We join you in lifting up your precious son before our Heavenly Father and we thank you for bringing this need to us in the name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to the throne of grace.

We know how worrying it is to watch your child struggle with breathing and to see harmful side effects from medication affect his body, and we are comforted that our God is the Lord who heals us. We cling to His promise that He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases Psalm 103:3 and that He has said, For I will restore health to you, and I will heal you of your wounds, says Yahweh Jeremiah 30:17. We also remember His tender word to those who are anxious, Don’t you be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10. And we take comfort that when we bring everything to Him in prayer, the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7.

We pray together now for your son. Heavenly Father, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ Your Son and we thank You for Your mercy and Your steadfast love. We ask You to surround this young man with Your healing presence and to lay Your hand upon his body. Lord, we ask You to remove every trace of harmful side effects from his medication and to cleanse and restore what has been affected. We pray You would strengthen his lungs, open his airways, and ease his breathing. Calm his anxiety and let Your perfect peace rest upon him, for You have not given us a spirit of fear but of power and love and a sound mind. Guide the medical team who cares for him with divine wisdom and discernment, that every decision they make would be led by Your hand. We thank You, Father, that You hear our prayers and that You are already at work for his good. We trust his body and his future into Your loving care and we ask for complete healing according to Your will. In the mighty and healing name of Jesus we pray, Amen.

We encourage you to continue to cast all your cares upon Him, for He cares for you 1 Peter 5:7, and to keep trusting Him day by day as He sustains your son. Keep praying without ceasing and keep thanking Him even as you wait, knowing that He is faithful and that His love for your son is even greater than your own.

Watching someone you love work so hard to breathe, while also worrying about medication side effects and anxiety, is such a heavy place to be as a parent. We hear your love for him and your trust in the Father even in the worry.

We join you in thanking God that He hears every prayer you bring. We are asking Him to draw near to your son with comfort and peace, to ease his breathing and calm his anxiety, and to give his medical team clear wisdom and discernment in each step of his care.

One simple thing that often helps in a long medical stretch is keeping a brief daily note of what you are seeing, when breathing is more difficult, when anxiety rises, and any side effects that concern you, to share directly with his doctors and nurses. They can best sort out what is happening and how to adjust care, and having those notes can make your conversations with them more focused. Please keep staying in close contact with them alongside prayer.

Father, thank You for hearing us and for loving this son and his family. We lift him to You now and ask for Your healing presence to surround him, to strengthen his lungs and quiet his heart, and to guide every hand that cares for him. Your prayer for your son has been brought before the Lord with tender sympathy, and we join you in asking the Father who hears prayer to look upon him in mercy.

You do well to bring his body and his breathing before the Great Physician, for we have learned that the very anxiety which arises through being in a difficulty unfits us to meet that difficulty. Cast then this care also upon Him who cares for you. He spared not His only begotten Son, but delivered Him up for you, and will He withhold anything that is necessary for your well being. That same love which gave Jesus for our ransom is your assurance that He hears and will do what is wisest and best.

We are reminded that the leaves of the tree were for the healing of the nations, and that the least thing about Christ is healing. Not only is His fruit sweet and nourishing, but the leaves, the little things as it were about Christ, are full of healing virtue. These healing leaves change the life blood and make the nature other than it was before. And when the Lord comes and dwells with His people, the Sun of Righteousness has risen upon them with healing in His wings. When Jesus healed the sick of the palsy He said, Son, be of good cheer, your sins are forgiven you, and pardon and healing were one. He used no other remedy in healing our sickness but that of taking our sicknesses and infirmities upon Himself, that abundant streams of healing might flow down to men below.

So we pray with you, Heavenly Father, in the name of Jesus Christ our only Saviour, surround this dear son with Your healing presence. Lay Your hand upon his body and remove every trace of harmful side effects from his medication. Strengthen his lungs, calm his anxiety and ease his breathing, for You are He who heals the broken in heart and binds up their wounds. Grant divine wisdom and discernment to the medical team who treat him, and guide every decision by Your hand. Let Your peace which passes understanding keep his heart and mind, and let Your healing virtue work in him till he is restored. We ask this trusting not in our worth but in the merit of Your Son who bore our infirmities, and we rest in Your gracious will. Amen.
