Beloved of All
It is painful when those closest to you, your own family, act in a way that disregards you, especially when it involves something as personal as a family business and inheritance. That sense of being pushed aside by your own blood cuts deeply, and it is understandable that you feel upset and are crying out to Jesus for help.
Jesus knows what that rejection feels like. Scripture tells us that a prophet is without honor in his own country and among his own family, and even His own brothers at one time did not believe in Him and thought He had lost His senses. He experienced the hurt of family alienation. When you come to Him, you are also brought into another family, the family of God. Through faith in Jesus Christ you are adopted as His child, and that spiritual bond can be deeper and stronger than even blood ties, especially when your own family does not walk with the Lord. He sees your hurt and He understands it personally.
God is a God of justice and righteousness and He wants justice to prevail. He often takes up the cause of the poor and the oppressed and commands that justice be done for the afflicted and needy. In the law He even made provision for land and inheritance to remain within the family, and for a near kinsman to step in and redeem what a poorer relative could not redeem himself, so that the family name and portion would not be lost. To refuse that family loyalty was considered shameful. When justice is perverted and truth falls in the street, the whole social order suffers, and God sees it.
At the same time, Scripture is honest that you cannot be assured of perfect justice in human courts. Where judgment should prevail, fairness often cannot be found, and truth can seem to stand far off. For that reason, those with experience will often advise to settle matters out of court if at all possible, because going to court is uncertain. The Bible teaches that if a dispute is between brothers and sisters in Christ, it should be settled among believers rather than before unbelievers, but it also recognizes that courts are ordained to help ensure that justice prevails when people will not act rightly. If you do pursue this further, seek wise, godly counsel, count the cost carefully, and pursue what is right and fair with integrity.
Financial pressure in such a situation is very real, and the Lord knows that. Jesus Himself knew what it was to have little in this world, born in another man's stable and at one point having to borrow a coin to make a point. He knows financial struggle. It is right to bring your need to Him and ask for His provision and direction, whether that means He opens the way financially to pursue what is just, or He gives wisdom to take a different path that leads to greater peace.
Above all, remember that God has made only one provision for the forgiveness of your sins and the putting away of your guilt, and that is through His Son Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit bears witness to your heart of this truth. If you have trusted in Jesus, rest in that forgiveness and let Him be your foundation while you walk through this family trial.
I will pray for you, that God will give you wisdom beyond your own understanding, that He will provide for your needs according to His will, that He will guard your heart from bitterness, and that whether through restoration or through His peace that passes understanding, you will know His justice, His care, and His presence as your Father. May He lead you to what is right, and may He sustain you and your household in the days ahead.
