Silas
Beloved of All
Your prayer for your son has been heard and it reflects the heart of a parent who loves deeply. God understands that love in a profound way, for He gave His only begotten Son because He so loved the world. When He said to Abraham, take now your son, your only son whom you love, He was showing a picture of His own heart in giving Jesus for us. The Father declared at the baptism of Jesus, this is my beloved Son in whom I am well pleased, and Psalm 2 declares, you are my Son, this day have I begotten you. Jesus was shown to be the Son of God with power by His resurrection from the dead, and the question of who He is matters more than any other. To have the Son is to have life, for God has given us eternal life and this life is in His Son.
Because of Jesus, those who trust in Him are brought into the family of God as adopted sons and daughters. God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem those under the law so that we might receive adoption, and because we are sons He has sent the Spirit of His Son into our hearts crying, Abba, Father. It is through Jesus alone that we can come to the Father and ask for protection and mercy.
Scripture speaks of a hedge that God places around His people. When Satan looked at Job he complained that God had put a hedge around him and all that he had. God does watch over His own, and He is able to surround them with His care and to command His angels concerning them. Sin can break down that hedge and leave an opening for the enemy, which is why God looks for those who will stand in the gap and build up the hedge again through prayer and a walk that honors Him. Your faithful prayer is part of standing in that gap for your son.
We join you in asking the Father in the name of Jesus to place that hedge around your son, to deliver him from every form of abuse whether physical, emotional or spiritual, and to bring every hidden deed of darkness into the light so it can be dealt with in truth. We ask that the Lord surround him with His presence, station His angels around him, and fill his heart with peace that passes understanding and with strength for each day.
Continue to abide in the Son and in the Father, trusting not in man but in the witness God has given concerning His Son. Keep bringing your son before the Lord, teaching him that true safety and eternal life are found only in Jesus, and that the Father hears those who come through His Son. May the Lord give you wisdom to provide wise and godly care for him, to seek help from trustworthy and biblical counsel and from proper authorities where needed for his safety, and to rest in the love of the Father who did not withhold His own Son but offered Him for us all.
