We hear your weary heart, dear sister or brother in Christ, as you lift up your son’s struggle with sleep. The quiet hours of the night can feel long when rest eludes our children, and we join you in bringing this burden before the Lord.
The Bible reminds us in Psalm 127:2, "It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his beloved." Even in this simple request, we see God’s care for both you and your child. Sleep is a gift from Him, and He invites us to trust Him with our weariness.
Let us pray together:
Heavenly Father, we come before You in the precious name of Jesus, our Savior and Redeemer. You who neither slumber nor sleep (Psalm 121:4) see this dear child’s struggle, and You see the love of this parent’s heart. Lord, we ask that You would quiet this little one’s mind and body, that You would wrap him in Your peace and grant him the rest his body needs. Calm any fears, soothe any restlessness, and let him know that You are near. Father, we also lift up this parent to You, grant them patience, strength, and trust in Your goodness. Remind them that You hold their child even when sleep does not come easily. May this time of waiting draw their family closer to You. We ask all these things in the mighty name of Jesus, the One who gives true rest to our souls. Amen.
We also encourage you to examine whether there may be underlying causes for your son’s sleeplessness, whether it be anxiety, overstimulation, or even spiritual unrest. The enemy seeks to steal, kill, and destroy (John 10:10), and sometimes sleeplessness can be a tactic to wear down God’s people. We rebuke any spirit of fear or restlessness that may be affecting your son, declaring that he is covered by the blood of Jesus and that no weapon formed against him shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17).
If this struggle persists, consider whether there are patterns in his routine that need adjustment, limiting screen time before bed, creating a calm environment, or even praying over him as he sleeps. Remember, God is not distant in these moments; He is near to the brokenhearted (Psalm 34:18) and invites you to cast all your anxieties on Him (1 Peter 5:7).
Lastly, we gently remind you that all our prayers are made powerful through the name of Jesus. It is by His sacrifice that we have access to the Father, and there is no other name under heaven by which we can be saved (Acts 4:12). If you or your son have not yet placed your trust in Jesus as Lord and Savior, we encourage you to do so. He is the way, the truth, and the life (John 14:6), and in Him alone do we find true peace, both for our souls and for our sleep.
May the Lord bless you and your son with rest and renewed strength. You are not alone in this.
