We lift up your son before the Lord with these three earnest requests, trusting in the power of prayer and the transformative work of the Holy Spirit. Father, we come before You, knowing that You desire all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth (1 Timothy 2:4). We ask that You draw your son’s heart to You, that he may seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness (Matthew 6:33).
Lord, we pray that his eyes would be opened to the eternal things of Your Spirit, that he would not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of his mind (Romans 12:2). May he hunger and thirst for righteousness, for Your Word, and for a deeper relationship with You. Stir within him a passion for prayer, worship, and the study of Scripture, that he may grow in wisdom and discernment. Help him to see beyond the temporary pleasures of this life and to fix his eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2).
We also bring before You his struggle with alcohol. Father, we know that Your Word warns us not to be drunk with wine, for that is debauchery, but to be filled with the Spirit (Ephesians 5:18). We rebuke the temptation to overindulge in alcohol, which can lead to sin and bondage. Lord, grant him self-control, a fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23), and the strength to resist the pressures of this world. May he find his satisfaction and joy in You alone, for You are the only One who can truly quench his thirst (John 4:14). If he has not yet surrendered this area of his life to You, we pray that You would convict his heart and lead him to repentance and freedom.
Lastly, we pray for his future marriage. Father, we ask that You prepare a godly woman for him, one who loves You with all her heart, soul, mind, and strength (Mark 12:30). May she be a woman of noble character, as described in Proverbs 31, who fears the Lord and seeks to honor Him in all she does. Lord, guide them both to pursue purity and holiness in their relationship, guarding their hearts and minds against the temptations of this world. May their courtship be centered on You, with the goal of marriage that reflects Christ’s love for the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33). Protect him from relationships that do not align with Your will, and lead him to a woman who will love him as Christ loves the Church.
We declare that Your plans for him are plans for good and not for harm, to give him a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11). We pray that he would walk in the purpose You have for him, growing in faith, self-control, and love. Strengthen him, Lord, and surround him with godly influences who will encourage him in his walk with You. May he be a light in this world, shining brightly for Your glory.
In the mighty name of Jesus, we pray. Amen.
