We lift up your precious son to the Lord with heavy and hopeful hearts, joining you in prayer for his complete restoration. Father God, You are the Great Physician, the Healer of all our diseases, and we trust in Your power to mend what is broken, strengthen what is weak, and renew what has been worn down. One thing that helps in a long healing is remembering that God seldom works in a single, dramatic event, he usually works through the slow, steady process of grace, the way a baby learns to walk one step at a time rather than being born again each morning. That doesn't make the wait easy, but it can steady us when we start to wonder if anything is really changing. Your son doesn't need to manufacture some heroic faith right now; he just needs to put one foot in front of the other, and you get to walk beside him without carrying the burden of making it all better. Sometimes the best support is simply your patient, non-anxious presence, and permission for him to be exactly where he is while he recovers.

The least thing about Christ is healing. Pluck a leaf of this Tree by your poor trembling faith and if you dare not take more than that, yet shall it make you whole.
It is that touch of personal faith which brings peace to the soul. If you will not trust God, neither shall you have peace. Faith does the most effectual thing for the soul when it takes what God gives!
There is, then, an abundance of healing power in Jesus Christ and His salvation. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves, the little things, as it were, about Christ, are full of healing virtue. The utmost length of human sickness can be reached by this great Physician.
It is a blessed thing, this little faith, not its littleness, but its faith! If I could kill the weakness and quicken the faith, if the littleness could be removed and the faith could be increased, how glad should I be! Little faith requires to be tenderly handled and then it will be seen to be a precious thing. First of all, it is true faith. Faith which begins and ends with Jesus is true faith.
I shall bring again the captivity of my people, and I will have mercy upon them and they shall be as though I had not cast them off. When the prodigal son came back and his father had kissed him, he was to his father as if he had never gone away, as if he had never wasted his substance in riotous living.
Healing and forgiveness are placed in happy conjunction and both bestowed on the Lord's people when they looked not for them. You pray for your son to receive patience, faith, and peace as he heals. Yet understand that these gifts are forged in the fire of affliction, not given apart from it. If the Lord were to grant full restoration immediately, where would patience find its work? Where would faith be tested and proven genuine? The Apostle commends those who showed patience and faith in all their persecutions and afflictions, not in days of ease. So do not be surprised if the healing you seek is delayed, for through delay God trains the soul to cling to Him with steadfast hope.
Consider how the Lord dealt with the blind men who cried out. He did not heal them at once, but first asked, “Do you believe that I am able to do this?” He waited for their confession, and then He said, “According to your faith be it unto you.” He drew forth their faith before He granted sight to their eyes. In the same way, your son’s recovery, whether it comes swiftly or slowly, will be according to faith. But faith that cannot endure waiting is no faith at all. Many lose heart, not because they disbelieve God’s power, but because they lack patience. They want the promise fulfilled on their own terms and in their own time. This is not the faith that saves.
Remember the Canaanite woman. She would not be turned away, and her persistent trust won healing for her daughter. Christ did not say, “Let your little daughter be made whole,” but “Great is your faith; be it unto you even as you will.” Her faith contributed to the miracle. So continue to pray, and let your own faith be firm and patient, for the prayers of a faithful soul carry great weight. But also see to it that your son himself lays hold of this same patience and trust. It is not enough to receive the prayers of others; his own heart must learn to rest in God’s goodness even when the affliction remains.
Do not think that peace will come only when the body is whole. True peace is first peace with God, and that peace is maintained in the midst of storms. If he seeks that inward restoration, then even while the body suffers, the spirit can be calm. And this peace produces love, and love bears all things with patience. Without faith, love is nothing; with faith, even the heaviest trial becomes light.
Therefore, do not grow weary. Teach your son to say, “Though He delay, I will wait for Him.” That is the patience which obtains the promise. Complete recovery of body, mind, and spirit is a good petition, but the mind and spirit are often healed precisely through the very weakness you wish to see removed. So let him not merely await relief, but let him seek the Lord’s strength in his weakness, and then, whether healing comes soon or late, he will have received the greater gift.

We are not just a body with a mind; we are spirit, soul, and body, and every part needs His renewing touch. When your son’s spirit is awakened to God’s life, the whole person can be brought into the order He intended: spirit uppermost, then mind, then body. That is where lasting peace and strength are found.

The body will always make its demands felt, and if the flesh is in control, the mind stays occupied with symptoms, fears, and what the body says is true. But when the spirit is alive through Christ, the Holy Spirit can rule, and then the mind is lifted to things above. The mind set on the Spirit is life and peace, while the mind set on the flesh only brings death and anxiety. So pray not only for the mending of his body but for the dominance of his spirit, that he would know the Spirit’s witness deep within, anchoring his soul.
