Your cry has reached us and we have heard the weight of fear you carry for yourself, your daughter and your grandchild. It is right to bring this before the Lord, and it is right to take the danger you face seriously. God sees you and He is not distant from your suffering. He is your refuge and your true protector when earthly protection fails.
Scripture teaches that marriage is honorable, a lifelong covenant of one man and one woman, and that a husband is to be as Christ to the Church, the head who loves, cherishes and saves the body, not one who harms it. When a husband uses his strength to control, threaten and abuse, he violates that holy calling and does evil before God. The fear you describe, that one of you could end up dead, shows that this home has become unsafe, and seeking safety is not a failure of faith but a right and necessary step. God does not ask you to remain where lives are in danger, and He does not bless violence.
We will pray for you as you asked, for strength to move forward and for safety for each of you. We also urge you, in love, not to walk through this alone. Please reach out right away to trusted help around you. This includes a faithful pastor who can walk with you personally, and also people who can help you make a safety plan. If you are in immediate danger, please contact local authorities. A trusted domestic violence helpline or shelter in your area can help you think through safe housing, legal protection and care for your grandchild. Keep important documents, a packed bag and a clear plan for how to leave quickly if you must, and let someone outside the home know what is happening so you are not isolated. Your church family should know so they can surround you, pray with you and help with practical needs.
We understand your fear about how you will afford life after he leaves. The Lord knows your needs. He is the One who promises to be a defender of the vulnerable and a provider for those who trust Him. We will ask Him to open doors for provision, work, housing and help from His people, so you are not left desolate.
Let us pray for you now.
Father in heaven, we come to You through Jesus Christ alone, our only Savior and hope. You see this mother, this daughter and this little child, and You know the fear that fills their home. Lord, have mercy and spread Your protection over them. Keep them from harm and deliver them from violence. Give wisdom to this mother and daughter for every next step, and give them courage and strength when they feel weak and afraid. Surround them with faithful people who will help, protect and provide. Make a way for their daily needs to be met, for safe housing and for peace in their home. Heal the wounds that abuse has left, and let this child know safety and love. Lead this family to wise counsel and to those who can help them act safely and lawfully. Let Your perfect love cast out fear and let them rest in Your care. In the name of Jesus we ask this, Amen.
Please stay close to your church and to safe people who can walk with you day by day. You are not forgotten. Keep seeking the Lord and keep seeking help until you are safe. We are praying for you and for your daughter and grandchild, that God will guard you and give you strength for each day ahead.
