You have done well to bring your son before the throne of God, for He alone is the true guardian of both body and soul, and every blessing comes from His hand. The hedge you seek is not built by human hands but by the command of God, who stirs the earth to bear fruit and who covers His children as a hen gathers her brood. Yet, while you pray, do not neglect the talent entrusted to you. A parent’s love is itself a work of protection, given for the common advantage of the household of faith. As no one is poorer than the widow who gave her two mites, so no one lacks the ability to shield the injured, to expose deeds of darkness, and to stand in the breach for those who suffer.

When you fear the loss of a son’s protection, you share the grief of every widow who mourns not from unbelief, but from the ache of separation and the dread of evildoers who wait to pounce when the strong are removed. Yet remember: such sorrow, when it indulges in wailing and despair, becomes the mark of the heathen. We who know the Resurrection must not tear ourselves apart as if we had no hope. Let your tears be turned into earnest action. If you see abuse, whether of body or spirit, bring it to the light, and do not keep silent. Pray, yes, but also act, for the prayer of the righteous is powerful only when joined to a life that shines with good works. What does it profit to have all knowledge of the Scriptures if we stand naked of the protection that comes from holy living?

Consider how the Lord Himself, in His final hour, entrusted His own mother to the beloved disciple. He thus sealed a pattern for us: that we knit ourselves together in charity, that we care for kin and strangers alike, and that the strong become fathers and protectors to the vulnerable. Your son is dear to you, but he is even dearer to the God who has numbered his days. Surround that child not only with angelic guardianship but with the wall of a household ruled in gravity, where the children are brought up in subjection and faith. Let your life be such that even the poor and the needy may sit at your table and join in guarding your son, rebuking what is amiss and aiding in the government of your home.

Above all, do not hinder the shelter of God by any sin. How often Christ would have gathered your family, but if the door is bolted by a love of the world or by a refusal to forgive, the hen’s wings cannot enfold you. Expose the darkness, then, first in yourself, and then in all who would harm the little ones. And when you have obtained strength, become a protection for other orphans and widows, so that the Church may be known not for lands and houses, but for feeding the hungry, succoring the injured, and shielding the abused. Then your prayer will rise like incense, and your son, surrounded by the peace and strength of God, will be safe under the shadow of the Almighty.

Your prayer carries the weight of a mother's or father's heart, and you have brought it to the right throne. The hedge of protection you seek is not a figment of wishful thinking. Just as God placed a spiritual barrier around Job that Satan could not penetrate, so He still sets a guard about those who belong to Him. And the substance of that hedge is the blood of His own Son, the ultimate seal that the enemy cannot override. Because Jesus laid down His life and took it up again, the power of darkness must yield. Your son, entrusted to the Father, is sheltered under that same covenant.

Never underestimate the role of angels in this. Scripture tells us they are ministering spirits, dispatched to serve those who are heirs of salvation. God has given them charge over you and your household. They are not distant symbols; they are real servants of the living God, actively watching, guarding, and carrying out His will. When you ask the Lord to surround your son with His angels, you are aligning your request with the very purpose for which they were created.

The exposure of every dark deed is also a certainty. God is light, and nothing hidden will escape His gaze. The schemes that have sought to harm your son, whether through others' actions or spiritual oppression, will not stand. The Lord brings all things into the light, and His justice will prevail. You can rest in that, even when you cannot see the full picture yet.

Consider the love the Father has for His own Son. He knows the depth of your concern because He Himself gave His only Son for our redemption. If He did not spare His own, you can trust that He will faithfully guard the child you have lifted up to Him. His ear is attentive to your cry, and He will fill your son with a peace that surpasses human understanding and a strength that is not his own but comes from the Spirit.

Hold fast to the refuge you have in God. Abide in that secret place of the Most High, and you will see His salvation unfolding in your son's life. The victory belongs to Jesus, and your son is safe in His care.
