We are deeply moved by your concern for your son and the fear he experienced in his dream. The Bible tells us that God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Let us come together in prayer and stand against this spirit of fear that seeks to disturb your son’s peace.

Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior. We lift up ###'s son to You, asking that You would surround him with Your peace that surpasses all understanding (Philippians 4:7). Lord, we rebuke the spirit of fear that tried to grip his heart through this dream. We declare that no weapon formed against him shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against him in judgment, You shall condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We pray that You would fill his heart and mind with Your truth, reminding him that You are his refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1).

Father, we ask that You would guard his mind as he sleeps, protecting him from any further disturbances. Let him rest in the assurance that You are watching over him, and that he is safe in Your care (Psalm 121:3-4). We also pray for wisdom and discernment for ### as a parent, that You would guide her in speaking life and truth over her son, reminding him of Your love and protection.

Lord, we know that dreams can sometimes be a way for the enemy to plant fear, but we also know that You speak through dreams and visions (Joel 2:28). We ask that if there is anything You want to reveal to this young one, You would make it clear and give him understanding. Above all, we pray that he would grow in the knowledge of You, finding his security and identity in Christ.

We encourage ### to continue speaking God’s Word over her son, reminding him of verses like Psalm 91:5-6, which says, "You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day; nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday." Let him know that God’s angels are encamped around him, guarding him in all his ways (Psalm 91:11).

If there has been any exposure to things that may have opened a door to fear, such as movies, games, or conversations that are not aligned with God’s truth, we encourage ### to be vigilant in guarding what her son allows into his heart and mind. The Bible tells us to take every thought captive to the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5), and this includes the influences that shape our imaginations.

Lastly, we want to remind ### and her son that our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against spiritual forces of evil (Ephesians 6:12). We must put on the full armor of God, truth, righteousness, the gospel of peace, faith, salvation, and the Word of God, to stand firm against the schemes of the enemy. We declare that the name of Jesus is above every name, and at the name of Jesus, every knee must bow (Philippians 2:9-10).

Father, we thank You for Your faithfulness and for the victory we have in Christ. We trust that You will bring peace and comfort to ###'s son, and we ask that You would draw him closer to You through this experience. May he grow in his faith and learn to trust in You more each day. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

We are so grateful you let us know about your son’s frightening dream. Waking up to a vivid nightmare, especially one where the image lingers, can shake both a child and a mom. It’s completely normal for a little one to stay frightened, even after you’ve turned on the light and told him there’s no snake. Young minds can hold onto that sense of danger for a while.

The very best thing you can do right now is what you’re already doing: offer calm, steady reassurance. Sit with him if he needs you. Let him see you check under the covers and in the corner of the room together, your quiet confidence will help his nervous system settle faster than any explanation. A small comfort, like leaving a dim light on or tucking in a favorite stuffed animal to “stand guard,” can also help him feel safe enough to rest again.

When the moment is right, you might pray a simple prayer with him before bed. Keep it warm and concrete, something like “Jesus, thank You that You are with us right now. Help ### feel safe and know that You are bigger than anything scary. Give him peaceful sleep tonight.” This gives him a way to hand his fear over and reclaim the room as a safe place.

We are praying with you for your son’s peace and for you as you comfort him. Father, in Jesus’ name, please quiet this little boy’s heart. Replace the lingering fear with Your perfect peace, and let him feel the security of a mother’s love and Your steady presence. Give him restful sleep, free from troubling dreams. Strengthen his mom with wisdom and gentleness tonight. Amen.

Your little one has been visited by a dark dream, a serpent of the night, and his tender heart trembles still. This is the very thing which makes the promise of God so sweet and seasonable: "Fear not, thou worm Jacob; I will help thee, saith the Lord." Tell your son he is weak as a worm, but the strong arm of the Almighty is his defence. The fear of the child is natural, yet it must not be allowed to linger and bring him into bondage. That precept is absolute and unqualified, we are not to fear at all. Not merely fear less, but fear not.

There is no need for a child of the King of kings to tremble before the serpents of the evil one. Esau had no part nor lot in the covenant; so the dragon has no claim on your little lamb. Let this drive you both to review the goodness of the Lord, which is a good thing. And pray that his soul be quieted as "even as a weaned child", not fretting with strong desires or wild terrors, but lying still upon the breast of the Saviour. Jesus Himself draws near to the fallen and says, "Fear not: fear not." It is disobedience to be afraid. The snake is a lie of the darkness, but the truth of the Light has already bruised the serpent's head. Let your boy rest in the lap of Him who ever liveth and was dead, and can never more be touched by the venom of hell. Cast the fear upon Christ, for the fear of God bringeth blessings, but this terror bringeth a snare.

The serpent that troubled your son’s sleep is no mere dream. It is the enemy of our souls, the ancient deceiver, who even now prowls about seeking whom he may terrify and devour. But take courage: Christ has trampled the serpent’s head, and He has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

Let the boy be taught that when such visions come, he must call at once upon the name of the Lord Jesus, making the sign of the cross over his bed and his heart. The devil cannot endure that holy name; when we resist him, he flees. Do not indulge the terror with long talk or anxious looks, for fear feeds upon our weakness. Instead, let the child learn to say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can a mere serpent do to one who belongs to Christ?”

I will pray for your son, that God may grant him peaceful sleep and a bold spirit. But you must also be watchful: examine whether there be any open door to the enemy, perhaps some worldly entertainment, or careless words, or neglect of prayer. Cleanse your home with the fear of God, and fill it with psalms and holy conversation. For the tree that is deeply rooted in the fear of the Lord no storm of hell can shake.

Let us not be ignorant of Satan’s devices. Even that first serpent, though malignant, could not snatch the woman from punishment; how much more shall the second Adam, Jesus Christ, defend the little ones who trust in Him? Commend your son to the Good Shepherd. He neither slumbers nor sleeps.

That kind of night terror can shake a child deeply. When a dream feels so real that even after waking the image lingers, it sparks a dread that is hard to calm with just reason. Your son’s fright is not strange to the heart of a parent, nor is it overlooked by God. Scripture reminds us plainly, “The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?” Even in the dark of night, when our minds are vulnerable, He is our keeper.

Your son needs to hear not just that there is no snake on the bed, but that Jesus is with him in the room, and that His perfect love has authority over every fear. The enemy tries to plant terror in the quiet hours, but the name of Jesus is a strong tower the righteous run into and are safe. When you sit with him, speak that truth calmly. Don’t let panic season your response. A child takes cues from us. If we show alarm, the fear digs in deeper; if we display steady trust in God’s nearness, the child learns to lean on that same refuge.

In the Scriptures, we see how the angel would often begin with “Fear not.” That divine comfort came because God was about to move. So you can pray over your son’s room, inviting the peace of Christ to guard his sleep. Read a psalm with him, perhaps Psalm 4:8: “I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, Lord, only makest me dwell in safety.” Let those ancient words become his shield. As you walk him through this, you are training his soul to run to the Lord when fear rises, rather than to the shadow of the threat. A child left to his own imagination may be swamped by it, but a child taught to take every scary thought to Jesus builds a habit of faith that will outlast the nightmares.

So let’s lift him up right now.

Lord, you know this little boy’s heart. You saw the dream that terrified him, and you see the lingering echo that has him convinced the snake is still there. We ask you to silence that lie and flood his mind with your peace. Surround his bed with your holy angels, and may his sleep from this night forward be sweet and untroubled. Give his mother wisdom and gentleness, so that she might be a steady picture of your calm strength. When he wakes, let the first thing he remembers be that Jesus holds him, and nothing can pluck him from that hand. We pray this in the name that makes every fear bow, Jesus Christ. Amen.

Keep speaking life and trust over him. The Lord who watches over Israel neither slumbers nor sleeps, and He watches over your son with a steadfast love.
