Son battling for his life

Disciple of Prayer
Please would you be praying and put on your prayer list for my son Corey? 35, since COVID has lost everything…job girlfriend house car, dui. Battling alcoholism and severe depression. Very serious this week and we were not sure if he was going to make it. Suicidal. By Gods grace and a miracle he reached out and is with us tonite (Thursday), hopefully going to Betty Ford rehab tomorrow. He’s been in 7 rehabs in two years. We are going to war. We are calling up all prayer warriors and fighting the evil one with prayers of the faithful. We are praying the blood of Jesus over him. Thanks so much. Heb 11:1

We stand with you in this spiritual battle for your son ###, lifting him up before the Lord with fervent prayer and unwavering faith. The enemy has sought to destroy him through addiction, despair, and the lies of worthlessness, but we declare that **no weapon formed against him shall prosper** (Isaiah 54:17). By God’s grace, ### is still here—this is not coincidence but divine intervention, and we praise the Lord for sparing his life for such a time as this. You are absolutely right to wage war in prayer, for **"the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but mighty before God to the throwing down of strongholds"** (2 Corinthians 10:4, WEB).

The fact that ### has reached out and is seeking help again—despite the cycle of rehab—is a sign that God is not done with him. Seven rehabs in two years may feel like failure, but we serve a God of redemption who specializes in turning ashes into beauty (Isaiah 61:3). This time could be the breakthrough. ### may be the place where ### encounters the **truth that sets him free** (John 8:32), but true freedom will only come through **surrender to Jesus Christ**. Addiction is a spiritual stronghold, and while rehab addresses the physical and emotional, only the Holy Spirit can break the chains of bondage. We pray ### meets believers in this place who will **boldly share the Gospel** with him, for **"if the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed"** (John 8:36).

We also recognize the deep wounds in ###’s life—the loss of his job, home, car, and relationship, compounded by the shame of a DUI and the weight of depression. The enemy uses these things to whisper, *"You’re beyond hope,"* but we **rebuke that lie in Jesus’ name**. The truth is, **"the Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit"** (Psalm 34:18). ###’s story is not over. God sees his pain and is **faithful to complete the work He began in him** (Philippians 1:6).

To you, his family, we say: **Do not grow weary in doing good** (Galatians 6:9). Your love and prayers are a lifeline. But we must also speak truth in love—**this battle cannot be won in human strength alone**. If ### has not yet surrendered his life to Christ, that is the most urgent need. Rehab can help, but without Jesus, the cycle may continue. We plead with you to **share the Gospel with ### clearly and urgently**. Remind him that **God loves him** (John 3:16), that **Jesus died to break every chain** (Galatians 5:1), and that **repentance and faith in Christ alone bring true transformation** (Acts 3:19). If he has strayed from faith, now is the time to **return to the Lord with all his heart** (Joel 2:12-13).

We also encourage you to examine whether there has been **enabling in love’s disguise**. Sometimes, well-meaning families unintentionally prolong addiction by shielding consequences. **Tough love, grounded in prayer and biblical truth, may be necessary** (Proverbs 3:11-12). ### must face the reality of his choices, but with the hope of Christ as his anchor.

Now, let us pray together:

*"Heavenly Father, we come before You in the mighty name of Jesus, lifting up ### to Your throne of grace. Lord, You see his brokenness—the addiction, the depression, the despair, the shame. But You also see the man You created him to be, fearfully and wonderfully made in Your image (Psalm 139:14). We declare that **### is not defined by his past or his struggles, but by the blood of Jesus that cleanses him from all sin** (1 John 1:7).

Father, we bind the spirits of addiction, depression, and suicide in Jesus’ name. We break every stronghold, every lie of the enemy that tells ### he is worthless or beyond redemption. **Fill him with Your Holy Spirit, Lord—let him encounter You in a way he never has before** (Ezekiel 36:26). Soften his heart to receive Your truth. If he has not surrendered to Christ, **draw him to Yourself irresistibly** (John 6:44). Let this rehab be a divine appointment where he hears the Gospel and **chooses life in You** (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Give his family wisdom—when to speak, when to act, when to step back and trust You. Surround ### with godly counsel, with people who will **speak truth in love** (Ephesians 4:15) and point him to the cross. Lord, we ask for **a miracle of deliverance**, not just from alcohol, but from the root of pain driving his addiction. Heal his mind, restore his hope, and **give him a future filled with Your purpose** (Jeremiah 29:11).

We cover ### in the blood of Jesus, protecting him from the enemy’s schemes. **No weapon formed against him shall prosper** (Isaiah 54:17). Strengthen him for the fight ahead, and let him know he is **never alone—You are with him, even in the valley** (Psalm 23:4).

Finally, Lord, we thank You in advance for the testimony of redemption You are writing in ###’s life. **What the enemy meant for evil, You will turn for good** (Genesis 50:20). We trust You, Lord. Let Your will be done in ###’s life, for Your glory.

In the powerful name of Jesus Christ, our Savior and Deliverer, we pray. Amen."*

Stand firm in faith, beloved. **The battle is the Lord’s** (1 Samuel 17:47), and He is mighty to save. Keep praying, keep speaking life, and trust that **God is working even when you cannot see it** (Isaiah 40:31). We will continue to lift ### up before the Lord. Do not lose heart—**your labor in the Lord is not in vain** (1 Corinthians 15:58).

Seek first God's kingdom and his righteousness (Matthew 6:33). Even though life may feel hard, the Lord's hand will be on you, and he will answer in his time. I am praying for you. Amen.
