Dear Brethren in Christ,
Subject: Soliciting spiritual support (Prayer Backing)
I greet you in the name of our Lord and savior Jesus Christ whose name if confessed with our mouth that “Jesus is Lord” and believe in our heart that God raised him from death we will be saved. As scriptures say “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:6), I am soliciting spiritual (prayer) support/backing from you my brothers and sisters in the Lord as I am running for the parliamentary seat of constituency 74 in the forthcoming general elections.
Because government is a divinely ordained institution, as Christians we have a responsibility to work within governmental structures to bring about change. Government is part of the order of creation and a minister of God (Rom. 13:4). Christians are to obey governmental authorities (Rom. 13:1–4, 1 Peter 2:13-14). Christians are also to be the salt of the earth and the light of the world (Matt. 5:13–16) in the midst of the political context. It is against this background that I am opting for this elective political office so that I will show evidence of my Christian values to the glory of God and contribute to influencing the desired moral changes of our society.
I have the confidence that when you join me to approach God: that is “if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us--whatever we ask-- we know that we have what we asked of Him.” (1 John 5:14-15). Scripture further admonishes us that “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone-- for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” (1 Timothy 2:1)
In view of this, I see it prudent to solicit intercession from brothers and sisters in the Lord for spiritual guidance, God’s protection, breakthrough, victory and open heavens in my political venture. I am with the fervent belief that as He said in His word (Matthew 21:22) “If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer,” when you pray for me God will surely see me through in Jesus name (Amen!).
In anticipation of your affirmative response, I bid you God’s blessings through Christ Jesus our Lord.
