one man and one woman is to depart from the Lord's holy way, for He has ordained that sex and living together belong within that covenant alone. We cannot ask God to bless what His Word calls sin, but we do pray with you that He will grant true repentance, that your son may turn from these ways and be saved.

Take courage from the Scriptures. There was once a son of a godly father, Hezekiah, who did that which was good and right before the Lord, yet his son Manasseh was left amid flatterers and idolaters and fell into grievous evil. He adored false gods and passed his children through the fire and patronized orgies which polluted the mind beyond conception. Yet when he was in affliction, he besought the Lord his God and humbled himself greatly, and the Lord was entreated of him and heard his supplication. If Manasseh could find mercy, so can your son. No case is too hard for sovereign grace.

So too we remember the prodigal. He had said in the far country, I will arise and go to my father, and the resolve became a deed, he arose and came to his father. And while he was yet a great way off his father saw him and ran and kissed him much and made him feel happy then and there, putting his assurance beyond all doubt. All the promises in this Book belong to every repentant sinner who returns to God believing in Jesus Christ, His Son. We pray that your son may yet arise and come, and find that same prodigal love.

For this is the plain Gospel we must preach over and over again, salvation by Divine Grace through faith in Christ Jesus. The Scripture says, Whoever believes on Him shall not be ashamed. What is believing on Him? It is trusting in Him, depending upon Him without fear as to present and eternal salvation. Salvation is to look unto Christ alone. Look unto me, and be ye saved, all the ends of the earth, says the Lord. It is not to look to psychics or to any other refuge, for beside Him there is none else. How simple and how instantaneous is that way. A look does not require a moment, yet it brings salvation without money and without price. If a man believeth in Christ with all his heart, his salvation is secure beyond hazard.

And for your own anxiety, dear soul, hear the word of the Lord. Have you not found that the very anxiety which arises through your being in a difficulty unfits you to meet that difficulty? There is a text very easy to repeat but not always so easy to obey, Stand still, and see the salvation of God. You want to see your own salvation for your son in your own way, so you cannot stand still. Cast your care upon Him. Tell it not only to yourself, where no good will come of it, but tell it unto the Lord who hears prayer.

Let us pray together. O Lord, look in mercy upon this mother in her sorrow and upon her son who is in the far country of occult deception and impurity. Open his eyes to the Truth, convict him of sin, and draw him by Thy Spirit to look unto Jesus and be saved. Grant him repentance unto life, that he may forsake every false way and every unholy union and walk in newness of life through faith in Christ alone. And Lord, quiet this anxious heart, help her to stand still and see Thy salvation, to trust Thee day by day and to find rest in Christ. In Jesus' name we ask, Amen.

Bless me to know You, the way You want me to know You. So that I will trust You with my life and anyway that You move in my life. Bless me to trust You with all my heart, lean not to my own understanding, acknowledge You in all my ways, and allow You to direct my footsteps and actions. Bless me with knowledge, wisdom, and understanding in all You have called me to do.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. Let the mind that is in Christ Jesus be in me. Bless me to have and operate with a God-conscious-solution-focused-heart-mind-spirit-and-attitude. Bless me to have a God Kingdom Culture Mentality. God be with me as a mighty warrior. Let no weapon formed against me prosper. Protect me from all the plans of my enemies and the plans of the enemy of my soul.
