So Sick

This heat can make sickness feel far worse, and I am sorry you are in such misery. Jesus is not far off. He was near to the sick, and he still receives those who cry to him in weakness. Bring him the headache and the sick feeling plainly: ask him to cool your body, lift the pressure, and help you through this wave of heat. Healing is his work, and he is not stingy with mercy.

Do not let anyone make you think sickness means you lack faith or that God is punishing you. Even faithful people have been brought low by illness, and the Scriptures do not promise that every sickness will vanish on command. Sometimes the Lord heals suddenly; sometimes he carries us through a slow recovery; sometimes he gives grace to endure and uses rest, water, and care. But he hears the prayer of one suffering person.

So pray honestly. Jesus healed in many different ways: a word, a touch, the hem of his garment, a command. He has not stopped being the healer. May he touch you now and grant real relief from the heat and the headache, and may he guard your heart with peace while you wait.

Lord Jesus, you know how sick and worn this one is. Please bring relief, cool the body, quiet the mind, and restore strength. Be near in every need. Amen.
