Son going to sleep/projects today in school

Beloved of All
Jesus please let my son go to sleep. This is ridiculous. He has got to go to sleep. He does not care, even when he falls asleep in school, and I am the one who has to hear about it and deal with the teachers. Please let him stop this and realize he has to go to bed, and not get mad at me when I ask him to hurry up and get off the internet. Please also let him do what he is supposed to in class today, he has a lot of work that is overdue and he must concentrate and get it done. He is acting like it is not a big deal and he doesn't care, but he has to do it to graduate. Please just let him change his attitude and bad habits. Thank you Jesus, Amen.

We hear your frustration and concern for your son, and we join you in lifting this situation to the Lord in prayer. It’s clear that you love him deeply and want what’s best for him—rest, responsibility, and a future unburdened by avoidable struggles. We know the weight of parenting can feel heavy at times, especially when it seems like our children aren’t listening or taking their responsibilities seriously. But we take heart in knowing that God is at work even when we can’t see it, and He is faithful to complete the good work He has begun in your son’s life.

First, we want to rebuke the spirit of laziness, disobedience, and rebellion that may be influencing your son’s habits and attitude. The Word tells us in Proverbs 6:9-11, *"How long will you sleep, sluggard? When will you arise out of your sleep? A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to sleep— so your poverty will come as a robber, and your scarcity as an armed man."* We declare that this pattern of procrastination and disregard for his responsibilities will not take root in his life. We also rebuke any spirit of defiance that causes him to resist your godly instruction, for Proverbs 13:1 says, *"A wise son listens to his father’s instruction, but a scoffer doesn’t listen to rebuke."*

We pray that God would break the hold of distractions—especially the internet—that are keeping him from rest and productivity. The enemy often uses these things to steal time, focus, and peace. We declare that your son’s mind and heart would be sharpened to prioritize what truly matters. Philippians 4:13 reminds us, *"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."* We pray that your son would tap into that strength to overcome his bad habits and complete his work with diligence.

Father, we ask that You would soften his heart to receive correction—not just from his teachers, but from You and from his mother. Give him a spirit of humility and a desire to honor You with his time and efforts. Proverbs 23:12 says, *"Apply your heart to instruction, and your ears to the words of knowledge."* Let this be his posture moving forward. We also pray for wisdom for you as his parent. It’s not easy to balance firmness with grace, but we trust that God will give you the words and actions that will speak life into your son’s heart.

We pray for his sleep, that his body and mind would find true rest. Psalm 127:2 says, *"It is vain for you to rise up early, to stay up late, eating the bread of toil; for he gives sleep to his loved ones."* Lord, let Your peace guard his mind and body so that he can wake up refreshed and ready to tackle his responsibilities. We also ask that You would give him favor with his teachers and that they would see his efforts to improve, even if it takes time.

Most of all, we pray that your son would come to know You more deeply. That he would understand that his worth and purpose are found in You, not in temporary distractions or the approval of others. If he hasn’t yet surrendered his life to Christ, we pray that the Holy Spirit would draw him near and that he would respond in faith. John 14:6 tells us, *"Jesus said to him, 'I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me.'"*

We stand with you in agreement, believing that God is working in this situation. We declare that your son will rise up with a renewed sense of purpose, discipline, and respect for his responsibilities. We thank You, Lord, for hearing our prayer and for moving in his life. In Jesus’ mighty name, we pray. Amen.

Oh, dear friend, we're right there with you, feeling your frustration and concern for your son. It's tough when it seems like our children aren't listening or taking their responsibilities seriously. But remember, God is always at work, even when we can't see it.

Let's pray that God would stir your son's heart, helping him to understand the importance of rest and responsibility. We ask that he would find joy in doing what's right, not out of obligation, but out of a desire to honor God. Let's also pray for wisdom for you, dear parent, that you would know just how to navigate this situation with love and firmness.

May your son find the strength and discipline to overcome his bad habits and complete his work with diligence. And may he come to know God more deeply, understanding that his worth and purpose are found in Him alone.

In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.

Lord Jesus, it is asked that You would grant this mother’s son the gift of peaceful, timely sleep. Your Word says, “It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest… for He gives to His beloved sleep” (Psalm 127:2). Please quiet his mind and body, helping him to recognize the need for rest without resentment toward her gentle guidance.

Father, break through his carelessness and the attitude that disregards consequences. Your Word instructs, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord” (Colossians 3:23). Stir his heart to complete his overdue work, to focus in class, and to understand that these efforts lead toward graduation and maturity.

Change his habits and soften his spirit, Lord. Remind him that “a fool despises his father’s instruction, but whoever heeds reproof is prudent” (Proverbs 15:5). Let him not grow angry at her reminders, but instead see her love behind them.

Thank You, Jesus, for hearing this cry. May this young man rise to responsibility and rest well this night. Amen.

Lord, we pray for this prayer and family for blessings healing and salvation. Heal and bless. May their lives be a praise and glory unto thee.
Come to the Lord's holy presence. Seek him with all your heart. Cling to his Word and meditate on it moment by moment by positive thoughts and joy in the heart (James 1:2-4), knowing that the Lord is good and to him be all the praise. Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
