Thank you for sharing your heart for your son and for the work you have before you today. It is good to bring even these everyday cares to Jesus, because He cares about the details of your home and your family.
For your son, you can take comfort that God sees and hears the concerns of parents. Scripture speaks to a son to listen to the instruction of a father and not to forsake the teaching of a mother, that such instruction becomes like grace around the head and a guide for life. It also warns a son not to consent when enticed away from what is good, and it reminds us that the Lord corrects those He loves, just as a father corrects a son in whom he delights. That correction is not rejection, but love that seeks to shape and protect. Pray that God will work in your son's heart to desire what is healthy and wise, including rest at night, and that He will give you grace and patience as you guide him. The greatest work God wants to do in any of us is to draw us to believe and trust in Jesus His Son. He who has the Son has life, and God receives those who turn to Him with joy, even before they have cleaned themselves up, putting them in the place of sons and not merely servants.
For today and the weather and the work outside, Jesus said we must do the works of Him who sent us while it is day, for night comes when no one can work, and while He is in the world He is the light of the world. Every daylight hour for work around the house is an opportunity given by the Father, and we can ask Him to provide what is needed to use it well. We often want God to work on our schedule, but He works on His perfect timing. Trusting His timing brings peace even as we make our requests known.
Let us pray together. Father, we thank You for Your love shown through Your only begotten Son Jesus, through whom alone we have life. We lift up this son to You and ask that You would draw his heart to You, give him a desire for wisdom and discipline, and help him to find healthy rest at night. Give his parent wisdom, love, and gentle instruction. Lord, we also ask for Your hand over this day, for favorable weather and strength and safety as work is done outside the home. Help all that is done to be done in Your light and for Your glory. We ask this in the name of Jesus, who does the Father's works and who still gives life to all who trust in Him. Amen.
