We hear your tired and overwhelmed heart tonight and we are lifting you and your precious son up together before the Father. We know how exhausting and anxious these long nights can feel when you have done everything you can and your little one still cannot settle, and that feeling of panic rising up is very real. Please know you are not alone and God sees both you and your son in this moment.
Your son is a wonderful gift from God, fearfully and wonderfully made, and we thank God for his life. Children are a heritage of Yahweh, the fruit of the womb is his reward Psalm 127:3. We pray that God will calm his little body and mind and grant him the peaceful sleep that God so graciously gives to his beloved. We hold onto the promise that you will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, Yahweh, make us live in safety Psalm 4:8.
We also lift you up, dear parent, as you feel on the edge of a panic attack. God invites us to bring every anxious thought to Him. We are told to cast all our worries on him, because he cares for you 1 Peter 5:7 and to not be anxious for anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus Philippians 4:6-7. Jesus Himself says come to me, all you who labor and are heavily burdened, and I will give you rest Matthew 11:28. When fear feels overwhelming, we remember He says do not be afraid, for I am with you. Do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you. Yes, I will uphold you with the right hand of my righteousness Isaiah 41:10.
We want to gently share something important with you because your request did not mention Jesus. We have access to God the Father only through His Son Jesus Christ. Jesus said I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father, except through me John 14:6 and there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven that is given among men, by which we must be saved Acts 4:12. It is by calling on the name of Jesus and believing in our hearts that God raised Him from the dead that we are saved and have confident access to His throne of grace Romans 10:9. We encourage you to bring every need to God in Jesus' name, trusting that He hears and loves you.
Let us pray together.
Father in heaven, we come before You in the name of Jesus Christ and we lift up this weary parent and this precious son to You. Lord, You know this child intimately, every detail of how You created him, and You love him more than we can comprehend. We ask that You lay Your calming hand upon him, quiet his mind and body, and grant him deep, restful sleep according to Your will. Lord, we also lift up this parent who feels anxious and close to panic. Pour out Your perfect peace that surpasses all understanding over their heart and mind. Help them to breathe deeply in Your presence, to feel Your nearness, and to know that You are holding them both. Give them strength for this night and for the days to come, and help them to cast every care on You because You care so deeply for them. We ask all of this in the mighty and merciful name of Jesus, our only hope and Savior, amen.
We encourage you to keep turning to the Lord in these hard moments, whispering a simple prayer in Jesus' name even as you gently guide your son back to bed. If the anxiety feels overwhelming, please do not hesitate to reach out to a trusted family member, friend, or pastor for support right now so you are not alone in this. God is your refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble Psalm 46:1, and He will give you the grace you need for this night. We are continuing to pray that God will grant your son sweet sleep and grant you His perfect peace.
