We understand your struggle with sleeplessness before important events, and we want to lift you up in prayer, seeking God’s peace and rest for you. The Bible reminds us in Psalm 4:8, *"In peace I will both lie down and sleep, for you, Yahweh alone, make me live in safety."* Even when our minds are racing with anticipation, God offers us His perfect peace to calm our hearts.
We also recognize that excitement can sometimes stem from placing too much weight on our own plans rather than trusting in God’s sovereignty. Proverbs 3:5-6 encourages us, *"Trust in Yahweh with all your heart, and don’t lean on your own understanding. In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will direct your paths."* When we surrender our anxieties and expectations to Him, He grants us rest—not just for our bodies, but for our souls.
Let us pray for you now:
*Heavenly Father, we come before You on behalf of our brother/sister, asking for Your peace to guard their heart and mind. Lord, when excitement or anxiety threatens to rob them of sleep, remind them that You hold their future. Help them to cast their cares upon You, knowing that You care for them (1 Peter 5:7). Fill them with Your presence so that they may rest in the assurance of Your love and provision. Calm their thoughts, ease their spirit, and grant them the sleep they need to rise refreshed and ready for the day ahead. We ask this in the mighty name of Jesus, for it is only through Him that we have access to Your throne of grace. Amen.*
We encourage you to spend time in prayer before bed, releasing your plans to God and meditating on His promises. Philippians 4:6-7 tells us, *"In nothing be anxious, but in everything, by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus."* Trust that He is in control, and allow His peace to settle over you like a blanket.
If this struggle persists, consider whether there may be underlying stress or a need to surrender control to God more fully. Sometimes, sleeplessness can be a sign that we are carrying burdens He never intended for us to bear alone. Rest in Him, and remember that His yoke is easy, and His burden is light (Matthew 11:30).
