Please pray that God would allow me to get out of having to go do something tomorrow for someone. My mental health is suffering a lot right now and while being around this person, I may have to be subject to negative behavior that they direct toward me sometimes due to spiritual warfare that has been attacking me for years using them to try to harm me. They always show remorse afterward but I just mentally can't take it right now. I really can't take it right now. Thank you.

We hear your cry for help and stand with you in this difficult time, lifting your burden before the Lord. The weight of spiritual warfare is real, and the enemy seeks to wear down the saints through exhaustion, discouragement, and even the actions of those around us. But we declare that no weapon formed against you shall prosper (Isaiah 54:17), and we take authority over every spirit of oppression, accusation, and torment that may be at work through this situation.

First, we want to gently remind you that while people may be used as instruments in spiritual attacks, they are still accountable for their actions. The Bible tells us, "If it is possible, as much as it is up to you, be at peace with all men" (Romans 12:18). However, it also says, "Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good" (Romans 12:21). You are not called to endure repeated mistreatment, even if remorse follows. God does not delight in your suffering, and He does not expect you to remain in harm’s way when your mental and spiritual health is at stake.

We rebuke the spirit of fear and anxiety that seeks to paralyze you. The Lord has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). We pray that you would have the wisdom and courage to set boundaries where necessary, trusting that God will honor your obedience. If this commitment tomorrow is not essential or could be rescheduled, we encourage you to prayerfully consider whether it is truly the Lord’s will for you to attend. Your well-being matters to Him, and He does not call you to sacrifice your peace for the sake of people-pleasing.

We also want to address the spiritual warfare you mentioned. The enemy is relentless, but greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world (1 John 4:4). We stand in agreement with you, binding every spirit of strife, accusation, and torment in the name of Jesus. We loose peace, protection, and divine strength over you. Put on the full armor of God (Ephesians 6:10-18) so that you may stand firm against the schemes of the devil. Remember, your battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, authorities, and powers of this dark world (Ephesians 6:12). The person involved may not even realize the extent of the spiritual battle at play, but we pray for their eyes to be opened as well.

Let us pray for you now:

Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister who is weary and heavy-laden. Lord, You see the burden they carry, and You invite them to cast their cares upon You, for You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). We ask that You would intervene in this situation tomorrow. If it is not Your will for them to go, we pray that You would open a door for them to graciously decline or reschedule. Grant them wisdom to know how to respond and the strength to prioritize their mental and spiritual health.

Father, we rebuke every spirit of oppression, fear, and anxiety that seeks to torment them. We declare that no weapon formed against them shall prosper, and every tongue that rises against them in judgment, You will condemn (Isaiah 54:17). We ask that You would surround them with Your hedge of protection, Lord. Let Your angels encamp around them to guard them in all their ways (Psalm 91:11). Fill them with Your peace that surpasses all understanding, which will guard their heart and mind in Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:7).

Lord, we also pray for the person involved in this situation. If they are unaware of the spiritual forces at work, open their eyes to see the truth. Soften their heart and lead them to repentance where needed. If there is unconfessed sin or bitterness in their life, convict them by Your Holy Spirit. We ask that You would break any chains of spiritual warfare that may be influencing them, and that they would come to know the freedom and healing that only comes through Jesus Christ.

Father, we thank You that You are a God who sees, hears, and acts on behalf of Your children. You are close to the brokenhearted and save those who are crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18). Strengthen our brother/sister with Your might, and remind them that they are not alone. Help them to lean on You and to trust in Your unfailing love.

We pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus Christ, the name above every name, the name by which we are saved and through which we have access to You. It is by His blood that we are redeemed, and it is by His authority that we stand against the enemy. We thank You for Your faithfulness, and we trust You to work all things together for good for those who love You and are called according to Your purpose (Romans 8:28). Amen.

In the days ahead, we encourage you to spend time in God’s Word and in His presence. Meditate on scriptures that remind you of His love, protection, and faithfulness. Surround yourself with fellow believers who can pray with you and encourage you. If this person is someone you must interact with regularly, seek godly counsel on how to navigate the relationship in a way that honors God and protects your heart. You are not called to be a doormat, but you are called to walk in love, wisdom, and discernment.

Remember, the Lord is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble (Psalm 46:1). He will sustain you and uphold you with His righteous right hand (Isaiah 41:10). Trust in Him, and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths (Proverbs 3:5-6). You are deeply loved, and we stand with you in this battle.

We hear how heavy this feels right now. When you’re already worn down mentally, facing the prospect of someone’s negative behavior, even if they show remorse later, can feel unbearable. It makes sense that you’re asking God for a way out; your need for rest isn’t weakness, it’s a signal that your soul is carrying more than it can manage today.

Sometimes the most faithful thing we can do is step back and let our limits be real. Canceling a plan, especially when you’re running on empty, isn’t a lack of love; it’s a way of honoring the mind God gave you. If there’s a way to honestly excuse yourself tomorrow, that’s worth considering. And if the fatigue and spiritual pressure keep building over time, we’d gently encourage you to talk with a doctor or a wise Christian counselor. Ongoing strain like this deserves real care, not just endurance.

We also want to sit with you in the spiritual tension you described. Whether or not this season is spiritual warfare, we know our enemy uses exhaustion and fear to isolate us. Christ himself withdrew when he needed to, and he invites all of us who are weary to find rest in him. So we won’t push you to buckle down or pretend you’re okay. We’ll just hold this with you.

Lord Jesus, you see the weight this person is carrying, and you know the dread that sits on their heart tonight. Please clear a pathway, whether by a change in plans, a quieted situation, or a gentle nudge to step aside, so they may breathe deeply and feel your shelter. Quiet any voice that shames them for needing a break. Restore their strength in the hidden place with you, and surround them with your peace that doesn’t depend on circumstances. We ask this in your strong name, Amen.

God heal me in every area of my life. Deliver and cleanse me of everything in my life that doesn't honor You. Transform and renew my mind. Bless me with love, power, and a sound mind. I hear the cry of a soul in the snare of the fowler, but you ask amiss. You would be spared the trial, yet the trial is the appointed way for your soul's good. The very anxiety that arises from your difficulty has already unfitted you to meet it. Do not seek to be exempted from the precept, lest you forfeit the promise.

The Lord has not given you a spirit of fear, and He who sends from heaven can save you from the reproach of him that would swallow you up. Are not the wounds of a cruel tongue part of the hellish artillery of the Evil One? Yet see how wisdom gathers grapes from thorns, even this may be God's method to withdraw you from your own purpose and to hide pride from you. He breaks in pieces everything that arrogantly exalts itself, and He will dry up the green tree of your self-reliance.

Then cry to Him, but cry to go forward, not to run away. You dare not play the sluggard and refuse the field because nettles grow there. No, bow before the Lord and say, “Keep me from the snares they have laid for me, but lead me in the appointed way.” He that has kept back your soul from the Pit these many years can guard you now. The way of close walking with God is a path of perpetual protection, go in it, and you shall see the salvation of the Lord.

Let the wicked fall into their own nets, while you escape, for your shield and exceeding great reward is not in your own shrinking but in His almighty arm.

You speak of mental suffering and a desire to escape a meeting where you may face hurtful behavior. Yet the afflictions you endure are not without purpose. It is not possible for one pursuing godliness to be without tribulation; sorrows and trials are the narrow path we tread. But do not despair. Christ is the Light who dissolves all mental darkness, and He makes the whole man healthy. Cry out to Him for healing rather than mere avoidance.

The person who wounds you shows remorse afterward. Do not judge according to appearance, for Christ can raise up even those who seem set against you, just as He lifted the publican from the fever of greed. The snares of the enemy are real, but consider that this trial may be a shaking allowed by God to remove what is unstable in you, so that what cannot be shaken may remain. Will you refuse Him who speaks from heaven and offers you a kingdom that cannot be moved?

You ask prayer to be excused. I will pray for your deliverance, yet more urgently I pray you receive grace to serve God with reverence and godly fear, for our God is a consuming fire. Do not put your trust in the uncertain comfort of avoiding hardship, but in Him who raises the dead. If after honest prayer you find it wise to withdraw for a time to preserve your mind, do so without bitterness, lest hatred take root. But if you must go, rely on the Master Physician to bind up your soul. Let neither the one on the staff despair nor the one in the church be confident. He who allows the Sabbath law to be set aside by a higher command can give you strength to bear what seems unbearable and to love even under persecution. May He grant you peace and a steadfast heart.

Your mind feels trapped, longing to escape, aching for relief. When the pressure builds to the point where just the thought of being around someone fills you with dread, it is not weakness. It is often the Spirit signaling that you are trying to sustain something in your own strength that was only ever meant to be carried by the Father. We all know the yearning to just fly away like a bird and find a hidden place to rest. We look for ways to escape, maybe through avoidance, maybe through sleep, or a hundred other things. But the deepest relief is not found in getting out of an appointment; it is found in the arms of the One who sees the years of this struggle.

You do not have to explain the situation to Him as if He missed it. He knows the negative behavior. He sees the remorse that follows. He knows the snare feels like it has been set for you, and He has collected every one of your tears. Right now, do not worry about directing Him on how to answer. You do not need to instruct Him on the best way to solve tomorrow. Instead, consent to what He wants to be for you in this fiery trial. He is the Healer. He desires to become your peace when your mental health is fraying, your stability when the warfare rages, and your very present help in trouble.

Prayer opens the door for Him to do what He has been wanting to do all along. You do not need lengthy words. You just need to look to Him like a servant watches the hand of his master, waiting for mercy. Begin simply with the word “Father.” That one word establishes the only basis that matters. You are not speaking to a wall; you are speaking to the One who made heaven and earth. He is not requiring you to be a spiritual giant today. He is looking for the desperate, heartfelt, “Lord, have mercy.” The cry of a righteous person, made righteous not by perfect emotional control but by relationship with Jesus, avails much. It moves His heart.

Do not let the enemy convince you that your only options are suffering through this or feeling guilty for backing out. There is a third way: the snare is broken, and your help is in the name of the Lord. That means the outcome of tomorrow is not ultimately dependent on your ability to cope, but on His power to sustain you or make a way of escape. Entrust the logistics to Him. Your primary assignment right now is not to survive negative behavior; it is to let Him heal the deep places in your soul that this long assault has worn down. As your soul begins to prosper in that secret place with Him, the fear of what others can do to you begins to lose its grip. May the peace of God, which is not the world’s peace but a deep, abiding prosperity within your walls, guard your heart and mind right now.

We want you to know how deeply we’ve been lifting you up in prayer since you shared your burden with us. Our hearts have been heavy for you as we’ve asked the Lord to intervene in this situation, to shield your heart and mind, and to provide a way of escape from what feels overwhelming right now.
